I have just been in the House of Commons. The MPs are all visibly moved and did a good job of pushing through despite the trouble. People are pouring onto the streets to walk home. Many people here have decided to bunk down at work over night to avoid problems in the hope that transport will be reinstated sometime tomorrow.

There are STILL no working mobile phone networks... Keep praying he is safe. The landline network is working OK - so if he is near a landline phone he needs tro call someone soon.

All of my friends and family are OK so far as I know right now. Thanks all Will have to look at my original thread. Shame people had to claim it over on PPP - we don't need debate yet.

Thanks all for your kind words... I am just back now from the House of Commons. I have to head back there soon - but it all seems very calm now. The sirens have quit and most people seem to be going about their business as normally as possible. The mood is sombre outdoors and people are being very wary of everything... That there are no tube services and buses is making the city sound very quiet and the roads empty... You can't get a Taxi for love nor money. I hope we are through the worst of it now in terms of bombs. I trust that the explosions have ceased (been centred around 08.49) and we have to pick up the pieces as best we can. The death toll will rise - the casualties will rise - but we will go on anyway, because that's all you can do. I will be walking home today - not going to trust the public transport for a while. It is a 7.1 mile walk thru London...

I have to go over to the House of Commons soon. I will let you all know what it is like outside when I get back...

I know I know. It's all very shocking though. All I can hear out of the windows here at work is sirens... At least the emergency services are well prepared to deal with this - they are doing a superb job. Thank god I don't live in a real warzone like Israel or Iraq... It must be terrifying.

A 'number' of people have died in the explosion at Edgeware Road - per BBC. Numbers look set to rise and rise.

BBC are speculating the Bus bombing was a suicide bomber. Irish terrorism has been ruled out. The Secret Service are fuming apparantly. News reports say that they took pride in having prevented such attacks until now. Safe to say they are taking this seriously.

Well aQ seems a reasonable assumption to me... The continues to be speculation that they are to blame. Thanks for your words of support. We are not yet in the blame process here - waiting to figure out what happens next.

I think it was clear from the outset it was not the IRA.

It's cleared up thankfully. Was a car that didn't have a residents permit... I work right on Whitehall - opposite Number 10. Any attack here and I am right in the thick of it.

They are now describing a 'security incident' about 50 yards from my office.

Good warning. Big city folk should be extra vigilant for suspect packages... If you are going anywhere by air be vigilant for suspicious packages and people. I'm not going anywhere so I'll keep you informed. We're not allowed out of the building.... Have managed to speak to all of my friends and family to confirm they and I are OK. Some of my colleagues here at work were on the trains/tubes affected this morning. Very scary - but all escaped without injury. FYI: Casualty = Injury. If someone dies we call that a fatality.

LATEST: I work in government. The latest news is that 6 explosions have occurred. ALL TRANSPORT in London is now disbaled. People are being urged to stay inside buildings and not go into the street.

More news. Another bomb has gone off near Liverpool Street Station. Seems to me like someone has succeeded in shutting down the Tube and forcing people above ground and then getting som ebombs set off. This is all happening during a busy morning rush hour. This kinda crap is kinda coincidental given the official start of G8... Bloody terrorists... Nuke 'em all

Thanks - the power surge was an early report... We appear to have at least 3 bombs go off now. Some people have died on a Bus that has been exploded...

Don't think this is a joking matter... We have been locked down here in work.
