I didn't mean "randomly" for them or Allen, just the cornerback who often has their back to the play and has no idea where his man is going next. Not sure I agree that these drills are designed; I'd say more often they more follow a "Just get open!" or "Work back to me!" general rule.

The Bills receivers may be becoming the league's best unit in the Fire Drill. Who needs initial separation from elite cornerbacks if you can utterly flummox them by running around randomly after the initial play breaks down--and do so all game long?
-
But you're not fully accounting for why Allen was suddenly able to hit receivers in the fourth quarter. Apart from his abilities, the Ravens defense was exhausted by being on the field so long (25:11-34:49), which was due to Brady's game plan. No, it's not a great strategy for getting down the field, especially quickly, but it keeps the other team's offense on the bench and loads the dice in your favor in the fourth quarter. The game might have been an utter blowout if Brady had opened it up early, gambling that in a track-meet game, Allen et al could score more points against an excellent defense than Lamar and Henry could against a tissue-paper defense.

That'll be a stat frequently mentioned when the MVP race heats up, along with the most overall TDs by a QB in his first eight seasons and the Bills franchise record for rushing TDs, two records Allen already holds. And of course there's the Bills victory over the Ravens two weeks ago. Meanwhile, Lamar is off to a fast start statistically, with seven TDs in two games.

Fun to predict W-L but ultimately silly. So many variables are in play. You can really only talk about probabilities, and even that with a million caveats. But... it's all entertainment, right? And these talking heads need to get clicks.

If my math is right, he could end up top-five on this list. Even top ten is crazy for a quarterback.

That was an absolute piss-missile from Josh. Reminds me of the one he threw a few years ago to Jake Kumerow. Probably takes awhile to get you used to that velocity. Kudos to him for handling it, even with the bobble.

He had a terrific block in the Jets game. Drove his defender away from Cook and kept driving him. I couldn't believe it was Kincaid. (And he does look bigger, especially his hips and butt.)

9/14/25 Week 2 GAMEDAY Bills @Jets post game Thread

Kindest, nicest and also the quickest person in the world! I wish I was that witty. Agreed. Both the players and the coaches deserve all the credit they're getting, on both sides of the ball. I'm especially impressed by the defense, which was not just flying around (they did that last week, too) but executing as well. They adapted, in other words. Bodes well going forward. -

Any sign yet of ref bias for KC? -

You telling me (I can't see the game) that Mahomes threw an interception late in a close game and there wasn't a PI or RTP call? C'mon! -

Moved a lot faster than Hamlin last year on his blitzes, that's for sure. -

Tyrod Taylor is going to score twice for them, and everyone will wonder why they started Fields. We've seen this movie before. -

He also had the run stuff on the previous play. -
Ah, the knowing sneer, a classic of the genre. Free of content, ad hominem, hypocritical, and nasty, worthy of Chiefs Planet.

But they're fun to write! 😀

I stand corrected.

Who would you rather start vs the Jets? Tre’Davious or Strong
finn replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
Strong's TD-saving tackle of Henry in the fourth-quarter made me a fan. He's giving up 60 pounds on Henry, who had a full head of steam, and he took him out. I like White, but I see him bouncing off a big RB in that situation. -
I only say that because they're currently the worst defense in the league in both yards and points. Not sure what other metric to use. Quality of post-game interviews? No contest on that one, although one could argue Allen and the offense had something to do with that, at least this last game.
-
McBeane built this team to beat KC, which it can't do, at the expense of being tissue paper against power teams like Baltimore. A lose-lose proposition, at least so far. The only redeeming quality I can see is that they play with heart and get turnovers, as in the Ravens game. Otherwise, the best they can do is serve as a speed bump so Allen has at least a fighting chance of scoring more points than they give up, again as in the Ravens game. If I'm the Jets, I play classic ball control. Short throws, 3.5 yards per carry, milk the clock, 43-minute TOP. Keep Allen on the bench and exhaust the small, overmatched defense. If you're facing arguably the worst defense and best offense in the league, which do you keep on the field and which do you keep on the sidelines?
-
Right. Watching the game again when the Ravens were on offense is painful. To their credit, the defense rallied to the ball and didn't give up, but the tackles were consistently shunted aside, the ends never got home, the tiny linebackers were either out of position or blown up by blockers, and the safeties were either slow or took bad angles. Only Bosa, Benford, and Strong did ok. Not great, at all, but ok. Oliver, though, wow. It was like watching a NFL player on a college team. Where can we find 10 more of him? (Or 11, since he, of all people on that wretched defense, is out.)

An instance where it wasn't a mistake for Henry to use the stiff arm but rather it didn't help him was Dorian Strong's TD-saving tackle along the sideline of Henry in the second quarter (11:14). Henry was barreling along and tried to stiff-arm Strong, but Strong just knocked his arm away and made the tackle. Compare to Bishop's missed tackle on Henry's TD run at the 13:30 mark. Bishop actually did smash Henry's arm down, but it looks like he had taken a slightly wrong angle and he was too far behind Henry to drive into him. An instructive comparison for the Bills secondary. Strong showed hustle (he was the off corner), speed, and excellent tackling form. Maybe he should play safety.
