  1. Just to be clear, Beane passed on Creed Humphrey, who was ALL PRO last year, to take a guy he's giving away for a box of tape. In 2025. Wow.
  2. Anyone know why Keenum left in the first place?
  3. Do posters who say "0% chance" understand that means, like, 0% chance?
  4. I'm more upset he gave away a 4 to move up for Elam. Even at the time that seemed like too much to go up just a few spots. In hindsight, it looks even worse, given that he could have taken Tarik Woolen with that 4th, more or less, and a tackle with the 1st pick. They'd have two starters now instead of none.
  5. You're right, and this has been true for a very long time. Yet Beane hasn't drafted one in the first or second round in his tenure, nor has he brought in anything like a Von Miller in free agency. He's going cheap on a position that may be the most important and hardest to fill outside of QB. Elam for a first and fourth? Epenesa and Basham in the second round? It's like he has a blind spot about tackle, or he thinks that Allen will be fine dodging Brown's blown blocks on an every-snap basis (or those of Brown's incompetent backup). I liked the Miller signing, but in hindsight, Beane should have signed the best offensive tackle on the market, OR drafted a tackle instead of Elam, Epenesa, or Basham--or even all three. The Bills would be a better team now if he had.
  6. Is he really 400 pounds? I haven't seen the games or photos of him. Is it really that bad? He's always been soft and fat, but he got the job done.
  7. Agree. Dawkins has been a solid player throughout his career, so he should be fine. Spencer Brown, however, has never been consistently good, or even competent. He's agile, but he gets beat on double moves. He's long, but he gets beaten around the corner. He's strong, but he gets rag-dolled. Brown was promising college player well worth a third-round pick. But he's never shown that he can be a starter, let alone the starter with no competition. Because of that, he is only player that can singlehandedly doom the entire season. He's that bad in a position that important on a team that good.
  8. See, it's inflammatory rumors like this that give this board a bad name. What if it gets out? THINK, man!
  9. It's not that Mahomes had more time, just that he got his throw off more quickly. Think about it: you can't count the seconds he would have had after he throws the ball, right? What we're looking at is guys not being open for Allen, him not seeing them, him not pulling the trigger when they are open, interceptions, dropped passes, and so on. My impression, FWIW, is that Mahomes plays in a far superior scheme. How many times did we see him simply toss the ball to an uncovered Kelse at the two-yard line?
  10. I don't see it as worse, with Saffold, that walking disaster, gone. But I worry about Spencer Brown. If he's a liability again (or once again injured), the Bills willl need to keep Dawson Knox in, as they did last year.
  11. If Spencer Brown goes down, we're in trouble. If Spencer Brown doesn't go down, we're in trouble.
  12. Did you see Denmark get torched on one of the sacks in Saturday's game? The guy ran right around him like he was fence post or Spencer Brown.
  13. Given the competition, both Cook and Kincaid have to be star-quality players this year AND the team has to avoid major injuries AND Spencer Brown has to raise is play to at least mediocre. If all else remains the same (not counting trauma), I don't see why they can't go all the way, even with weak play at MLB.
  14. They should have traded him instead of signing him to a huge contract. Could have gotten at least two first-round picks. He's lazy, arrogant, undersized and doesn't seem particularly interested in winning.
  15. Yet the overwhelming consensus is that Mahomes, playing behind the best OL in the league, is better than Allen, a guy who is running for his life on every other snap. And don't talk to me about Mahomes' two Super Bowls wins. With the KC line, Allen would have at least three. And with Saffold and Brown playing in front of him, Mahomes would have none, like Allen.
  16. I'm happy that Beane replaced Saffold, one of the worst free agents signings in franchise history, and drafted a right guard. But he's counting on Spencer Brown at tackle, and that worries me. Since his rookie season, Brown has been either injured or ineffective, even a downright liability. He has shown promise as a run blocker, and, yes, his injuries means he hasn't had much playing experience, so maybe he'll develop. But that's quite a gamble, given that the backups aren't rock solid. Beane has done a terrific job with the team elsewhere, but, with Brown, he's throwing the dice.
  17. Once again, the biggest weakness is the offensive line, particularly the pass protection on the right side. None of the reports out of training camp that I've seen reassure me on this point. No viable replacements in free agency left, Beane in "Hoping for the best" mode. Again.
  18. I see Settle being cut. He was a bit of a disappointment last year, and Ford can rotate with Oliver.
  19. That was represented as a positive last year, complete with pictures of "ripped Gabe." I'll take his lightness and ankle status with a grain of salt until I see him catch more balls than he drops.
  20. Agreed. It would be better if he were worse because at least he wouldn't be playing. (Yes, it's still too early to say for sure.)
  21. It could be that Benson is just better, not that Elam is bad or even a disappointment.
  22. McKenzie drops the ball on 1st and 10 Davis drops the 47-yard pass into his hands Spencer Brown and Saffold both blow their blocks, leading to the 31-yard incompletion. So there's hope this year!
  23. Wonder if this story will eclipse the scandalous Stephon Diggs story.
  24. Objective numbers? Bah. What's important is the Prevailing Narrative, which declares the Bills to be the third or fourth best team and Allen the third or fourth best QB. As much as I enjoyed the Bills being the media darlings last year, I knew the talking heads would turn on them in a flash if they didn't go all the way as they predicted. And turn on them they have, with a vengeance.
