  1. Why does every potential QB have to compare one way or the other to RJ, Losman, or Edwards around here???...Pull you head out of the black hole that is Buffalo Bills Football and do a little homework before comparing a Kid like Gabbert to Rob freaking Johnson...No body, and I mean NO BODY in the know is comparing Gabbert to RJ...NO ONE...There is a reason Rob Johnson went in the 4th Round...Gabbert produced plenty in College...He threw for over 6800 yards and 40 TD's and was 18-8 in two years as a Starter at Missouri...That's right Missouri, not USC...Gabbert scored almost 20 points higher on the Wonderlic than RJ...he's just a WAY better Pro Prospect than RJ was... I've heard Gabbert compared favorably to Matt Ryan...NOT Rob Johnson...
  2. That is an INCREDIBLY misinformed statement...There is so much ridiculous speculation/opinion in that statement it's really not worth a reply...Gabbert used the tool the NFL gives every underclassmen and was told he was a high 1st Round Prospect...It's got nothing to do with Andre Luck...Have you even watched a freaking game that Gabbert has played? There was a reason Modrak and The Bills Brass spent so much time Scouting Gabbert this past Season...And it's not because he was a 2nd Round Prospect...Mike Mayock has him rated the #5 Overall Prospect in this Draft and that guy does not overrate ANYONE due to hype...Charlie Casserly says Gabbert is a better Prospect coming out than Mark Sanchez or Joe Flacco was...Michael Lombardi thinks Gabbert should be the #1 Overall Pick this year...It's not PR...Watch the tape...Here I'll get you started... It's not Gabberts best Game either...He makes a VERY bad decision in the 4th Quarter that costs Missouri the Game...But you can't deny the way the Kid flings the ball around, as smart as he is, as hard as he works, as athletic as he is, he's got big-time potential...He's definitely a Top 15 Prospect QB in ANY NFL Draft...
  3. I'm no where near as high on Wilson as some...The neck injury is one reason, he plays a bit out of control at times, and the Kid has some off-the-field question marks...I'm not saying I would not take him...But definitely not at the top of the 2nd Round...If the Bills pass on a QB at #3 they better take one at #34...And it shocks me that any Bills Fan would choose to pass on Ponder in this scenario knowing our QB situation...No back-up QB (and please don't give me the Levi Brown crap)...Fitz's deal is up after 2011...How can you not take a QB here? You counting on Seneca Wallace or Matt Leinart? Maybe we can bring Todd Collins back?
  4. Seriously?...I mean...I understand all of the legal wrangling that are currently underway...But come on...The NFL Draft is going nowhere...Easy with the gloom and doom already...
  5. Well if they Traded back into the 1st Round to Draft Locker that would answer any lingering questions I had about Buddy's abilities running a Draft...I gave him a pass on Spiller because he was flat out amazing in College...I thought Troupe was a bit too high...But Trading up from Locker would take the cake...
  6. He's got a few... How about Aaron Maybin is the next Jason Taylor?
  7. True...Luck is absolutely coming out next year... Still (and this is not in response to you Albany) I don't think he should even be a thought for The Bills or any other NFL Team at this time...It would simply be dumb to make plans that circle around getting in position to Draft Andrew Luck...Especially when there are plenty of Prospect QB's to bring along from this Draft...And The Bills do pick high this year...Who knows where they'll pick in 2011?...
  8. Gabbert may seem laid back because he's confident and SUPER smart...I don't think that Kid believes there is anything that is going to hold him back...And since when did Missouri become this National Powerhouse that is expected to beat everyone?...They beat Texas A&M and Oklahoma in 2010...Just watch that tape from the Insight Bowl vs. Iowa...Watch that Kid sling the Ball around...Then add to it the fact that he's not just good but a great athlete at QB, his Wonderlic score was a 42, his Teammates say he was an excellent leader, he went out on his own and talked to NFL QB's about what to expect and what would be expected of him in the league...Take away the Offense he HAD to run at Missouri and that Kid is the consensus #1 overall Pick...If he went to Florida St or USC he would be #1 Overall and there would not be any question about it... Gabbert has things to overcome for sure...But honestly he seems to have the mental and physical make-up to excel once he gets it...Buffalo is a perfect landing spot for him too...He's got Gailey here and he won't be expected to start right away...I just don't see much downside with that Kid...But we'll see in a few years...I do understand how Folks are iffy about spending #3 overall on a QB...But if Gabbert looks like Bradford looked last year a couple years from now believe me no one is going to be saying #3 overall was too high for the Kid...
  9. It was not sarcasm I totally agreed with you...100%... If I was being sarcastic I would use this...
  10. Bingo!!! That's the key to this whole Draft for the Bills...Do they see Gabbert or Newton as a Franchise QB?...That's really all there is to it...
  11. According to the Scouts I've heard and read he's not a scheme fit unless the opponents Offense Passes the Ball 100% of the time...Butch Davis said his best position is the traditional DE in a 4-3... Seriously I disagree with that concept...But we'll see soon enough...I don't think Quinn is going to be a 3 down guy like Miller at all...In fact I think Quinn is the most Aaron Maybin-like of all the Prospects in the 2011 Draft...If the Bills Draft him I hope to God I'm wrong about that...
  12. The Bills don't need a Starting QB in 2011...That's part of why Buddy said it may be the best time to take one...I'm not sure why you feel other QB Prospects in this Draft are as good as Gabbert or Newton long term...Ponder does not have the size or arm strength (especially for Buffalo NY)...Mallett has a ton of question marks...Locker has serious issues with accuracy...Kaepernick is REAL raw, but may have the same long range potential...He MAY have the same long term potential, but he's even behind Newton and Gabbert as far as being NFL ready...Andy Dalton is bit behind both the Top 2 QB's in overall ability...The idea that Gabbert and Newton are not worth Top 10 Picks is debatable...Mel Kiper is about the only Scout I've heard who consistently says Gabbert and Newton should not be Top 10 Picks...Most of the rest I've heard have no problem with either going REAL high...Even as high as #1 Overall...They understand it's a QB driven league...Well at least it's a GOOD QB driven league...Some Teams think they are worth it, some don't...But there is no denying Newton and Gabbert are REAL special athletes who play the QB position and can really spin the ball... I don't see how anyone...I mean ANYONE can watch Film of Gabbert or Newton and not assume with the proper amount of REAL hard work and drilling they will not be able to run an NFL Offense efficiently...Especially Gabbert, who is SUPER smart and crystal-clean off the field...Is it a gamble? Yes it absolutely is...Chances are one of the two falls flat on his face...Is there a chance Von Miller comes around the edge in his 1st Pre Season Game and blows out his ACL?...Yep...There are risks all over the place...But at QB you're reaching for excellence...And The Bills are in the perfect position to Draft a Kid and bring him along slowly...I just wish that Kid was going to be Gabbert and not Ponder...But we'll see soon enough...
  13. I've been saying that here for Months now...Add to it the fact that The Bills are Drafting #3 Overall and should have chance at Newton and Gabbert and I thought all along they would take one because of this exact theory... Like you, I still think they'll take the Defender though...If they pass on Gabbert or Newton and they turn out to be a lot better than what The Bills have at the time at QB it's not going to matter what kind of Defender we get at #3...Everybody around here and their Mother is going to be wishing we had that QB...
  14. Really? I had never heard that! Got to be tough to live with that if it's true...
  15. Can't argue with that... I like Nix and Gailey but all GM's and HC's lean REAL heavily on their Scouting Staffs, and I have no confidence whatsoever in that Modrak led bunch at OBD...Personally I think anyone having anything to do with Picking Maybin ahead of Matthews, Orakpo, or Cushing should have been shown the door...Let alone the idiots that recommended Whitner over Ngata...Brutal...
  16. Not saying this is what I want The Bills to do...because it's not...But I'm about 100% convinced they are going Miller/Ponder with #3 and #34...
  17. At this point I really do agree Pete... I was watching the Film of the Missouri Offense vs. The Iowa D in the Bowl Game...With the amount that Gabbert was asked to throw the Ball, the quickness he gets it out, his arm strength, his intelligence, leadership, the fact that he is crystal-clean off the field, the fact that he LOVES Football...I don't know...I just feel The Bills are eventually going to regret passing that Kid in a HUGE way...
  18. Not to pick you apart or anything...But when a guys College Coach questions whether or not he can stand up and play OLB, you HAVE to question his capability... I don't claim to be an expert...But just about everyone I've heard when talking about Quinn says he's a 4-3 DE and nothing more...Even Butch Davis was very clear that Quinn's best position was at DE in a 4-3...He's a MAJOR projection as a 3-4 OLB...Not saying he can't do it...Just saying...Furthermore, just today on NFL Network they said there is an awful lot of concern about Quinn being a 3 Down DE, even in a 4-3, because he's just not very good at holding the edge vs. the Run...I gotta say this is the EXACT type of reports I was hearing about Maybin a couple weeks before the Draft...Quinn is a heck of an athlete...But if he's not in the right system I think he's going to struggle...And I don't think he's a fit for The Bills 3-4 at all...Not even close... I would however LOVE to see the Bills Trade Down a bit, pick up a couple extra Picks, and still end up with Gabbert, Miller, Newton, Fairley, or Jordan in Round #1...Then use those extra Picks to get back into the bottom of the 1st to grab Mallett or Ponder (assuming they don't Draft Gabbert)...
  19. I should say too with all my support for Gabbert I'm about 100% sure they are going to take Miller... I guess it would not seem as bad to me if we had not been feeling the sting of similar choices for years now...I just feel like, at this point...Who knows how Gabbert will play as a Buffalo Bills QB?...I really have no idea...But chances are, with the luck of this Franchise, if we pass on him he's gonna be the next Montana...
  20. So the question is...How are Bills Fans going to feel if Fitz does not cut it, we still don't have a QB behind him, and we win just enough to have zero chance at Andrew Luck?...Remember...If Fitz falls off in 2011 there is almost zero chance he'll be around in 2012...And this is The Buffalo Bills we're talking about here...Preparing for the worst case situation should be S.O.P... And if that happens I'm guessing ALL the Fitz backers would give their left arm for Gabbert at that point... Not saying that will happen...Just saying...
  21. Gotta say the "we might get Luck next year" excuse is the weakest of all "why we should not Draft a QB" excuses...If you said that in front of Nix and Gailey they would laugh you out of the room...The Bills have NO intention of Drafting this high next year regardless of who they take...You just don't plan to be bad...It's stupid, weak, and for losers...
  22. VERY true... But if you're starting with a Kid like Gabbert who has a ton of potential and will be able to sit and learn for at least a year that is the best way to start...The Bills do have some parts already (Jackson, Spiller, Johnson, Nelson, Woody, etc...)...If they grab Gabbert, get at least one good free Agent O-lineman, and spend a 1st-3rd on an O-Lineman next year, they'll have decent talent up front and a group that can begin to play with NE and NY... We'll see...I still think they're going to go the Miller/Ponder route...But we'll see...
