  1. Of course we all want to see Bill Cowher as our headcoach, but lets face it, he is NOT coming here. I think we all can agree on that. The team is a mess from top to bottom. Bill doesn't want to deal with that. So it will be up to a lesserknown guy to come in and make his mark. We have put ourselves in this position because of a decade of just horrible season after horrible season with terrible personel decisions. We can only hope that the guy we bring in as THAT GUY!! But regardless of who is our coach, we need to start bringing in some solid winning potential star type players. Most won't be stars, but we have to build a team of very good players. We have not had that since the 90's. It will be a very difficult but not impossible task. We can only hope that our next coach seriously has a plan to make this an NFL team. And I would think to do that at least 40% of the team has to turn over. I will support any Bills head coach until he proves me wrong. Everyone of us owes him at least that much.
  2. My god our tackles were just AWFUL this year. Unless Suh falls to #9 (which he definitely won't), we have to take any LT stud that can step in and start immediately. We can get a right tackle in free agency, and take Lafever in the 2nd round if he is still there. We have so many holes to fill-DE,DT, LB's that we have to go heavy in free agency to make the draft as productive as possible. But my god, our OT's were as bad a group as I have EVER seen in the NFL.. And Bell is just horrible. He should not be on an NFL roster!!
  3. Your theory sounds fine and good, but actually states one of his biggest problems, and that problem includes many of our other defenders as well. When Donte Whitner plays near the line of scrimmage, he is eventually going to get injured because he is just TOO SMALL. I would give him at most 3 games before he gets injured again playing near the LOS. And that goes for many on our TINY defense. Undersized guys playing out of position. They all get hurt. Whitner is a marginal backup in the NFL game because he is too small to play near the LOS consistently without getting hurt, and he is definitely not quick enough nor has the instincts to play a good FS or nickel cornerback. How our front office did not see that is unbelievable.
  4. Look at his size or lack there of. He is a taller version of Bryan Scott at best. It is absolutely ridiculous that someone thought this guy could play D line in the NFL. Didn't they look at his body before drafting him? He makes Schobel look like a big thick guy!! It is comical watching him try and rush the passer. He looks like a high school player. Lets hope a new strength and conditioning coach can bulk him up, because right now he looks to thin to even play OLB!!
  5. My best scenario is drafting a top LT in first round. There has to be a stud at #9 right? Levitre at left guard-had a very strong year for a rookie. Move Wood to center-if healthy, he will be a beast. Than have Hangartner, Incognito and Simmons compete for RG position. Bring in a free agent at RT and have him compete with Butler for starting position. The loser is the 3rd swing tackle. With this lineup you have strength across the board with solid backups. We HAVE to bring in TWO new OT's. That needs to be a VERY high priority. Scott, Chambers, Ramsay, Bell are just garbage. Meredith looked good in run blocking but really needs to turn it up in pass blocking.. Maybe camp fodder.
  6. Exactly. Fewell is as conservative as Jauron. We need to get rid of EVERYONE from this current regime except for Bobby April. It is as simple as that. Fewell is not head coaching material. Does anyone really think we would have made the playoffs or even 9 games with him as head coach the entire season? I don't think so!!! Cowher would be awesome, and Billick would be a close second. He is a winner, and has great presence and respect on the sideline and in the locker room. This is when the excitement starts people. Hold onto your seats!!!
  7. I agree. Leach is an idiot to even put himself in this position. If I were Craig James and if what his kid says really happened, I would take Mike Leach in a closet and beat the crap out of him. If he doesn't believe that the player is hurt, suspend him for a game, but putting him in a closet and making him just stand there is just about the dumbest thing I ever heard.
  8. that is the stupidest thing I have ever read on this board. Anytime you draft someone with the 11th pick not having made the playoffs in nine seasons, you had better get some production. He did not have to be Bruce Smith, but he wasn't even close to Erik Flowers. The guy looks like a senior in high school. I was at the Falcons game yesterday. He got a lot of playing time and did absolutely nothing. I don't think he would even start at the college level right now if he played in the SEC. He has absolutely no strength whatsoever to rush the passer, and his instincts are about as good as Donte Whitner's. Unless you are being sarcastic, think a bit before posting, please.
  9. Went to the game today. WORST game of the season. All right equal to the Dolphins game at Miami. Offense stunk. O line was horrible. Game plan was even worse. Should not have Brohm play if you are not going to run routes down the field. Team looked like they did not care. Worst coaching staff in the league right now. EVERY PLAY was run out of the same two sets. Pathetic. The offense looked like they really did NOT CARE. We will get killed by the Colts. Who will cover Reggie Wayne, Collie, Garcon and Clark? Very embarrasing to be at the game today. Whitner will not be back.. How we took him at number 8, UGH!! The guy has no speed and NO INSTINCTS. He is not an NFL starter whatsoever. Oh, we have no linebackers either. And our D tackles got run over repeatedly.
  10. No reason to draft a running back high up. We need to draft O and D lineman and linebackers my friend. With a good O line we can find a bunch of street free agents to get the job done at RB. Look at Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas. Neither of them was a high round draft pick, and they have run real well for the Saints. Marshawn is doing nothing for us, but than again neither is anyone else on offense except for Freddy. I would get rid of everyone on offense except for Fred if their are takers, even Lee. The O is THAT BAD!!
  11. I agree. I rewound the play several times and found no holding on Hangman. That was about Fitzie's only well thrown ball all day. And of course on the next play 3rd and 20, we dumped off to Marshawn who ended up 9 yards short of the first down.
  12. I agree that we need to draft a stud at LT in the first round, Levitre, Wood, Simmons and Butler if he is healthy. But I would sign a big Mauler in Free Agency to play RT and compete with Butler for the starting position. As for Bell/Meredith/Scott/Chambers, they ALL suck in pass protection. I don't want any of them on next years roster. Ideally, I would keep Butler as the backup swing tackle, (if he doesn't play much he probably won't get injured again). And than keep McKinney and Hangartner as your backup interior lineman. They are decent backups, but not really every game starters. But Bell, Meredith, Scott and probably Chambers really have no business playing in the NFL. So the key is to get Wood healthy and bring in a pair of bookend tackles who can actually pass block. Lets get it done!!
  13. I have been a fan since my family moved to Buffalo when I was 10 in 1976. I have not lived in Buffalo in many years. However, I have not missed a game since my honeymoon in 1994 either watching in sports bars or on my dish. I have raised three kids to be huge Bills fans. My wife is from Dallas, and became a big Bills fan as well. Part of the deterioration of my marriage had probably a lot to do with the misery I have felt over all the losses and horrible performances this decade. (A fight usually ensued a bad loss at some point on a Sunday nite.) However, I have always believed that we would turn it around at some point. But this year the team has just been abysmal to the point of almost being unwatchable. The second half of the Saints game, Dolphins game, Browns game, even the wins against the Jets and Panthers, and the Texans game, and today's second half. Just disgusting football. Has anyone seen worse starting quarterbacking week in and week out than we have gotten? How about a worse O line man for man than ours currently in the NFL? What about our front seven? Is their a less physical group in the league? Think about it, we probably have as bad a quarterbacking situation, O line and front seven in the NFL all on the same team. Is that combination possible? It really is remarkable how badly put together this team is. I am as big a fan of the team as anyone on this board, and the situation makes me sick. However, I am over the losses in much quicker fashion than ever before, because they are pretty much expected. We all can only hope that there is a major housecleaning from TOP to BOTTOM after the season ends. We need to turn over close to half the roster if that is possible. I wore a Bills jersey EVERY Sunday from 1996 until this season. The last few games I have not worn anything that says Bills. They just don't deserve me wearing anything at this point. And that is really sad for me.
  14. What about Nick Harris? Why isn't he playing at OLB? Isn't he a lot bigger than Bryan Scott? I think he is the only guy we have on defense who might have the athleticsm to control Vince Young. Why did we draft him if we had no intention of playing him? As for Maybin, he is by far the smallest D lineman in the league. It is an absolute joke that we drafted him with the 11th pick in the draft. Seriously, has he made a play this year?
  15. Maybin looks like a high school football player next to NFL offensive lineman. Does anyone really think he is going to do much for us even next year? He doesn't have the build to play defensive line in the NFL. My god, I don't think he could even start on Penn State this year. Unbelievable that he held out thru half of training camp. To draft a long range pick for a team that had so many holes to fill is sickening. A lot of you wanted Orapko. But I think the better choice would have been Cushing. He makes Poz and every other LB we have look like marginal college players. We could have used Copeland Bryan and Chris Ellis as our 4th and 5th DE's and drafted Cushing, and our D would have been much better at two positions. Now we have no OLB's and our 1st round pick looks like he eats one meal a day. Is there a law against playing 280 pound defensive ends? Maybe if we had some bulk across the ENTIRE line, we wouldn't be giving up the most yards per game against the run in the NFL. Unbelievable how poor we are at so many facets of the game. Doesn't it amaze many of you as to how bad our team plays the game on offense and defense? If not for our special teams the past 4-5 years, we would not have won more than 4-5 games in any of those seasons.
  16. I root for anyone who I think is a good player and wears a Bills jersey, loser!!! The guy went to prison and served his time. He also can be one of the most dynamic players in the NFL, still!!! Keep your social opinions to your coffee shop discussions and root for anybody that can possibly turn this mess AROUND.
  17. Lets pray Rico that Vic's predictions come true. There are so many players on this team who are just marginal at best pro football players. Unless this team makes a dramatic turnaround, DJ is GONE!! How many games are we going to win the rest of the year with a team that is only strong in the secondary, punter and kicker? Look at our roster from top to bottom. Other than special teams and secondary, there is not a lot of stud football players. I don't mean superstars, I mean solid NFL starting players. At least we can get excited about the offseason. Until than, at least my son's sixth grade team is 10-0 and in the semifinals of a very competitive North Georgia Football league. You talk about a team with good players and excellent coaching, the sixth grade Walton Jr. Raiders ROCK!! Sorry for the digression.
  18. Buffalo Bill-I think you summed up everyone's view of the team and the season. A big waste. I completely agree that a whole bunch of guys from this years team will not be back with a new regime. Once they look at the film on a lot of these guys, they will be gone. I love our secondary, but that is about where it ends as far as good units on the team. Wouldn't a complete overhaul of at least half the players be AWESOME? I could see us getting rid of ALL our linebackers except Nick Harris. We can only pray.
  19. Dude, How could it possibly get any worse? Given the weapons that we have-not great, but good. There is absolutely no excuse for how out of sync and ineffective these guys play together. Sure our QB play is marginal, and our O line is very weak especially at tackle, but there is absolutely NO creativity. They are supposed to be professionals. And AVP calls just a brutal game. Three straight runs down by a touchdown in the third qtr. Do you think the players even pay attention to him? This is such a rag tag coaching staff it is just pathetic. I am very dissappointed in AVP's play calling. Here is his chance to make a name for himself-use some innovation. Any schmoe could come up with his gameplans. My son's sixth grade middle school team has more complex plays.
  20. This whole argument is stupid because we have lousy QB play, AND poor O line play most of the time. Our OT's are the worst pass blocking pair of tackles in the league bar none. That being said, I agree that a good QB will make up for bad O line play most of the time. Trent has decent time on a lot of plays and is afraid to throw down the field. Simple as that. He doesn't have the stones to be an NFL starter. We can be a very good team with a good QB and a mediocre O line. We can not be a very good team with a good O line and a mediocre to poor QB.
  21. He very well may be that bad. You realize how bad we are when you watch other teams such as the Falcons and Saints move the ball up and down the field all game long. Even Denver with Kyle Orton on the field has a purpose as to what they are trying to do on each and every play and series. Sure we have a very poor offensive line, but a good coaching staff would still game plan to protect our weaknesses and run a competent scheme. We have lots of playmakers who are tremendously underutilized on a weekly basis. And notice that in any close game that we are winning late, Dick goes ultra conservative to make it as difficult as possible to put the game away. Our offense has no clue about playing with any sense of urgency. And I don't think AVP could even gameplan for a high school offense at this point. I think TE could be SERIOUSLY injured against the Titans. We will probably make their defense look dominant. Worst of all, I don't think the players even care anymore, especially on offense. I believe they are all just waiting for DJ to get the ax. They are given no direction and they know it. They are not stupid.
  22. I think Poz sucks. I said it previously and I will continue to say so now. Poz rarely dominates a collision when he is making a tackle. He always kind of holds on, and kind of rides the man to the ground 2-3 yards up the field. The Texans had absolutely gaping holes to run thru up the middle in the second half. That is inexcusable. Poz has a lot of responsibility for that. That is his territory. He does not dominate or impose his will. His game is WEAK!! We can and have to do better at MLB. Poz would be a decent backup where maybe he could learn how to become a good player. Our linebackers have to be amongst the worst if not the absolute worst group of LB's in the league. LB is a super important position on your defense. They provide a strong sense of toughness. We do NOT have that at all. It makes our team weak. The talent level on this team is just terrible at certain positions-LB, OT, QB, TE and not great at most other positions. Combine that with terrible, uninspiring coaching and leadership, and you have a god awful, boring, crappy team which is painful to watch.
  23. Kasper, I totally agree. The game was a total disaster. At times we look like the absolute worst team in the league. Take away what Jarius Byrd has done the past few weeks and this team is 1-7. I have been watching football religously for almost 35 years and have not missed one Bills game since 1994. I consider myself as knowledgeable as anyone about the game. And I can say that this team especially the offense is just God AWFUL. We have scored 66 points in the past 6 games. Take away the fake field goal against the Saints, the garbage time touchdown against Miami, the seven yard drive against the Panthers, and you have 45 points in the past 6 games. That is just unheard of. We have had a lot of bad OC's in the past decade, but can anyone say that AVP is not the worst? Down 24-10, we run three straight times. What happened to passing DOWN the field? To lose to the Texans by three TD's at home. This team is HORRIBLE. We have regressed unconscionably under Jauron. His first year in 2006 with JP, at least there was hope. After the performance today coupled with the Cleveland game, DJ should be fired IMMEDIATELY. No questions asked. The stench around this team is unbearable.
  24. Bill, I usually value what you have to say. But to say that Poz played well is just nonsense. He is ALWAYS out of position, or getting run over by an O lineman. The guy is not good. He is stiff, slow and not athletic. He should not be starting in the NFL. Nic Harris will be a better player than Poz by next season.
  25. That is an interesting article. I watched the 30 minute replay of Sunday's game last nite on Direct TV. (an unbelievable concept-well worth the money to replay any game) I tried to focus on what Poz was doing on each play. The guy is OK. He doesn't suck, but he definitely does not dominate the game. From what I could see, he has good instincts on where the play is going, but he is not big and powerful, and he is definitely not overly fast. (kind of reminds me of John Holocek, but with less power and a little more quickness-nowhere near as good a player as Shane Conlan was in his prime though) When he was able to avoid big O lineman leading the play he is effective. But he is nowhere near powerful enough to take on charging O lineman. He was knocked flying on several plays by Carolina lineman. He is what he is-a decent player who I don't think is someone who will ever be a star player. Given his injury history, I am not sure we would want to give him a lucrative extension in the future.
