  1. We signed Charles Clay in 2015 to a big contract coming off of several very good years with the Fish. He was a huge disappointment for us. Played with the enthusiasm of a corpse. Give Sweeney a chance. He can make plays. The decision making on who played and who was inactive on Sundays last season on offense was dubious at best. Yeldon Sweeney and Duke should have been playing ahead of Gore Smith and Foster the entire second half of the year.
  2. If they can take it up a few notches, all of them individually (especially Ford) and as a unit, we will be very solid on the O line. But that remains to be seen. I like the way the kid Moss runs. He looks explosive. A nice compliment to Singletary and a fun guy to watch. As for Epenesa, Iowa football players are well coached. They play hard and have grit. He has nice size. D Line is looking very strong right now. Beane is good, very cagey and very good.
  3. Fair response Playoffs. I just keep thinking back to the playoff game, and it just looked like Brown and Beasley along w Duke were blanketed. But Beasley is super shifty in the slot a lot of the time. And Brown had a good year. Josh sure did hold the ball for a long time on a lot of his dropbacks. Maybe thats on him for being afraid to pull the trigger. And maybe its on the receivers not getting open. Hard to tell from watching on TV. And I agree with what we are missing in the receiving corp. Its time to draft that bigger WR- Edwards Pittman or Claypool.
  4. Everything I say is the truth Gospel. Now you go home to mommy's basement and go watch the second round of the draft. The 3rd round will probably be on past your bedtime. But I am sure the good people on this board will fill you in tomorrow.
  5. So true Ktulu. He can walk after this year if he keeps playing soft like the marshmellow man. You pay big money to great players. Is Laremy Tunsil even any good? We seem to have gotten a lot of pressure from the outside on Deshawn Watson in last years playoff game. BOB runs that team like he is playing Monopoly. Does Tunsil still smoke weed out of the gas mask? I guess BOB is Ok with his choice of paraphanelia.
  6. The Chiefs used Tyreek Hill, Sammy, Mecole Hardman and Marcus Robinson. Plus they have Travis Kelce who is one of the 2 or 3 best TE's in the league. (And he plays like a big WR) In addition guys get hurt all the time, even WR. So you had better have some depth guys who can play. I did not say we would be playing 4 receiver sets ALL THE TIME. I just want another stud receiver in the pipeline to compete w Beasley and Brown. Come on man that should be obvious. I think we can do better then Duke Williams (although he can be in the mix if he develops his game more) McKenzie and Foster. Its a passing league now, and I am old school. But look at all the guys drafted last nite. WR's and DB's. The LB Isaiah Simmons looks like a basketball player. The LB's don't look London Fletcher or Chris Spielman anymore. I was watching the draft with a bunch of college aged guys. We were discussing how the NFL has changed since the 70's, 80's and 90's. They asked if I liked it. I said it is exciting. But I miss the violence that used to be the NFL. But my point is that you need a lot of good players who can catch the football and then run with it in today's game. It is not ground and pound until the last few minutes when you are winning.
  7. We have a ton of O lineman. And most of them are at least decent. Do you want 20 O Lineman in training camp? What is the point of signing guys like Spain Long Boehm and Williams if we are drafting another one in the 2nd or 3rd round? The only O lineman that is old is Nseke. The rest are all young or in the prime of their careers. D line we can get younger. But I do not think the talent level of the guys falling into the 2nd round at DE, (except Uche) are nearly as dynamic as the RB's or WR's that will be available. Epenesa Weaver Lewis are ok. I would take Uche if available. He has talent and a big upside. My son plays DE in college and knows the position real well. He doesn't like any of the other guys in the 2nd round. Especially Lewis who he says is skinny. And according to him Epenesa is not athletic enuf to play edge in the NFL. Corners are a dime a dozen. McDermott can take an undrafted guy and make him a solid player. We have 3 guys more then capable of competing for the starting CB 2 position. Heck I think McDermott and staff could make Lafayette Pitts into a fringe starter at CB given the scheme we run. Drafting a stud RB will not make him a backup. He can compete with Singletary for carries. That makes everyone better bro. As for WR Brown and Beasley are decent. But neither gets a lot of separation. And their are plenty of WR's that are coming out that have more upside. And you definitely need a 4th very good WR on your team in today's NFL. That is one fan's opinion. Take it as you will.
  8. Agree 100. Brown and Beasley are nice complimentary receivers. But they were blanketed in many games. Diggs will open things up. But we so need more offense. Tyler Johnson from Minnesota is excellent. Him Mims Claypool Chenault Edwards Swift Taylor Dobbins all would be a big help to the offense. The O line will be good enuf. We can draft a big time O lineman next year in the 1st round. If we really want a big time DE, make a play to sign Clowney after the draft. We have the cap space. A top offensive skill position player gives the team the most value in the 2nd round relative to our needs right now. We don't need a CB 2, DE or OL as much as another gamechanger on offense.
  9. I would be very happy taking Tyler Johnson or Bryan Edwards with our first pick. I would trade up for Johnson. Had a huge year at Minnesota. And is obviously used to playing the cold. If we do not take a WR in the 2nd round, and if Donavan Peoples Jones is there in the 3rd, we need to be all over him. Is underrated and has as much up side as any player coming out this year. Heck I would be happy taking him in the second round. But we could probably trade back a bit, get a little extra candy for later on and still get my boy DPJ.
  10. Saban loved John Parker Wilson, Greg McElroy, AJ McCarron and Jalen Hurts as well. If he doesn't really like you, you are not seeing the field at Bama. What makes everyone think that Tua is a generational talent? Maybe its his name. Has a cool Samoan ring to it. Why is noone talking up Joe Burrow on here? He had an amazing season. Its all Tua Tua Tua. Belichick may actually like Jared Stidham and give him the keys this year. Do you think Tua has more potential then Jared Goff or Carson Wentz? I would like to hear some response to that? Curious....
  11. Very good explanation. You must be a special teams coach at some level of football. That being said. That so called skill does not warrant a roster spot in my estimation for a guy that brings virtually nothing to the offense.
  12. I was very frustrated last season when Sweeney Duke Williams and Yeldon were inactive almost every week, and the offense was plodding along with the likes of Lee Smith Patrick Dimarco and Robert Foster all playing (yes he is fast, but he caught THREE balls last year!).
  13. I am not saying Yeldon has to be a fixture as the #2 RB. I think he should be in the mix for touches. He does have good hands. Made some nice catches I believe in the preseason game at Detroit last year. He is too talented to be inactive if not injured. But I still feel we need to draft a big time RB to add to the mix. RB's get nicked up all the time. You need 3 talented guys to carry the rock over a season. Yeldon can be number 3. But he should still dress and be part of the game plan every week. Dimarco gives us nothing even on Special teams. That is an urban legend that he makes plays on special teams. He is too slow and has no explosiveness. He is expendable. That is fine Freester. Do you think we move up in the 2nd round if we have a chance at Dobbins or Taylor? As I just told Gunner. You need 3 solid RB's in the NFL to get thru a season.
  14. Solid rosters don't win Super Bowls unless your QB plays at a very high level. Hopefully Josh starts approaching that place. Agree that some of our young talent needs to take the step. I see high ceilings for Edmunds and Oliver. Singletary is a solid player, but do you think he has the potential to have monster 1,400 plus seasons? I don't really see that. Thus the need for a high powered RB drafted early. Knox could be special. But needs to work on catching the ball. And he needs to be incorporated into the game plan more w downfield passes. (I would try and trade for OJ Howard w a late round pick) Also don't sleep on Tommy Sweeney. I think he has great upside. And Yeldon is a solid NFL player. Guy has a lot of tread left on the tires and needs to be given a chance to show what he can do. Dimarco has no business being on an NFL roster at this point period. Brings nothing.
  15. That's a gangbusters move!! Two players who have definitely not lived up to their potential. But both great athletes, who have high ceilings. I think they upgrade the offense a good amount where all you need is one WR and an edge rusher with our first two picks. And use the last 3 to hit on a couple undervalued talents at the best position available.. (all you guys who think we need to draft another corner high. we could draft three in the last two rounds just to make you all happy)
  16. The Patriot way. Exactly what they did w Garrapalo. Ironically they don't have much at the moment at QB. Although Stidham may surprise. He has some potential. I watched most of his games at Auburn. (My ex girlfriend was a huge fan of the Tigers because her daughter went there) The boy can wing it. But he leaves the pocket quickly and has the tendency to drop back to his right a lot when the rush starts coming and ends up throwing wildly, being sacked or throwing the ball away. See game at Clemson three years ago. (Exactly what Baker Mayfield does when rushed) And they have Cody Kessler and Bryan Hoyer. Wow, Hoyer sucks. I remember a game against the Browns at the Ralph several years back (maybe the one where Kyle or Jerry got a defensive TD) and he was just brutal. How does he have a job in the league at this point? Kessler is the perfect example of the guy who is a very good college QB, but just can't do a whole lot in the pros. AJ McCarron is another one of those guys.
  17. You seriously think we are going to draft a Hurts, Fromm or Eason, have them play in the preseason and THEN eventually trade them for 1st round picks? You are joking right?? If we take one of those 3, we are taking them as a fall back if Josh Allen falls flat on his face bigtime this year, which aint going to happen. We still need offensive playmakers. I get so frustrated reading some of you posters as well as the local media who seem to think our roster is set to contend for a Super Bowl right now, and all we need is some depth players for the future. (And with that line of thinking lets draft 5 or 6 defensive guys) We were what about 24th in the NFL last year in scoring. And 26th in passing yards. I would be ecstatic to draft TWO WR's and at least one if not two RB's. And maybe a TE instead of the 2nd RB. Our offense was not good. And all we have done so far is add one big time WR. And a couple of O lineman in Williams and Boehm who may not make the team We need more offense. So when you start talking about drafting QB's relatively high just to flip them down the road, that makes no sense to the goal of winning in the here and now!!
  18. Please let Dion Dawkins play well for an entire season before we pay him dime one!! I would pay Micah Hyde before Dawkins based on past performance and what they will do over the next 3-4 years, UNLESS DD plays lights out this year. (And Hyde will cost a whole lot less and is a great leader on the team) And if Dawkins continues to play as an average left tackle at best, I would let him walk after this season and either sign a good LT in free agency, trade for one, or draft one in the 1st round next year!!
  19. It doesn't matter who they draft because their O line is awful. They have brought in scrubs for years. I remember when they had Richmond Webb and Dwight Stephenson. They were men who were tough to play against. Tua should be exciting. But as I have said numerous times. Many Bama players are overrated going to the pros. They have a GREAT PROGRAM. When these guys play together they usually dominate at the college level. (And they are treated like royalty, like at most SEC schools) Although they usually play a very soft non conference schedule. (most of the SEC does-and lets see what you huge SEC fans have to say about that) As individuals at the pro level a lot of them do not distinguish and are just a bunch of guys, or worse. (See Cyrus Kuonjio Reggie Ragland Regan Upshaw Trent Richardson Cheeseburger Lacey, Foster the LB from SF and Wash, etc) I am a Bama fan. (they are my favorite Southern team- but I bleed Maize and Blue) But I am not sure Tua would have dominated playing in the cold North with a mediocre O line. Just saying guys. Something to think about. I just hate getting all on anyone's hype train, until they show what they can do against the best game in and game out.
  20. McDermott needs to be concerned about putting an offense on the field this year that is good and can score points thru 4 qtrs of every game. All the rest is immaterial. I bet a lot of the players barely know who the Pegulas even are. I liked Ralph better because he cared about football. It was his life and his passion. The Pegulas have done a great job giving the Bills the money to spend and be competitive. But as far as being old blood NFL football owners, Nah. Guy seems like an uncool nerd to me. Has no presence. When I think of the leader of the team, I think of Brandon Beane, not Terry or Kim Pegula.
  21. Right there with you about loving Michigan and hating Ohio State. Class of 87 bro. But I agree on Dobbins. He is excellent. We need him or Taylor in the 2nd round. Then trade back up for Uche and also DPJ. He has a very high ceiling, and his best football is ahead of him. (watch the TD catch against Indiana last year. Amazing) Big 10 does not get enuf respect. But they play hard nose tough football. Getting RB, WR and Edge from up North would be a tremendous haul.. We win the draft if we get Taylor or Dobbins, DPJ and Uche. Bring in a kicker late if we have that 7th. Otherwise as an UFA, and we are golden for 2020. And yes Winfield was excellent. And Clements was very good also. Big mistake letting Winfield at Pat Williams go in free agency years ago!
  22. Finally someone who thinks that we need more offensive talent. McDermott has done a good job turning around the team. But he seems a little tone deaf and dim when it comes to where the NFL is and is heading in the next few years. How does another Safety or Corner make us a better contender for the Super Bowl in the next two years? We have more then enuf talent in the secondary to compete for a Super Bowl. We NEED offensive weapons. Jonathan Taylor is an amazing RB. Go watch his film while at Wisconsin. Why do we even need Dugger when we have Taron Johnson and a whole bunch of other guys? Our roster is not THAT good, especially on offense where we should not get the best WR or RB available with our first pick wherever that may be!!
  23. My son plays DE at Georgia Southern. Has two more years of eligibility after a bad knee injury last season in the LSU game. He has rehabbed very well after surgery. And will be good to go for this season. (one thing I have learned is who does your surgery makes ALL the difference in the world. I know many orthos in the Atlanta area, and I got him with one who was much better then the team Ortho) Hopefully he balls out for two years and can be at least a mid round draft pick. I apologize for the digression. My point is that my son staying w me while school is shut down took a wonderlic on Saturday for the heck of it. He got a 45. Don't know how long it took him. But he said it was easy as can be. He is smart but not a genius. (Had not much idea how to do his accounting work on line last nite) Makes me wonder how anyone can get a 13. That is poor. If Burrow got a 34 and Stanley got a 40, wth is Tua doing? Just something to think about.
  24. Do you guys not watch the Big 10? Jonathan Taylor and JK Dobbins had close to 4000 yards between them. Singletary is a nice player. But he is not a big time stud. Get me a big time RB w our first pick and watch the offense improve dramatically. What other needs are more important then another RB? And what about another WR? Donavan Peoples Jones has tremendous upside. Put him in the mix with Brown Beasley and Diggs, and Wow!! We still need playmakers on offense. Defense is fine. But taking a guy like Dugger. How does that improve the team? Or an edge rusher who is not ready to contribute this year. Makes no sense. We need about 3 more pieces on offense. RB, WR, and another TE or ROT, and the team will be ready to compete for a Super Bowl as long as Josh Allen plays like he is supposed to. But a "Big Nickel from a D2 school is not going to change our chances of winning the Super Bowl in today's NFL. Beane and McDermott better know that.
