1. ouch.

TD cannot pick a head coach, and appears to have lost his ability to draft well.

the bills need a front office shake up of the highest order. new GM. new VP. new scouts.

we do deserve better. the entire NFL knows we are owed a superbowl. denver got theirs. it's just us and Minnesota that are owed now - and the vikes are wayyyy closer than we are.

  2. There was some talk yesterday on the British coverage of the NFL about how a coach like Couglin or Parcells coach his teams into good performances with hard discipline and give them the killer instinct.

It strikes me now that for the past few years, and very definately this season, the Buffalo Bills have lacked any killer instinct whatsoever. In many cases our gameplay on the whole has not been a complete disaster - rather, our team has crumbled and committed mistakes when it cam to the crunch. Look back over they years and this is a trait of so many Bills teams. Even the great marvel Marv's teams lacked the killer instinct when it got to the big show.

We have a history lately of coaches who are great guys (Gregg Williams even turned to being a 'friend' of the players after a dismal 3-13 season). Mularky knows how to get players to like him cos he's one of the guys, but is this approach having any effect? Mike Williams slacks off in preseason. Willis and Travis whine like whores about who gets to start with no reproach. We lose in the 4th to big plays to Jacksonville, despite effectively dominating the game. We lose in the 4th to the Raiders on a big play. We lose in the 4th to the Pats, despite having a decent enough game and being in with a shot to win. Where is the ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck and drive home a win when you are in a position to do so?

The players may be fading, we may be in for another 3 to 5 years of poor Buffalo Bills football, but for gods sake - lets do it with some pride. Let's leave other teams feeling like they have taken a smack in the mouth. That has to lie with the coaching staff...

Parcells and Coughlin may not make to many friends on the playing staff - but the boys sure know who is boss and what they have to do to keep a job...

  3. While Henry's face plant into the turf certainly was his fault,  I can't blame him for the fourth down play.  Calling a play where the QB must turn his back to the LOS is a recipe for disaster in that situation.

    55208

Granted. The play call was not the greatest - but it woulda been slightly better if Travis got even a little bit of Bruschi...

  4. I saw the Jests and the Dolfags last night. If there is one comfort at all this season it is that no matter what, the felons are 100% worse than us. Their O is about as puke inducing as those orange jerseys they have played in, and their D has swagger, but just keeps getting burned. I think they miss Ogun more than they hoped they would.

The game last night flattered the Jets D frankly. I'm not scared of the Jets D at all - and their O looked clunky against a Miami team thats playing not to get hurt right now. I think that the Jets struggle to make 9-7 this year, they look 8-8 at best.

No wildcards from AFC East this year..

So what does this mean for us? Well - the Snot will have 250+yards thru the air against us if Milloy is not back. C-Mart will be shut down I am confident of that. Travis will whiff and Vilma will get a couple of sacks on Drew... But that aside, some sensible play calling could keep it a close ball game for the Bills - and while I don't see us winning, we could keep the loss down to 3 points again.

  5. Nick, you're right about that, but at this rate I wonder who'd give us a third rounder for him.

And, as long as we gave our #1 to Dallas - which could very well end up being pick #1, 2, or 3 in the draft, how can we not play Losman this year as soon as he's able to stand up straight?

    55197

Playing Losman is not the answer right now. Maybe if the season is completly lost we throw him in, but our OL is so fu-cked right now - it hardly seems fair on the kid. It's McGahee that needs to see more time in the ball game right now...

  6. On third-and-2 from the Patriots 16, running back Travis Henry was untouched when he fell face-first at the line of scrimmage for a 1-yard loss.

On fourth-down, the Bills called for Bledsoe to run a naked bootleg. But the play was blown up before it had a chance to even develop when Bruschi got to Bledsoe and forced the fumble.

Now look - these two plays right here cost us the game. F-uck the other 19 points that the refs screwed us out of. F-uck the fact that our alleged world class DB's can't cover even the area of a postage stamp. F-uck that we have drafted badly lately and we have no #1 next year. F-uck all of that.

Travis Henry - supposed all star running back. Play me or trade me Travis. The f-ucking man needs a lesson in staying on his feet and how to block.

Take the Iggles game on Sunday. Brian Westbrook - the man they all doubted could be a #1 RB. He runs hard and block harder - he was putting LB's on their ass consitently... Good technique too. He was gettign the chip blocks done, the stand 'em up blocks done, the run fake and blocks done.

Travis Henry has been my biggest disappointment this year and for the last part of last year. There are more Travis apologists here that Drew apologists - and while Drew looks like the goat - just one tiny look at the flim tells you he played a decent game given the tools at his disposal.

The first thing we need to do to kick start our offence is bench Travis Henry. McGahee may not get the real deal yet - but I for one am sick of Travis and his inability to do anything other than run the ball and whine.

  7. Why couldn't we stop the blitzing Patriots? We knew it was coming and we still could not stop the Patriots? Who's fault is that?

It was ugly. :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:

    55170

Mr 'Play-me-or-trade-me' Travis Henry can't block. Simple as. His excuse 'I was faking the run'...

So Travis, fake it - don't just stand there waving the man by... :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:

Here's how we get out #1 pick next year - trade Travis Henry.

  8. Personally, I think every player in the NFL should wear a 40 for the entire season. Tillman deserves that.

    52068

You are right about everything - except that last part. It is too political a statement for the NFL to be invloved with. He deserves it, but the NFL can not and should not be seen in any way as advocating any particular political policy (in this case they would appear to be condemning the policy to go to war).

    Great post tho Bill.

  9. I can understand the NFL.

By fighting every (in the broader or narrower sense) political statement they are able to avoid lenghty (and probably heated) discussion what statements might be appropriate and what statements not.

    51868

Well said. Jake is morally right, but defiance puts the NFL in a hole it could find widening and deepening by allowing this sort of tribute to carry on. Call me cold hearted, but the NFL has honoured Tillman and respected his memory. We won't forget, and nor will Jake, but I think Jake is wrong to defy the NFL and they are right to fine him.

    Rules is rules.

  10. My cat was put down yesterday. She was 17 and really well, until a few weeks ago she got a weird cough, so whent he vet had her in yesterday to x-ray her chest he saw a massive tomour in her larynx and didn't bring her around. She's been my comfort since I was old enough to have a pet - when I was 7 years old. She was a cranky old girl who wouldn't do much except slouch around the place a malt everywhere. But she was a sweetheart deep down and I will miss her. She was our family cat and she will be missed.

My own cat - my parents got me when i was 16 - was the funniest little guy you ever met.. Jet black. Big ears. Big voice. A real tearaway in the field out the back of our house and a real ladies man (despite having no nuts ). I discovered him run over one morning on my way to school on 2 February 1998. He was 3. I still have his ID on my key chain and to think about him always makes my cry.

So this message is one of love for Tinkerbell and Hook. Gone, but not forgotten.

  11. Interesting thought - and worth at least some consideration.

    But I don't buy it.

I am sure that TD felt like he knew a little more about MM than CW or RC and felt that MM could bring in a O package that TD was more comfortable with over Weis (e.g. Tom Clements and the promise of Sam Wyche)...

Drew has virtually no say IMO over what happens front office-wise any more than any other player...

  12. Does it bug anyone else that injury reports are not descriptive?

    for example:

J.P. Losman QB Out Lower leg

    Lawyer Milloy S Out Forearm

    Shaud Williams RB Out Knee

    Mike Pucillo G Questionable Back

    Chris Villarrial G Questionable Abdomen

What about the back on Pucillo?? What type of injury is it?

Did Villarrial eat some bad chicken??

Is Milloy out with his forearm cos the last 12oz curl went badly wrong?

just frustrates me that they are not detailed in any way.
