Exactly... One thing everyone on this Board needs to remember should The Bills pull the upset and take Gabbert is the fact that Chan HAS to be completely sold on the Kid...No way is Buddy going to take a chance on Gabbert unless Chan is literally glowing about the Kid...Gailey is the resident QB expert, and the HC...If he does not see Gabbert as a can't-miss Franchise QB in 2-4 years NO WAY The Bills take that gamble...No possible way... I've said all along it would be SO hard for Gailey to look at the total package (albeit the completely unfinished total package) that is Blaine Gabbert and not get excited about Coaching the Kid...Name a YOUNG QB in Gailey's NFL Career that scratches Gabbert's potential? I just think with his smarts and athletic ability Gabbert has almost zero bust potential...It's going to take time, and he may not turn out to be a Top 5 QB...But I think in 3-5 years he'll be Top 10, and if that happens he may get WAY better from there on in due to his intelligence...We'll see I guess...I just hate the idea of a guy like Harbaugh getting a hold of that Kid and making him an NFL Star QB taking SF back to prominence...That would suck SO bad...

As of last night, Bills looking at Blaine Gabbert
KOKBILLS replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
HAHA!!! I hear ya!!! Well...I still think there is VERY little chance they actually take Gabbert...Maybe the hope is to get someone to give up the farm and come up to get him...Maybe Washington? They have a history of giving up farms...And I recognize Boards will crash and every bridge in WNY will be on high-watch alert if they do Draft Gabbert...But man oh man would I be happy... -
Gabbert... He may not be ready for a year or two...But I've been following this Draft thing for a bit now...And I've yet to see a guy come out with more of the total package than Gabbert and not go #1 Overall...If you built a QB from scratch and gave him all the attributes you desire he would look a heck of a lot like Blaine Gabbert...He's got it all when it comes to size, athletic ability, arm, leadership, drive, and he's well beyond smart...I think if he went back to School he would go #2 Overall in 2012...It's looking like he may go #6 Overall or later this year...Give this Kid a couple years under a REAL good Offensive Coach and you could get the next Aaron Rodgers...There is nothing holding him back besides the lack of experience...We'll see I guess...

I think in fainess to Goddell he's just doing what his Bosses' are telling him to do...I'm not saying he does not believe in what the Owners are trying to accomplish...I am saying that Jerry Jones, Jerry Richardson, and that bunch that are calling the shots up top are definitely trying to break the Union for every penny they can get back and Goddell is a good Soldier...He's the man up front...He has a TON of power where running the League is concerned...But in this instance he's little more than a Front Man, PR guy for the Owners and their Lawyers bidding...At least that's how it looks to me...I could be wrong though...
-
I was just kidding with you a bit...I still hope Spiller turns into the great Player he can be...But I think he is an example of what can happen if you say "sure-fire" and stuff like that...I know there were a TON of Folks saying Spiller would be the Offensive Rookie of the Year last year and he did not sniff it...The truth is the NFL is a mans League and sometimes you have to wait, even for the great ones to grow into the League...I don't think there are any sure things in this Draft...I think Dareus would be the closest to a sure-thing though...
-
Exactly...

This is what the Owners are having to deal with because in the eyes of the Players they have not negotiated in good faith...So the Players are going to go the legal route and throw everything they can at the Owners so they can get the best Deal possible...Now the Owners, through Goddell, are taking the worst-case-scenerio to the Public so they can guarantee a win in that Court...The Court of Public opinion... But here's the deal...And the Players know this...I'm a lifelong...I mean a 40 year diehard NFL Fan...If they do away with the NFL Draft I'm done...I'm out, and I'm not coming back...I don't even really care much...If it was a League without a College Draft I'm more than happy spending my spare time Gaming or hanging out with My Girlfriend...There are thousands upon thousands of Fans like me, or FAR more casual than me, who would bail as well...The thing that makes the NFL is the competitive balance...If that's gone the league is going to suck for a whole bunch of Cities, people will stop going to Games, they will stop buying merchandise, it will be a mess... So this is all a bunch of cheap posturing at this point...The Players have won Rd #1 in the Courts, but the only thing they have won is to possibly end the Lockout...That's all...The rest is yet to be decided...But there is not going to be an NFL the way we know it today very long without a College Draft...The Owners know it, the Players know it, the Lawyers know it, hell even the greedy Agents know it...The NFL draft is VERY good for the NFL in a lot of ways...It's a weapon for leverage right now, and a good one at that...Nothing more...

Right now impact Players? Sounds like Spiller!!!

I can tell you would fit right in with Jauron and Levy... So you're assuming Florance is gone? They have to play McLovin still...Go ahead and get a CB...I'm not saying it would not be nice to have Patrick Peterson...But CB is WAY down on the Needs list for this Team and if they keep Drafting ignoring FAR bigger Needs and doing nothing but replacing other high Draft Picks they'll never catch up because they are already WAY too far behind (assuming they don't get Andrew Luck in the 2012 Draft)...Of all the terrible statistical categories in 2010 Pass Defense was actually not bad...And that was without almost any Pass Rush whatsoever... Peterson has yet to play a down in the NFL...We'll see if he's the next great thing...To go at #3 Overall he has to be an absolute lock-down NFL CB...The Bills do have CB's...They have massive holes all over the Front 7, at TE, at RT, and IMHO at QB...But go ahead and grab a CB at #3...Then we'll see if he can cover Brandon Marshall, Santonio Holmes, or Wes Welker...If he can't can you even imagine where that leaves this Bills Team? And they'll still get their butts kicked in the trenches...But Draft a DB high again...After all it's worked so well before for this Team...

Thanks for the update NGU... Well I have to say it would be JUST like this Organization to pick AJ Green at #3...And it would make me laugh out loud pretty hard if they do so...Not a happy laugh though...Not that Green is not a good Prospect because he is...Just like Spiller was last year...He's a hell of a good Prospect WR...But here we go again...We'll Draft a WR at #3 so we can get rid of the one we Drafted 7 years ago at #13...Here we go again Drafting a Player high in the 1st at what is perceived to be one of our deepest Positions (Johnson, Evans, Parrish, Nelson, Jones, Roosevelt, and 4th Round Pick in 2010 Marcus Easley)...Once again we don't address the glaring weaknesses...And once again they'll get their asses beat in the trenches...And yet once again, we don't even get a Top Rated QB Prospect...I can hear it now...The Bills Draft a WR and they don't even have a Franchise QB to get him the ball... Don't get me wrong...I realize Fitz could become a top 10 NFL QB and the Green and Spiller moves could make The Bills Offense one of the leagues best...I also realize that someday pigs can fly should they sprout wings... We'll maybe, just maybe that will be the move that will assure the Bills win zero games in 2011 and finally make their own LUCK...If you know what I mean...

Bills taking DT or DE in the first round?
KOKBILLS replied to LGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No we don't...Not yet at least...Fitz made strides in 2010, but it's yet to be seen if he's going to be a VERY good NFL QB... I think to be considered a very good NFL QB you're going to have to have at least a 90 QB rating...Fitz had a QB rating of 75 or below on 5 of his 13 Starts...Realistically Fitz was a very good QB about 50% of the time...The rest of the time he was exactly who he's always been...average... Fitz is a UFA after the 2011 Season so this is a Contract year...It's a HUGE year for him...But it's as easy to assume he can backslide as it is to think he's going to improve his overall QB Rating by 10 from last Season, and by almost 20 points from his Career average...That's what it's going to take for him to be considered very good... I have to say...Those who are assuming Fitz is better than he really is are setting themselves up for some major heartache...I hope my gut is wrong and Fitz is the next Drew Brees...I'm just not convinced, not yet at least, and I'm definitely not assuming anything anymore...Not at QB for the Buffalo Bills I'm not... -
It sure as heck is not gonna help him make weight...

Seriously? You think so? You do know Wannstedt is the Asst. HC right? You think Wanny could not get a DC Job in the NFL? You think an ex-NFL and College HC is going to be OK with being an ILB Coach only?...The Bills and Gailey did right by Edwards...They like the guy and don't want to embarrass him...But all you have to do is look at the Resume's...Wanny was the Cowboys DC 10 years before Edwards was their LB Coach...I don't think it's much of an assumption whatsoever that Wanny will be calling the shots on Defense...I could see if Edwards did some kind of awesome job as a Rookie DC...But lets face it...The guy is lucky he kept his job...

Adam Schefter: Denver is taking Miller at 2
KOKBILLS replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm here in Charlotte and still all signs are pointing to Cam at #1 overall...I think The Panthers are holding out hope someone is going to swoop in at the last moment and make them some kind of ridiculous offer...But almost all you hear in this Market is it's Cam all the way... -
Here is Gosslin's latest mock

I think this was his "need based" Mock...Still one to go... -

Like him or not, can we all at least agree that The Bills interest in Cam Newton goes WAY beyond what he can do at QB? When was the last time The Buffalo Bills Drafted a Player that will bring the type of attention/hype Newton will? They'll make him the face of the Franchise in a half-a-heartbeat...And they'll make a ton of cash off him while everyone is trying to figure out if he'll be any good over the next few years...That Kid is bigger than life right now...It's more than just football with him... -
Bills unis leaked in Madden promo video?
KOKBILLS replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too...The rest looks fine but the Helmet color change pisses me off... -
I'm not sure why any Bills Fan is paying much attention to Wanny's title...Regardless of title He'll have the last word on the Defense...You can pretty much bank on it...

Wow! After thinking Miller was a lock at #3 for weeks now this is pretty interesting...I'd still try to Trade back, but I'm AOK with Dareus...Boy oh boy could The Bills do worse than that Kid... -
Potential Trade with the Pats?
KOKBILLS replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True...And it should also be mentioned that by the Value Chart it would take #17, #28, AND #33 for NE to get up to #3 Overall...#17 and #28 is no where near enough... But for this Team #17, #28, #33 and #34 would look awful nice...Can you imagine hitting on all 4 Picks...What a boost that would be to this Roster...NE would be insane to give the Bills that kind of opportunity...For example...The Bills could go ahead and take Locker or Mallett at #17 to secure a QB...Then grab the TE Rudolph at #28, Gabe Carimi at #33, and another Front 7 Defender at #34...They could get 3 starters and a QB of the future by #34 Overall...That would be incredible! Or if you want to go Defense heavy they could grab a guy like JJ Watt at #17, secure a QB at #28, then grab a couple LB's at 33 and 34...I would take that deal in a heartbeat... -
You're 100% right...Of coarse the trick is you have to get the right QB...You have to make the right decision...That being said I still think it's the best risk vs. reward option...Von Miller could turn out to be an All-Pro OLB forever and a day, but without a Franchise QB is it really going to matter much? Every decision about your Franchise gets easier with a Franchise QB in place...But they're so rarely recognizable coming out of College these days...It's a tough business...That's why so many Teams shy away...Then when a QB like Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees falls through the cracks the Teams that passed them and still need a QB look pretty stupid for doing so...It can be a vicious cycle...
