The media was being completely unreasonable. How dare they ask the Saints to clarify the exact information so they could get it out to their readers. The Saints are World Champions and their scatological leavings are no longer odorous.
Grow up, Saints media department. You're being !@#$ing tools.
The Saints are tools to the media and the fans? Who cares, they won a Super Bowl for those same fans. That is all that should matter. The media always seem to feel that they run everything. Bill Parcells and Mike Ditka were ready to beat up any reporter who questioned any of their decisions. And I thought that was pretty hilarious. The media plays WAY to big a role in sports today. Good for the Saints to put them in their place.

he's a much better qb than anyone on our roster. fosho
That is saying absolutely NOTHING NewEra. I went to the Bills-Redskins game in DC late in the 2007 season. Campbell was terrible. He was tentative and slow both in foot speed and decision making. If he was so good, why would the Redskins give up two relatively high draft picks to get McNabb who is NOT anywhere close to great anymore?
I would much rather take a chance on Bulger. We would not have to give anything up, and while the guy has been beat up the past few years, he is a pure passer who with a little bit of time can really throw the ball around. A junior Kurt Warner in my estimation. Sign Bulger and draft at least 3 O lineman to team with Wood, Levitre and Green. Next year we can go after our QB of the future.

lol nice post. I like Graham a lot. I'd only be happy if we traded down to get him, then focus on offense. Our offense is the reason we are a laughing stock of the NFL. We signed Chan to make sure our offense improves. Now we need some talent to make sure that that happens. Offense at pick 9 if we don't trade down.
New Era I totally agree with you. This is a tough one for me. I am a huge Wolverines fan, and for the past two seasons Brandon Graham was our ENTIRE defense. He had very little around him, and still made many plays every single game. He is tough, competitive and very athletic. I think he is the whole package.
That being said, our O line sucks bigtime. We need a major league LT if we want any chance of moving the football. It is as simple as that. If we can trade down and still get a starting LT in the second round, than I would definitely take Graham middle of the first round. But that is up to our front office to find a LT who can step up and play right away who everyone is not going crazy over as a first round pick. If we can somehow get Graham, bring in a LT who can play and get an extra pick in the process than this team is on its way. (hey a guy can dream, can't he?)
My perfect scenario would be to trade down in first round 6-9 spots, take Graham mid round and than grab the best LT prospect and possibly Tebow in the second round. If Tebow is gone, than we take Pike or Lafeveur in a later round to compete for the starting QB job.
It is quite the dilemma, because Graham will be a STUD in the pros.

The thing is, we are paying him a ridiculous amount of money. Anyone know what he is due to make this year?
There is no salary cap this year, so he doesn't cause us a money crunch. The guy is a decent player (not great, but decent) He will probably be in some kind of front seven rotation. I don't think we are going to have 4 DE's and 4 OLB's that are better than him. He is always good for at least a couple of strong plays per game. That being said, if we could get at least a 3rd round pick for him, I think we should trade him.

I was thinking more of SB in 2003 and NFC Championship in 2005. Our players would follow that I think. Holmgren thinks his guys would. I would before I'd follow Brohm or Fitz or Trent ...
Dude, have you not watched the NFL the past 2 seasons??? Jake Dellomme SUCKS!! You lose all credibility when you make statements like this!!
-
More than half of Byrds int's were due to the qb making a bad play, not byrd making a good play. All he has shown is that he can catch the ball. He is slow and takes terrible angles to the ball. Still needs alot of work and probably wont develop into a superstar like people think.
You are a RETARD. The guy has the best hands of any safety in the league. I don't believe he dropped one ball that was anywhere near him. He caught several that were inches from the ground. He is definitely not slow. But you very well maybe with posts such as this.

Fitz is the class of the 3 QBs we have on the roster right now. If we did nothing, I'd be for Coach Gailey designing up an offense around him. He's not accurate and erratic, true. But he's got the fire to win. That's important. In that Indy game, yeah we were playig chumps, blah, blah, blah, but he played great in the blizzard. Can you honestly see Trent doing that? He didn't even look cold.
Put him in there, throw some screens, run the freakin' football, throw some 10-15 yard passes which he seems to be good at and Trent sucks at coupled with an aggressive improved D and we could battle it out for the last playoff spot into mid December.
If we don't get another QB, unless Brohm sets the world on fire during pre season, this is my stand.
I agree with you. Fitz is a gamer. Edwards is not. And we know nothing about Brohm. With a revamped O line (that means having TWO OT that belong in the NFL, and a gameplan that belongs in the NFL, I think Fitzie can be reasonably successful. While his accuracy is pretty poor, the guy is not afraid and will do what it takes to win. Watch the 4th quarter of the Dolphins home game last year. He played well. Jauron and Van Pelt had no idea how to run an offense. With some real coaching Fitzie has some potential. Besides who else are we bringing in?
We have to draft a LT with our first pick. Maybe a QB later rounds? But I don't think that will be out Fitzie.

Hmm...Interesting thoughts. And I think I agree with most with the exception of one big caveat. I'd argue that the Browns have probably made more bad moves than us these past few years. The difference is that the owner goes out and hires someone with serious credibility. Swoosh - FAs and players suddenly believe.
I don't doubt that Nix and Gailey have some skill sets. But whether they have enough juice and credibility to inspire and convince folks that things will turn around is an entirely different matter. We can sit around here and say well they just need to draft well and win games and everything will be OK. But the truth is people inside *and* outside the franchise need to believe we'll turn it around. That doesn't happen by hiring marginally successful guys and inserting them into leadership roles and hoping/believing they will succeed.
It happens by hiring an inspiring leader and giving him the tools to succeed. Cleveland is making some moves that if Nix/Gailey made them we'd be questioning their sanity. But because it's Holmgren he is being given the benefit of the doubt. It's called credibility.
Right now we as a franchise just don't have it. Sure it will come by winning. But I'll wager a beer that no one currently outside of the two of them believe it will happen. That's the problem.
They need to target some solid, inspiring veterans to bring a different culture into the locker room. You can't coach that. You need guys to show the present Bills how that's done. There's only a couple right now that I think are legit leaders on the team. Problem is they haven't won anything.
More than ability, this team needs inspiration. Guys who can rally the troops and give the fans a reason to believe. And yes, that will cost more than a roll of tape and cleats.
C
Great post. We as a team have earned the reputation of not having any credibility. All these great young players that Nix is supposedly going to draft will need some very established solid veterans to show them the way. I would be quite happy if we can bring in a good receiver and two more front seven veterans on defense thru free agency. That would give us two solid vets on each side of the ball from free agency for those of you who can't count above one. (Yes I think Cornell Green will be solid-I believe Oakland played with much more heart than we did last year-just watch a replay of their wins at Pittsburg and Denver) These veterans will be the mortar that will hold the foundation of the team together.
And who is going to be our QB? I think it is very important than this new regime give the fans some idea of what they are planning on doing. It is called accountability, and I believe they owe that much to us given how bad the Bills have been for so long.
-
That was dumb as hell. We are building through the DRAFT period. If you and others can't get that, or don't like it, maybe its time to find a new team? Nix has already said he is not going to sign bigtime 'Name' players and I agree with him, they are not worth it.
If some mid tier guys want to be here fine, if not fine. It is time to rebuld through the DRAFT and resign and keep our own.
You post more than most people text. And for the amount you post, you say very little. We still need two tackles, depth on the interior of the OL, help at WR, TE, and at least 4 more guys who are good in our front seven, and a QB. And you think we are going to draft all those players. What you say makes no sense. There are plenty of solid veterans who are available this year in free agency. And by just signing one O lineman so far, we are making a HUGE mistake. Sure we need to draft some solid players, but we need to improve right away. What is wrong with bringing in "name" players? Every other team in the league tries to do that. "Name" players are usually pretty darn good. And that is the problem with our team. We don't have a lot of GOOD players. Our talent across the roster is probably bottom 5 in the league. You think just drafting is going to make us competitive? Keep dreaming. This was a horrible 6-10 team last year that played like a 3 win team most of the time. Tell me what have we done to get better other than bringing in Cornell Green.
When you bring a free agent in for a visit, it should ONLY be with the intention of signing him. Otherwise don't waste your time. The only way we can sign anyone is to overpay, because why would most players want to play for a team that has been as bad as we have for so long? And we don't seem to even want to pay market value for anyone. I am as big a fan as anyone on this board. But I am quite disappointed by the inactivity shown by our front office again. Has anyone looked at our receivers at this moment? Evans, Johnson, Parrish and Hardy. Enough said. Our TE's? Nelson, Schouman, Stupar and Klopfenstein. Our QB's? ARGHHH!!!

i don't think they want high pick , they got him for a third and the bloom is off the rose. I bet 4th gets it done. That said he is not the answer
Why is he not the answer? The guy is big, can move reasonably for a man his size, and has a bad attitude. He certainly IS part of the answer.

Some teams will say the object is to be fiscally responsible and play the wait and see game WRT a potential lockout. That's understandable, but for a franchise 0 fer 10 in playoff appearances, the lack of a sense of urgency is alarming. Apparently the team believes fans will come back in droves because the team is here. I'm not certain that the plan is anything but trying to be profitable.
A team's historical results on the field matter. To some fans more than others.
BillsVet I do not always agree with your negative tone. But I completely agree with you saying that the lack of any sense of urgency is alarming. How do we plan on getting better? This is a team that has consistently been one of the NFL's worst for the past decade. I have heard nothing from anyone at OneBillsDrive about any plan whatsoever to move this team forward. Is there a plan? If there is, I would sure like to know from someone in charge. Give us some idea of what kind of team we are trying to put together. I am not sure anyone in the front office or coaching staff even knows.

I'm with ya...I'm not expecting or demanding any blockbuster moves...but a team with this many needs for STARTERS (2 OTs, one G, at least one DE, 2 LBs, a WR, QB, maybe another RB if Marshawn is one his way out), has *GOT* to fill some of the holes via free agency. If we're going to do it solely through the draft we're going to be another 5 years from contending for a playoff spot.
Now its still early, and there's a number of guys out there who can help, but if we walk away empty, we've got problems
I totally agree. You win with a mixture of guys picked up in free agency and thru the draft. We have holes at TE, OL, WR, DL, LB and QB. I would say that is a good two thirds of the team. Sure we can draft some guys. But are we going to have the majority of our starters as first and second year players? That does NOT win in the NFL. We need some veterans to show how to win. If we can't sign some mid level veterans to bring a sense of stability, and show the young guys how to win, what is Nix even here for? I would have thought we would have guys lined up and down One Bills Drive ready to discuss contracts.
To do nothing is pathetic, and will just make me more angry as a fan. The stench of last season, (the whole decade for that matter) and particularly the loss to the Falcons (game I was at) will not go away until some MAJOR changes in personell are made. The less that is done, the more it looks like Nix is another Ralph puppet with no intentions on changing anything. Time will tell though. I hope I am wrong.

I have a friend who's boss is really good friends with Jim Kelly, he says Jim knows someone who knows Donovan Mcnabb and Mcnabb says we are probably going to get a RT and a LT either sometime during free agency or during the draft. Not sure who's Mcnabbs source, but I think it could be pretty credible.
And that is news that we are going to get an OT. We had the worst in the league last year. So you are going out on a limb by saying the obvious? Go back in your cave, and try and think of something a little more original dude!!
-
It's not stupid. Austin Collie and Piere Garccon? Polian just has a way of DRAFTING to keep plugging guys into the system.
And you don't think that the system is PEYTON MANNING? Lee Evans and anyone else we have would thrive with Peyton as well.
-
How many players on the Colts played for another team?
I don't remember the exact number, but it is single digits, and one of them is Vinaterri.
They seem to be pretty competitive.
Washington is constantly going through another big change, because they spend a ton of cash on aging players in FA, and it never seems to work out.
Players that are truly invaluable to their teams never hit free-agency. Ones that do are guys that are not worth the asinine amount of money they are going to demand.
Wow, that is a stupid post. The Colts have Peyton Manning. They don't have to bring in a bunch of free agents when they have one of the top 5 QB's of all time. When our team has been just putrid for the past decade you do whatever it takes to get better in a hurry. Free agents, drafting better, trades, CFL, it doesn't matter. You have to clean house and start fresh. And if that includes vets over 30 so be it.
-
Had his best season in Baltimore last year...nothing amazing though, just 400 yards and a TD.
We'd still have to add a second WR, he's more of a slot guy.
Washington is a lot bigger than Josh Reed, and he is more athletic. He can definitely help our offense.
-
So is Buddy batting .500 since most people hated not tendering Incognito but like Scott re-signing?
What on earth did Incognito do that everyone is so excited about? He is an average player at best. Just because we did not tender him doesn't mean we can't resign him. Do you think he is the second coming of John Hannah? I sure don't.
-
At least he is a lot bigger than Maybin. I would be happy if we just bring in D lineman that all weigh over 300 pounds.

Bills
Sabres
Michigan Wolverines Football. Go Blue baby. Those are the only three I need.
Can't stand baseball and basketball
I do love my son's middle school football team. Walton Jr. Raiders from East Cobb, Georgia. Won the N. Ga. Championship this past year at 12-0, and noone came within 2 touchdowns of them in a 31 team league. And I don't expect them to lose in his next two seasons. Nice to watch a well coached winning team at least once a weekend!!
-
Come on guys, RT's are not that hard to find. They mainly run block and that is it. Butler is not a loss at all.
I agree. Just because he did not suck, certainly doesn't mean he was very good. I always thought he was average at best, certainly not dominant. We need to sign a RT in free agency and draft at least one if not more LT's.
-
Will McClain be there after we address NT, QB and LT? If so great. If not, pass. We need a QB and lines before going after any linebackers in the draft.
Dude we need linebackers as much as any position on the team. If McClain is there at number 9, he is as good a choice as any. The guy can play football and he came from a winning program. Besides we have free agency to pick up several players at several positions of need. I would not be suprised if we sign players at two of the positions at least that you mention in free agency. We need to sign at least 4 or 5 solid contributors in free agency to get this program turned in the right direction. That will allow us to target specific needs in the draft. I think Nix and Gailey will get it turned around.

The Who sounded good for the Who but lets face it most young people probably didn't remember any of the songs they did unless they watch CSI. They weren't the primier supergroups of the time (Beatles, Stones, LZ, Hendrix) but indeed had a following because of the success of Tommy the rock opera.
So why not dredge up Led Zepplin or Pink Floyd or the Police. Some one that actually kicked some butt back in the day.
Some suggestions for next year.
Frankie Avalon
Bobby Rydell
Freddie and the Dreamers
The Zombies
Hermans Hermits
Tommy James and the Shondells
1910 Fruitgum Company
The Grass Roots
or last but not least the Dave Clark 5, 4, 3 ,2 , or 1
Where in the hell is Tiny Tim when you need him.
You are telling me the Police kicks butt over the WHO? I so think NOT!!! The Who was tremendous in their time. They are just old now. But listen to their music on a CD instead of how they sound now, and they still frikin ROCK!!

Yeah... I mean, at 23, this guy has had it. I mean I know I never made any poor decisions when I was 23.
Half of the people here were riding Beast Mode nuts a year ago...now everybody has had it with Lynch, and all of his antics, which are blown out of proportion (minus gun incident.)
We could trade him, or release him or any of the other brilliant ideas suggested by the intolerant, short sighted, fickle posters on here... but the good news is we have a good GM, and assessing the situation will probably not decide to create another hole on a team that has too many to begin with.
I like the one-year-wonder thing, too. He ran for over 1,000 yards his first two seasons...he, also showed dramatic improvement the second half of the year. He added weight in the off-season, which clearly didn't work for him. 5 will get you 10 he drops about 15 lbs this off-season, and if a monster next year.
A 30 year old back, with no back up...so we draft a replacement? The best answer to that was Spiller at #9, WTF??? Yeah, forget the LT/QB/LB debate...let's draft a !@#$ing RB at #9...and a CB in Rnd 2.
I don't know if Lynch did something personally to half of you, or what, but he is a talented back. He is experiencing some growing pains, which I'm sure you never did. He also, just so happens, to fit Gailey's ideal offensive plan to a T. So, a 7th rounder for him should suffice, right?
It's no wonder he is a jerk to people when they harass him at the mall...
He is not THAT talented. He is above average on a good day. He does not consistently find a hole and run straight thru it. As far as NFL caliber running backs are concerned, he is middle of the pack at best. You want talented, watch Ray Rice or Chris Johnson-that is TALENT. The excuse about him being 23 and suffering growing pains is BS. The guy makes dumb decisions and gets in trouble on a pretty regular basis. He has no idea how to act like a professional. If you are a superstar, it will be tolerated. If you are another "guy" which is all he is and will ever be, get rid of him for the best deal possible. We haven't won anything with any of the guys on this roster. So as far as I am concerned, (and management should feel the same way) NOONE is near untouchable on this roster. If it were up to me, I would turn over two thirds of our current roster.
-
You may not be right about Stallworth, but you are right about the glaring need for some receivers.
Evans, Johnson, Hardy...we are really going to win with them?
Totally agree. Our receivers as a collective unit are mediocre at best. When do any of them get separation on a regular basis. The answer is never. Sure we want to give Hardy and Johnson a chance. But I think we need two additional guys who are fairly big and can run. Look at any of the top offenses in the league and they all have at 4 or 5 very solid WR's on their roster. Our receivers have been very underwhelming for most of the past decade. Anyone who says otherwise has not been watching us play very closely. When a team has not had a 300 yard passer in three seasons, it falls on more than the QB play.

Jason Taylor signs with the Jets. Bills fall farther behind pack

Does Torry Holt even play anymore? He has nothing left in the tank. You think if he could play that the Jaguars would not have tried to keep him? I have read your posts for a long time and you are one of the most NEGATIVE posters about the Bills on this message board. I have never heard you say anything positive about the team. And as for Jason Taylor, the guy is 35 and will most likely play 20 plays until he gets injured again. I would rather have Schobel at this point in both their careers.
