OK - so the Queen came to my office to visit... Last Thursday. I prepared and planned the visit with a guy on my team - so we were pretty pleased when it went off without a hitch. The Queen was happy and interested, the Defence Minister was happy, so was the Chief od Defence Staff and the Permanent Under Secretary - so we were pretty pleased with ourselves. We'd been planning this for like 6 weeks, so after she left and we got everything back in order, we went down to a boat on the Thames for a night out with the whole team. There was a free bar on the boat. I'd also gotten 5 job offers on the day - so with the free bar I really got down to some good drinking. 3 glasses of champagne, probably 7 or 8 double voka and red bulls, 1 Gin and Tonic, and two beers. By the time to boat docked it was 10pm, and I was feeling pretty tanked - but hyper cos of all the red bull - so we went to a bar down on the Embankment called Motion (it's a regular haunt of mine). In Motion i had at least another 2 double vokas and red bull, a mojito, two beers and 3 Smirnoff Ice (but we did the stawpedo thing with them)... About 2am the bar was due to close and there was only 5 of us left (of of 30 who started the night). We walked/staggered back to the office (bearing in mind my office is the Ministry of Defence Main Building on Whitehall) - and flashed our passes to get in. We shouted all the way on up to our office (on the 8th floor) where i started to type crap on here (sorry). It got to 4am and I had tried to sleep a little under my desk. But the bin was in the way and so too were the wires. So i got up - put my hoody on and headed out onto the street to catch a night bus home. I got the night bus all the way back to Streatham, where I live, in about 55 minutes. As soon as i got off i spewed - it was horrible stuff. Got home at about 5.30am - slept on the sofa until the wife got up at 7am. Went to bed. got up at 10. Got dressed - went to work for an interview I was not a pretty sight... A ton of other stuff happened that I have missed off (most notably my dancing in the club) but you don't need to hear that stuff.

Even if we win one soon - will we be happy. I see no confidence, no assurance, not killer instinct in the way that we are playing. So even if we we one, we'll win ugly, and I don't think that's going to be good enough. These losses may be close - they may look like we have a shot. But in reality - we don't. We look like a team biding time, waiting for January so they can go back home and relax.

I asked Lawyer when he's coming back.....

Then someone teach Lawyer Milloy to tackle properly (head in front, with the shoulder, good arm wrap)... If he did that he wouldn't have to lead with his arm and he could play -
...to make sure that next season is not a bust too... Another REALLY awful season will kill the morale of the fans and the players. I'm not sure TD could weather the storm if we don't at least equal last years record. At least if we do that we can put it down to new Coaches and try again next year. Any worse than that - and this team gets ripped to shreds in the offseason and it's starting from scratch. We have the tools - we just need the instruction manual to teach us how to use them right.

International Bills fans

Ooops - only just saw this... busy day at work... I started out being an american football fan in general when i was 7 or 8 years old. It was on the telly sometimes when I was allowed to stay up late - and I love to see pictures in magazines of Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Lawrence Taylor. I would always pretend to be Dan Marino in my bedroom - throwing socks accross the room and jumping on my bed. When I was 12 - I got the chance to go to a real live american football game at Wembley Stadium. Buffalo Bills against Philadelphia Eagles. My dad took me as a surprise present. I knew nothing about the rules, who the teams were or anything. All I knew is my dad was rooting for the Eagles cos he went to philly with work a couple of weeks before, so I asked him to buy me a Bills cap so I could root against him. Then, when we got to our seats, there we a ton of big guys (remember i was only 12 and these guys were probably only 19 or 20)... Well they were sat there drinking beer and being really loud. Turns out they were students in town from UB - a transfer year. They started to teach me about the game. What was happening - that you had to get 10 yards in 4 plays. That when i shouted "12, 24, 36, 48, HUT HUT" i was being a moron, but what it all meant. They were great guys and the Bills won the game - so I was sold. From that moment the Bills were my team. By the time I could do my own thing properly I was a fully fledged football guy - and started even playing over here. By that time i replaced being Dan Marino with being Kent Hull:D. The Superbowl years did a lot to keep my fandom for sure - i loved that my team was the best you could get - and i think the heartbreak of losing in the big game only did more to solidify my fandom. Also - i got beat up for having a Bills jacket that my dad got sent by a friend in Pittsburgh - that made me defiant, being bullied does that, so I threw myself into the Bills more - to find out about the team, the town, the area... It became a haven when it was rough at school. Dont feel sorry for me tho. It seems like a silly way to become a fan - but thats how it is. I've always been heavily influenced by american culture and values - so being a football fan came easy.... GO BILLS! -

Drew: Guys -I called this meeting because i think we should all grow beards. Travis: Just give me the ball. Bledsoe: Beards, Trav, not ball. Travis: Sorry - I was faking listening. What's that now? Drew: I think we should all grow a beard. It makes us look wise. That way the fans will think that we mean something when we say the stuff about executing better in the post-game interviews. JP: I could grow a beard faster than all of you guys. Eric: Beards don't go too well with my earrings - can i stick with the moustache? Lee: I can't grow a beard. Travis: Gimme the ball - I ain't blocking unless you do. -

You were so great to drive me around when we were in town for the game and to extend your hospitality... How could I forget you? I trust the Beatles memorabilia went down well with your buddy. Next time I am at the Ralph I'll stop by...
