George Edwards' Job Security (Chris Brown)
KOKBILLS replied to Sniper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peppers would have come to Buffalo the minute pigs flew over a newly frozen hell... I do find it interesting that Gailey has molded a fairly efficient Offense with a ragtag bunch while Edwards has struggled to get the job done with arguably more talent overall...If it was defintely Coaching with Jauron, and I think we all know it was, then what is to be said for Edwards efforts thusfar? Because it seems as if Fewell got A LOT more out of less or similar talent... Maybe it's just me, I don't know... -
Seconded for sure!

He's not the only grown man to get a little choked up this AM...I know the morning drive was tough for me listening to Tasker and Talley...Even Robi's segment was a tribute to #67...He will be sorely missed...It's obvious...
-
Yep they sure did...

OH NO! RIP Kent...No question one of the All Time great Buffalo Bills...

Revis is a really good corner but refs make him great!
KOKBILLS replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly... And I think it's pretty sad players who are as talented as this guy is get the extra help...It's not good for the League if you ask me...And of coarse no one did... -

I noticed that as well...Have to give Gruden credit...He actually seemed a bit excited about it... The guy is a great CB no question...I just wonder if he would be considered as good without the Ref help...Because no question he's getting away with A LOT more than most CB's out there...No question whatsoever...If I had the Jets coming up as a HC I would put together a highlight package of blatant Revis PI and send it in to the League Office pronto... -
Pass Rushers....Possible Trade Options
KOKBILLS replied to BiggieScooby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now that is good stuff!!! -
It was more than just stretching the Field at that point of the Game...Don't be naive...The Bills had The Giants on the ropes with only 4 mins left in the Game...They had the chance to score and take more time off the clock...Sure you don't want to run the Ball 3 times there...But you want to play to your Teams strengths at that time, run more time off, and force the Giants to use their TO's if possible...What you're basically saying is that Fitz is about 50% on Passes like that...He makes some and he misses some...Not exactly his strength, and not exactly the Call needed at that point of the Game. Especially when you have a Defense that gives up chunks of yards vs just about everybody in every 4th Quarter...Sure if Fitz throws it perfect and Stevie Scores everybody is happy...But the Giants still get the Ball back with 4 mins left and their TO's...Gailey was exactly right when he did what he had to in order to keep Tom Brady off the Field late in the NE Game...Why change? It's called Game Management and understanding your Team and your opponents strengths and weaknesses...I like Gailey as much as anybody on this Board, but I expected better from a HC as smart as he is...And I also expect he'll do better next time around...
-
I'll second that Simon...And no question I too have been hard on Chan today...But this was simply a bit of growing pains...And I don't think it's unfair to criticize him a bit either...It comes with the territory...The Bills are pushing to be a Playoff Contender and these details matter...But I also have no doubt that Chan will learn from this...And next time when The Bills are in a similar situation Gailey will be ready...I really believe that...
-
He also threw a similar Pass short vs. The Raiders that Donald Jones had to break up to save our chances of winning that game...This is why I put most of the blame on Gailey in this situation...We had a chance to run off some more clock or force the Giants to burn their TO's at the very least...And there are Passes and Pass plays that Fitz throws very well time in and time out...Plus we have that guy named Fred Jackson...Instead he calls this Play that Fitz has a tough time throwing and it's basically an automatic read for Fitz when he gets that Defense...Gailey's got to know his QB a bit more...He HAS to Coach around Fitz's weaknesses and he has for the most part...Plus he's got to know that every second counts when you give ANY Team the Ball back in the 4th Quarter with this Bills Defense...It was a bad throw no question, but it was also poor Game Management and Play Call on the part of our HC... The good news is Gailey is no idiot...And I'm about 100% certain this was a valuable lesson learned...A tough lesson, but one that will help the Bills Win Games down the Road...
-
Exactly...100% agree...
-
Dude...The Jauron days are WAY long gone...Who gives a crap about what Dead Dick did?...He was a brutal Coach...it's over (thank God)...And The Bills are trying to become a Playoff Team...It's different now...There was no reason to go down firing with all bullets...There was no reason to lose this game at all really... Gailey is clearly a good HC...I'm not frying the guy overall...I really like Gailey...But a HC is going to be judged by decisions like this and Game Management...And look...I'm not calling for 3 runs up the middle or anything like that whatsoever...If Gailey wants to throw 3 times there fine...But play to Fitz's strengths...That's all I'm saying...And that throw is CLEARLY not Fitz's strength...Everybody knows it...And for me that's why that Call, at that time, was way too much risk...Gailey just showed too much confidence in Fitz's arm and it cost The Bills the Game...Believe me he's not going to do it again no matter what he says...There's no reason to do it again...The Bills have already proven beyond a shadow of a doubt they can move the Ball in other, FAR safer ways...
-
I'm being 100% honest when I say this, but if your QB is Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Aaron Rodgers I don't think the Play Call is that bad at all...But it's up to Gailey to understand what Fitz does well and what he does not-so-well...And Fitz does have holes in his Game which Gailey has done a masterful job of hiding up to this point...It's also up to Gailey to understand his Defense is not very good at stopping people...So you want to do something at that point to either run more time off the clock, or force the Giants to use their Time Outs...I'm not saying it's a bad Call period...But for this Team, at this point of their growth it was a bad Call and that's why it backfired on them... look it's just one Game and I'm not even that upset about it...But I do think it was a poor Call, that led to a poor Pass, that led to a L instead of a W...
-
Have you seen this Defense play? Trying to run the clock down there and forcing the G-Men to (bare-minimum) use their TO's on that drive would prove to me that Gailey was well aware of the Bills weaknesses on Defense, therefore giving his Team every chance he can to win the Game... It was a bad call because it did not work...It was a terrible call because it backfired big time...
-
Exactly... The fact that Stevie beat his man and the throw was the difference is exactly why you don't call that play there...It's just too much risk at that point of the Game...Why risk it? The Bills had taken the crowd out at that point...They have a 1st and 10 with 4 mins left and they have one of the 3 best RB's in Football...They just over-gambled...Even if they score there they are giving Eli the Ball back with PLENTY of time...Bare minimum you want to force the Giants to use their TO's at that point...Gailey and Fitz basically handed the Giants the chance to win the Game in regulation there...It was a bad Call...If everything goes perfect, and Stevie scores there then great...But it back-fired big time....BIG TIME!!!
-
I hear what you're saying...And yes, 4-2 is fine...But I honestly think they are a heck of a lot closer to 6-0 than 1-5...I really do...The Raiders made some ridiculous plays to stay close in that Game...We basically did not cover Wes Welker for 4 quarters and still beat the Pats...We let The Eagles back in that Game last week, but The Bills were clearly in control early...I know it pisses some around here off, but I still say the Bills win if they call that a catch in Cincy...If it's a catch we're up by 7 with 8 minutes to go and the Ball in Cincy territory...That would have been a mountain for Cincy to overcome...But anyway... I think, like the Cincy Game, what this Game showed is that The Bills are still not quite good enough to close out a Game they clearly could win on the Road vs. a decent Team...That's the next step for this Team...This is a good, young, improving Football Team...And I'll take 4-2 in the next 6 Games as well...
-
Yep... The Bills played pretty dumb as a Team today...And the Coaching was hot and cold...Going back to Fitz taking those sacks in the 1st Half and pushing us out of FG range...Florence not looking back for the ball to make a play...ever...The false start on the last drive...etc... And that INT by Fitz was basically a head-shot to our chances...There is really zero reason to be pushing the ball down the field at that point...And I'll give you that fact that a good Pass is 6 points there no question...But we've got the Giants on the ropes and time is running down...That Stadium was so quiet you could here a pin drop...Fitz and Gailey got greedy and it cost The Bills big-time... Anything but an under-throw there...That was a back-breaker...And I do agree the Bills got away from running it a bit...Got away from Freddie a bit...I had this feeling all Game The Bills knew they were the better Team...But they did not do the little things to close the deal...They should have won this Game by 10 points or more...Oh well...4-2 it is...It's AMAZING how close this Team is to 6-0 though...A play here and a play there...Hopefully we come out of the Bye healthier and a bit more disciplined...This is definitely a good Team...GO BILLS!!!

George Wilson named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
KOKBILLS replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wilson just grabbed the Board and handed it to a Defensive Coach...They showed it on the telecast...Let's not go all "Bruschi" with GW...He's a darn good player and a BIG upgrade over you-know-who...But he's not even working on a cure for cancer yet... -
Remember when people thought Lynch > Jackson?
KOKBILLS replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
HAHA!!! Finally, for once I get to say I was right about something!!! It only took a little over 40 years to get something right!!! Seriously though I'm proud to say I've been in Freddie's corner for a while now...I could never figure out why some Bills Fans did not see what I was seeing in the guy...I've heard a lot of comparison of Freddie to other RB's...But mine has always been Marcus Allen...I've been saying for a while Freddie reminds me of Marcus Allen without the top end speed...Still...That's pretty good... -
The Bills' method of winning is unsustainable.
KOKBILLS replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EXACTLY Bro! I feel like this Team started building character with those close Games last Season, and now they are turning things around and finding a way...They are SO young in SO many different places it's easy to assume they will continue to grow, learn, and like you said, the bumps will start working themselves out...I think this Team is at least a year ahead of Schedule right now based on the way they've played up to this point...Personally I think the way they are winning actually bodes well for the future...Can you imagine how good this Team will be if the D tightens up a bit? -
Wow! A true Football icon...Bigger than life...Makes me feel old to think he's gone... RIP...

Well...I hear you as well...But... We may have been VERY lucky on that call vs. NE, but it was clearly PI...We were lucky because of how bad the Pass looked...But who knows if Nelson wins a jump ball had the Defender not blocked him off and never looked back for the ball... As far as deserving to lose vs Cincy...OK...The way we played AFTER the bad call no question, we deserved to lose...But before that we played 7/8 of an NFL Game on the Road vs. the current #1 Defense in the league and we were up a Touchdown...And lets not forget the drive before that The Bills get a FG and then they held Cincy to a 3 and out...They had the momentum...Then the bad call...Then all hell broke loose...So I don't agree that we deserved to lose up to that point in the Game...It was a pivital point...And yes I definitely think the Bills go on to win if that call goes our way...So does Fred Jackson, so I know I'm not alone...lol...
