Come on guys, RT's are not that hard to find. They mainly run block and that is it. Butler is not a loss at all.
I agree. Just because he did not suck, certainly doesn't mean he was very good. I always thought he was average at best, certainly not dominant. We need to sign a RT in free agency and draft at least one if not more LT's.
-
Will McClain be there after we address NT, QB and LT? If so great. If not, pass. We need a QB and lines before going after any linebackers in the draft.
Dude we need linebackers as much as any position on the team. If McClain is there at number 9, he is as good a choice as any. The guy can play football and he came from a winning program. Besides we have free agency to pick up several players at several positions of need. I would not be suprised if we sign players at two of the positions at least that you mention in free agency. We need to sign at least 4 or 5 solid contributors in free agency to get this program turned in the right direction. That will allow us to target specific needs in the draft. I think Nix and Gailey will get it turned around.

The Who sounded good for the Who but lets face it most young people probably didn't remember any of the songs they did unless they watch CSI. They weren't the primier supergroups of the time (Beatles, Stones, LZ, Hendrix) but indeed had a following because of the success of Tommy the rock opera.
So why not dredge up Led Zepplin or Pink Floyd or the Police. Some one that actually kicked some butt back in the day.
Some suggestions for next year.
Frankie Avalon
Bobby Rydell
Freddie and the Dreamers
The Zombies
Hermans Hermits
Tommy James and the Shondells
1910 Fruitgum Company
The Grass Roots
or last but not least the Dave Clark 5, 4, 3 ,2 , or 1
Where in the hell is Tiny Tim when you need him.
You are telling me the Police kicks butt over the WHO? I so think NOT!!! The Who was tremendous in their time. They are just old now. But listen to their music on a CD instead of how they sound now, and they still frikin ROCK!!

Yeah... I mean, at 23, this guy has had it. I mean I know I never made any poor decisions when I was 23.
Half of the people here were riding Beast Mode nuts a year ago...now everybody has had it with Lynch, and all of his antics, which are blown out of proportion (minus gun incident.)
We could trade him, or release him or any of the other brilliant ideas suggested by the intolerant, short sighted, fickle posters on here... but the good news is we have a good GM, and assessing the situation will probably not decide to create another hole on a team that has too many to begin with.
I like the one-year-wonder thing, too. He ran for over 1,000 yards his first two seasons...he, also showed dramatic improvement the second half of the year. He added weight in the off-season, which clearly didn't work for him. 5 will get you 10 he drops about 15 lbs this off-season, and if a monster next year.
A 30 year old back, with no back up...so we draft a replacement? The best answer to that was Spiller at #9, WTF??? Yeah, forget the LT/QB/LB debate...let's draft a !@#$ing RB at #9...and a CB in Rnd 2.
I don't know if Lynch did something personally to half of you, or what, but he is a talented back. He is experiencing some growing pains, which I'm sure you never did. He also, just so happens, to fit Gailey's ideal offensive plan to a T. So, a 7th rounder for him should suffice, right?
It's no wonder he is a jerk to people when they harass him at the mall...
He is not THAT talented. He is above average on a good day. He does not consistently find a hole and run straight thru it. As far as NFL caliber running backs are concerned, he is middle of the pack at best. You want talented, watch Ray Rice or Chris Johnson-that is TALENT. The excuse about him being 23 and suffering growing pains is BS. The guy makes dumb decisions and gets in trouble on a pretty regular basis. He has no idea how to act like a professional. If you are a superstar, it will be tolerated. If you are another "guy" which is all he is and will ever be, get rid of him for the best deal possible. We haven't won anything with any of the guys on this roster. So as far as I am concerned, (and management should feel the same way) NOONE is near untouchable on this roster. If it were up to me, I would turn over two thirds of our current roster.
-
You may not be right about Stallworth, but you are right about the glaring need for some receivers.
Evans, Johnson, Hardy...we are really going to win with them?
Totally agree. Our receivers as a collective unit are mediocre at best. When do any of them get separation on a regular basis. The answer is never. Sure we want to give Hardy and Johnson a chance. But I think we need two additional guys who are fairly big and can run. Look at any of the top offenses in the league and they all have at 4 or 5 very solid WR's on their roster. Our receivers have been very underwhelming for most of the past decade. Anyone who says otherwise has not been watching us play very closely. When a team has not had a 300 yard passer in three seasons, it falls on more than the QB play.
-
Totally agree, as long as he stays out of trouble this offseason and is ready to go for a full training camp, I don't see how you can move him. He and Jackson should be a great duo next season.
What were you watching this past season? Lynch was horrible most of the time. He plays like he doesn't care, and has absolutely no vision in finding holes. If we can get a 2 or even a high 3 for him, we need to get rid of him. The guy is tough, but has no burst or wiggle. There are many guys we can replace him with in the league and out of the league right now. Lynch is just a "guy". Nothing special. I would much rather have a Pierre Thomas type back than Marshawn.
-
But he did coach AMERICAN QBs.
I hear you, though. I can't think of a single Canadian Football League QB coming to the NFL and having success.
Somewhere, Joe Kapp weeps.
GO BILLS!!!
Did you ever hear of a QB named Warren Moon? Started his career with the Edmonton Eskimos. And there was this little guy named Flutie who was the best QB we had since Jimbo. Played for the Calgary Stampeders for a whole lot of years.

I dont mean this in a nasty way...can you explain to me what makes whitner good? I just dont see it. I think he talks the talk...you know the rest.
Youboty is always hurt..and back to what nix said..its a tough mans game and you have to be tough. We have players that dont play thru injury.
The reason we have been bad for so long is exactly because guys like Donte Whitner are on the team. He SUCKS plain and simple. The guy is just not a good athlete. He is small, can't cover anyone, has no ball instincts, and gets injured every year because he gets beat up playing in the box because he is TOO SMALL. I may be harsh, but anyone who thinks he is even remotely above average has not watched his play over the past 4 years, and compared it to other safeties around the league. I see no reason whatsoever that he is back. He is in the last year of his contract. No way we give him an extension. He just has NO upside.
I agree about Youbouty.. He is ALWAYS hurt. We can replace him with Lankster and Corey Harris. It is time we upgrade all positions that do not have studs in them. And that definitely means Whitner is gone. He is worse than Byrd, Wilson and Scott. An upgrade at the strong safety position would be nice, with Scott and Wilson providing depth.

"This guy's got a great clock in his head," Williams told 104.5 The Zone, via ESPN.com. "The big thing is that he throws the ball so early that we're going to have to do a good job of finding ways to get to him and when we do get to him we're going to have to make sure he gets a couple 'remember me' shots when we get there."
____________
"When you put too much of that type of worry on a warrior's mind, he doesn't play all out," Williams said. "If it happens, it happens. And the only thing you'd like for me to say is that if it happens you hope he doesn't get back up and play again."
It sounds to me like the comment is taken out of context. The "You'd like for me to say" thing makes me wonder. If he said that then he's a reeeeeaaaaalllllll idiot. The Saints defensive players are going to be watched like hawks by the officials. It might also make the Indy D be more aggressive.
Unfortunately, I'm still rooting for N.O.. Williams getting a ring will just be a sad consequence.
That will easily be remedied when a Colt O lineman takes Bobby McCray's knees out, which needs to happen after the shots he put on Warner and Favre. The Saints don't have a prayer in this game. No way there secondary can cover the Colts' receivers. I think the Jets D is far superior to the Saints anyways. The Colts know the Saints will try and blitz. Once they beat it, which they will by the second qtr, the game is theirs.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, yeah, Happy....Go Bills..Go wrap up in your Bills Snuggy.

Why are you even on here? Has the cold of Pa. rotted your brain? If you have nothing even remotely intelligent to add to any conversation on here, why don't you go back in your tent and play with yourself my friend? Your negativity is downright pathetic. If you don't have hope that "this" year is going to be much better, than go root for somebody else loserman!!!
-
Chief fans seemed VERY happy to rid themselves of Joe D’Alessandris.
That makes me reaaaaaaaaalllyyy nervous.
Just like we were very happy to get rid of all our coaches including Kugler on the O line.
-
That is BS, most would have been happy with Frazier, and satisfied with Fewell even.
Gailey is a mediocre college coach that has not worked in a year. The Bills FO could not have chosen worse. Par for their course.
It is really incredible how they manage to squeeze the absolute worst out of an admittedly bad situation.
What are you talking about "satisfied with Fewell"? Fewell had no clue to being a head coach. Did you really think we played consistently better under him than Jauron? We blew the Jacksonville game late-now thats a first, and looked horrible against the Jets in Toronto, NE at home, and don't even talk about the Falcons game-worst performance this side of the Sunday nite NE debacle of 2007. He was as conservative in his gameplan as Jauron. We played one very good quarter under Fewell-4th against Miami, and the rest was the same as the entire Jauron era.
Did you really expect the Bills to make a splashy hire? We are a bottom feeder franchise right now. No supposed "stud" coach was going to come here. The Bills knew that, and we as fans know that. That being said, maybe Gailey with some help from Nix finding players came mold a team into something that is at least bearable to watch. We obviously did not have many options. If you are a fan of this team, you support whoever is the coach until he proves you wrong. What other choice do you have other than to go find another team my friend? But don't ever tell me that Fewell was satisfactory. The guy had no clue. Remember him punting from Atlanta's 36 yard line late in the first half down 17-0 when we were 5-9 on a 4th and 3? Yea, that call sure inspires confidence in ones team!!!
-
So we offered the job to a College HC who has a losing record and his only real NFL Exp outside of being an average QB is a couple years as a QB coach?
Holy **** Ralph, Russ and Nix have no damn clue
You are stupid. Jim Harbaugh was an excellent NFL QB-not Hall of fame, but pretty darn good. He was one dropped Hail Mary from taking the 1995 Colts to the Super Bowl against the Cowboys. He could throw the hell out of the ball, had good mobility, and was very gritty and an excellent leader. He was better than any QB we have had on the roster since Jimbo.
-
Do you realize that the Bills have had a total of two interviews so far? You would think they would have an interview every other day at minimum. I'm starting to think that everyone has been hanging up on Nix. I mean everyone. People here want Cowher or Gruden??? The Bills will be lucky to get Rich Kotite and Wayne Fontes. We fired everyone and now no one will come here. Meanwhile, all the "crappy" coaches we thought sucked are getting hired by better NFL teams. We may be the first NFL team where the players have to coach themselves.
PTR
I believe Wayne Fontes died in the past few months. Maybe we can exhume his body and put him in a chair on the sidelines-he will still have more vitality than Dicky J. Kind of how Marv looked in the Monday nite house of horrors against the Cowboys in 2007.
-
While most fans want to see Cowher be the guy, the fact is, there are guys who have never been head coaches in the NFL who will be very good head coaches when they get the chance. Frazier might be one of those guys if hired. We don't know. Problem is that 10 years of losing and living through the Williams/Malarkey/Jauron years mean that a guy like Frazier will be judged before he holds his first minicamp.
Of course we all want to see Bill Cowher as our headcoach, but lets face it, he is NOT coming here. I think we all can agree on that. The team is a mess from top to bottom. Bill doesn't want to deal with that. So it will be up to a
lesserknown guy to come in and make his mark. We have put ourselves in this position because of a decade of just horrible season after horrible season with terrible personel decisions. We can only hope that the guy we bring in as THAT GUY!! But regardless of who is our coach, we need to start bringing in some solid winning potential star type players. Most won't be stars, but we have to build a team of very good players. We have not had that since the 90's. It will be a very difficult but not impossible task. We can only hope that our next coach seriously has a plan to make this an NFL team. And I would think to do that at least 40% of the team has to turn over. I will support any Bills head coach until he proves me wrong. Everyone of us owes him at least that much.
-
Drafting any player in any round is a roll of the dice. We need a franchise QB. If Nix identifies Bradford or Clausen as that guy, you have to do whatever it takes to get him in Rd1. If not, go O-line and then take a chance on one of the other guys later. I think they will find a QB either in Free ageny, trade or Round 1.
My god our tackles were just AWFUL this year. Unless Suh falls to #9 (which he definitely won't), we have to take any LT stud that can step in and start immediately. We can get a right tackle in free agency, and take Lafever in the 2nd round if he is still there. We have so many holes to fill-DE,DT, LB's that we have to go heavy in free agency to make the draft as productive as possible. But my god, our OT's were as bad a group as I have EVER seen in the NFL.. And Bell is just horrible. He should not be on an NFL roster!!
-
I'm interested in seeing what another coaching staff will do with him. He is versital and was playing great against the run until he got hurt (not benched as someone said earlier). He seems like the type of player that would do better in a more attacking style defense than in our current scheme. I'd like to see him at SS for the full year where they allow him to play at the LOS and blitz instead of lining him up at three different positions.
Your theory sounds fine and good, but actually states one of his biggest problems, and that problem includes many of our other defenders as well. When Donte Whitner plays near the line of scrimmage, he is eventually going to get injured because he is just TOO SMALL. I would give him at most 3 games before he gets injured again playing near the LOS. And that goes for many on our TINY defense. Undersized guys playing out of position. They all get hurt. Whitner is a marginal backup in the NFL game because he is too small to play near the LOS consistently without getting hurt, and he is definitely not quick enough nor has the instincts to play a good FS or nickel cornerback. How our front office did not see that is unbelievable.

I second this part. When I remembered he was even on the team yesterday, I tried to watch him on a few plays. He was being manhandled by the offensive lineman he was going up against. He tried to bull rush once, and was totally stood up and engulfed. Got zero push. Then, we had his typical outside pass rushing loops a few times. I didn't notice him try and go inside too much. But on the rush where he didn't "loop", he was absolutely manhandled. Pathetic actually.
PS - I go to about 3 or 4 PSU games a year, and was sickened by this pick when the Bills made it. I sure hope it turns out well though.
Look at his size or lack there of. He is a taller version of Bryan Scott at best. It is absolutely ridiculous that someone thought this guy could play D line in the NFL. Didn't they look at his body before drafting him? He makes Schobel look like a big thick guy!! It is comical watching him try and rush the passer. He looks like a high school player. Lets hope a new strength and conditioning coach can bulk him up, because right now he looks to thin to even play OLB!!
-
I think the new regime puts Wood at C. Draft a LT. Hang has played G. Keep Incognito as backup.
My best scenario is drafting a top LT in first round. There has to be a stud at #9 right? Levitre at left guard-had a very strong year for a rookie. Move Wood to center-if healthy, he will be a beast. Than have Hangartner, Incognito and Simmons compete for RG position. Bring in a free agent at RT and have him compete with Butler for starting position. The loser is the 3rd swing tackle. With this lineup you have strength across the board with solid backups. We HAVE to bring in TWO new OT's. That needs to be a VERY high priority. Scott, Chambers, Ramsay, Bell are just garbage. Meredith looked good in run blocking but really needs to turn it up in pass blocking.. Maybe camp fodder.
-
Fewell interview is nothing more than getting the Rooney Rule out of the way
Exactly. Fewell is as conservative as Jauron. We need to get rid of EVERYONE from this current regime except for Bobby April. It is as simple as that. Fewell is not head coaching material. Does anyone really think we would have made the playoffs or even 9 games with him as head coach the entire season? I don't think so!!! Cowher would be awesome, and Billick would be a close second. He is a winner, and has great presence and respect on the sideline and in the locker room. This is when the excitement starts people. Hold onto your seats!!!
-
Leach is known for making injured players "practice" when the team does. If a guy has a bum leg, he makes them do pushups on the sideline while the team practices. So it's not a ridiculous comparison. That's what this is all about. That sort of thing is fine. Pushups on the sidelines is one thing. Locking a kid in a storage closet during practice is just silly. At least pushups have some value. But locking the kid in a closet where he can't observe the practice, can't learn, can't do anything is just asking to be fired.
That's not being tough. That's being stupid. And that won't work in the NFL.
I agree. Leach is an idiot to even put himself in this position. If I were Craig James and if what his kid says really happened, I would take Mike Leach in a closet and beat the crap out of him. If he doesn't believe that the player is hurt, suspend him for a game, but putting him in a closet and making him just stand there is just about the dumbest thing I ever heard.
-
Why does everyone seem to think that this team needed immediate production out of Maybin? Even if he played great for a rookie, it still wouldn't have really mattered. There was nothing wrong with drafting a project.
that is the stupidest thing I have ever read on this board. Anytime you draft someone with the 11th pick not having made the playoffs in nine seasons, you had better get some production. He did not have to be Bruce Smith, but he wasn't even close to Erik Flowers. The guy looks like a senior in high school. I was at the Falcons game yesterday. He got a lot of playing time and did absolutely nothing. I don't think he would even start at the college level right now if he played in the SEC. He has absolutely no strength whatsoever to rush the passer, and his instincts are about as good as Donte Whitner's. Unless you are being sarcastic, think a bit before posting, please.

For me, this was the worst game to watch this season. It was actually the only game that we werent in for the first 3 quarters at least, which is surprising. WHen the offense needed to convert a 3rd down, they didnt. The defense had chances to stop the falcons on several fourth downs and they didnt. It is kind of what i expected from this defense after all these inuries. Couldn't stop the run or pass. You have to cut them some slack though, as mckelvin, mcgee, mitchell, ellison, and byrd are all out, and a few of those players are vital to our success on D. As for our offense, same old same old. The o-line is the worst in the league by far. Jackson and lynch have no where to run most of the time, and brohm usually had to rush his throws. I thought brohm played decent for his first game, considering he is just starting to learn the system. It will be interesting to see what this kid can do. I liked some of the throws that he made, and he seems decisive with the football. I also thought he did well against the pressure most of the time, as he got rid of the ball quickly to his receivers. We should just forget about this yeaer. It has been horrible. In the offseason, we must build a good o-line. With a good o-line, we can be a dominatn team running the ball and whoever our QB may be, we can have a stable passing attack. And wtf is this nonsense. SCHOBEL RETIRING!? 10 SACKS ON THE SEASON. HE IS NOT SLOWING DOWN. we need schobel. Anyway, we'll see wha happens in the future, and thank god there is only one more game left. LETS RUIN THE PERFECT SEASON FOR THE COLTS! Keep in there bills fans. GO BILLS!
Went to the game today. WORST game of the season. All right equal to the Dolphins game at Miami. Offense stunk. O line was horrible. Game plan was even worse. Should not have Brohm play if you are not going to run routes down the field. Team looked like they did not care. Worst coaching staff in the league right now. EVERY PLAY was run out of the same two sets. Pathetic. The offense looked like they really did NOT CARE. We will get killed by the Colts. Who will cover Reggie Wayne, Collie, Garcon and Clark? Very embarrasing to be at the game today. Whitner will not be back.. How we took him at number 8, UGH!! The guy has no speed and NO INSTINCTS. He is not an NFL starter whatsoever. Oh, we have no linebackers either. And our D tackles got run over repeatedly.
-
Keep him. He hasn't had a particularly good year, but he's only 23, has no serious injury history and has been pretty productive in previous years. If you trade him, you'll just have to draft someone else fairly high in order to replace him and probably won't receive much net value at all when all is said and done.
No reason to draft a running back high up. We need to draft O and D lineman and linebackers my friend. With a good O line we can find a bunch of street free agents to get the job done at RB. Look at Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas. Neither of them was a high round draft pick, and they have run real well for the Saints. Marshawn is doing nothing for us, but than again neither is anyone else on offense except for Freddy. I would get rid of everyone on offense except for Fred if their are takers, even Lee. The O is THAT BAD!!

Can't stand baseball and basketball
I do love my son's middle school football team. Walton Jr. Raiders from East Cobb, Georgia. Won the N. Ga. Championship this past year at 12-0, and noone came within 2 touchdowns of them in a 31 team league. And I don't expect them to lose in his next two seasons. Nice to watch a well coached winning team at least once a weekend!!
