  1. Doesn't look ready? Its not rocket science. See ball carrier, run towards him and knock him down. In pass coverage cover backs flaring out of the backfield, or TE's in the middle of the field. Occasionally rush the passer. It really should not be as hard as McDermott wants to make it playing defense. Williams is an excellent athlete. Play to his strengths.
  2. He will be decent in obscurity for a couple years, and then retire. Legend in his own mind like most of these guys who aren't happy with their contracts. The Falcons are about as irrelevant a team right now that the NFL has to offer. And they are pretty much that in Atlanta as well.
  3. You guys on here are just miserable. Is this how you enjoy getting ready for the NFL season? This WR group will be fine. Shakir and Samuel are grease lightning. Coleman Hollins and Kincaid will all have roles. And we may keep Shavers and Hamler who is also very fast. Knox will be a solid red zone target and Morris will make plays as well. I am just pumped for another year of NFL and college football. And hopefully Josh will take us over the top and we get better as the season moves along. Last Saturday was ugly. But most of those guys (Gunner Britton, et al) will be gone soon enough. Watch and/or listen to Colin Cowherd and enjoy football. It's one of the best things life has to offer.. And best of all we have Josh Allen. He is historically great. Enjoy every snap he takes..
  4. Dude you lose all credibility saying that after his performance last year for Pittsburgh. And his performance on Saturday against the Bears. He has trouble completing any pass more the 8 yards down the field. Remember Frank Reich. That was a good back up. Granted there are not many good ones out there. But we need to find someone who can light it up some of the time.
  5. RG3 suffered a bad knee injury when crunched by Haloti Ngata. That was a big part of his demise.
  6. Kyle Allen had more upside than Mitch Trubisky. (Who has none) Guys accuracy is brutal. As for Buechele, not sure how he even played at SMU which has a really good offensive team. Guy was just afraid to throw the ball. Guys get too afraid to make mistakes. And just hold the ball. Let it rip. That’s why you play QB. Our roster construction at times is curious. Not sure why we have Gilliam. Didn’t bring in competition for Bass. Martin is certainly a question mark. But you do get a sense of calmness and resolve from McDermott after games like Saturday’s where things looked awful in the 2nd half. (Same as after the Eagles game last year) That he will get things fixed before the season starts. And I think that is one of his best qualities as a head coach. Keeping things stable focused and calm.
  7. Good take on the game. The second half was an awful performance. Did our 3rd string guys even play college football? The drop off was shocking and very disappointing to watch. Jonathan had two penalties and no burst. He has a low ceiling and is easily blocked. I see no reason for him to even make the practice squad. Jones Von and Milano did not play. And Oliver went out after one play. The strength of the defense is our LB's. Bernard Milano and Williams are all playmakers. Douglas Benford Elam and Johnson are strong at corner. The problem is the pass rush. There was none yesterday. And hopefully they find some. I think the offense will be dynamic. Samuel and Shakir will be excellent. And hopefully they get Coleman a package that he excells at and gets better as the season goes along. Did Kincaid play yesterday? I hope we are throwing to him up the field more this year. The O line could be a concern. Is Van Road Grader ready to start? He was the SEC lineman of the year in 2023. Not sure why he was a 5th round pick. Why do the Bills think David Edwards is starting material? He has never been a real good player. Hopefully things get better over the next few weeks. Josh will be fine. And so will our weapons. The issue is the big uglies on both lines. Need some guys to step up and at least be good. Don't have to be great. But if you want to be a super bowl contender, your starters all need to be good. And a lot of guys on both lines (especially on the D line for awhile) have not been good.
  8. He is a terrible passer of the football. He is a poor man’s David Carr. Remember him. He has mobility, but has no feel for putting the football in catchable places. The throw to Morris in the end zone was dreadful. And the two to Coleman were way too high as well. For a guy who has been in the league for 8 years, he is just bad. He was lousy for the Steelers last year. And he was no better today for us today. Some guys can play QB reasonably well as a backup like say Josh Dobbs or Cooper Rush. Trubisky is not that. We should have just kept Kyle Allen.
  9. That’s a terrible take. Morse was a very good center for his 5 years w the Bills. Was he all pro at the Dermonti Dawson level? No. But he was the best center the Bills have had since Kent Hull. He was tough rugged, a leader and could move. The interior O line today was garbage. They had better get a whole lot better in a hurry. The second half was an embarrassment today. The bottom 25-30 guys on the roster absolutely stink. I would cut them all tomorrow and bring in some other guys. Our backup QB’s are the worst in the NFL. Sure the game doesn’t matter. But when you put on the Bills jersey, you had better play with a whole lot more passion then what we saw today. Why is Shane Buechele in camp? The guy is afraid to throw the ball. The best and only play by any back end of the roster player was the hit by Williamson on the sidelines. Sure it was late. But that was old school football. Lighting someone up!! Used to see that every week 15-20 years ago. Bam. Loved it. Ronnie Lott and Brian Dawkins made the HOF on hits worse than that.
  10. Why predict the roster until we see who shines in the preseason? Joe B is very predictable w his roster projections every year. Never goes out on a limb. I guess McDermott is very predictable too. I see no reason for Gilliam to take up a roster spot. What is his upside and value? If Davidson and Morris have a higher ceiling, go with 4 TE’s. That’s certainly not unheard of. In today’s NFL very few teams have a FB. Unless we have Kyle Juzcyk or Sam Gash the position is a non factor. As for WR I am a big Claypool fan. If his injury isn’t serious, get him reps in the preseason and see what he’s got. Same with Shorter. He has great size. Let’s get him reps. And I am glad we aren’t hearing the “let’s cut MVS” nonsense. The guy is an NFL receiver. End of story. Keeping 5 backup O linemen seems excessive. I would keep an extra LB on the roster. Spector can’t play 2 qtrs w/o getting injured. Dion Jones is still solid if not great anymore. You need veterans at every position group to lead the team.
  11. I agree about Williams. He was part of the hype machine that is big time college football programs. And he sat on the bench and cried after losses. I am excited to see what he can do in the NFL though. He does get the juices flowing a bit more then say Bo Nix does. Murray has a good arm. Most guys playing in the NFL should have that. Except for Chad Pennington, of course.
  12. Shorter has been injured it seems since he was drafted last year. That's too bad because he showed something last year in the preseason when he was able to play. And Claypool seems to have been nicked up for at least the past 10 days. Some guys it seems have no luck and always seem to be nicked. You just have to wonder how Brett Favre played well over 250 consecutive games. When a guy like Shorter is always banged up.
  13. Murray was absolutely awful in the Cardinals playoff game against the Rams a few years back. He has been good at times. But overall average to a little bit above. He can be exciting to watch at least. I think the Bills should beat the Cardinals handily on opening day. Although Vegas doesn't seem to think so as we are only -6 1/2 which I find puzzling.
  14. He played on an overhyped overrated Washington team that got their asses whupped by my Michigan Wolverines. They could have played us on a neutral field 100 times. And we would have beaten them at least 90 times. That being said, I have no idea if this guy is a future NFL player or not. I do like Dorian Williams' game, probably better then McDermott does. And that needs to change for good old Sean.
  15. I see both sides of the coin. Don't like the guys from yesteryear having all the cognitive problems from their 40's on. Very sad how Dave Duerson, Andre Waters and Junior Seau killed themselves after getting CTE. (there maybe more that I am not aware of.) My son had a real good college football career playing D line/edge. He pulled a hammy at his pro day and did not get a shot in the pros. It pissed me off big time because I think he was good enough. He had a lot of injuries starting when he was probably 9 or 10 when he got concussed and still made like 10 tackles in the first half of a pee wee game. And me and his mother had to take to get him examined at the hospital at halftime. He broke his ankle in HS and tore a knee in college. But came back strong each time. And had a bunch of other less serious stuff too. But I have thought that at least he won't get his body destroyed for the next 10 years, including his head playing in the pros. So there is some good to come out of it. And he works in the financial world now. But I still would have loved for him to get the chance. But I don't think the game is more exciting today, then back when Jim Kelly, etc played. The game has always been exciting, including the violence and intimidating hits. Do you remember Leonard Smith for the Bills? It was exciting back then. And its exciting now. Don't know how old you are, but football has always been an awesome sport to watch as far back as I can remember, and I started watching in the mid 70's regularly as a kid. If you want to see a crazy game from a violence standpoint compared to today. Watch on Big 10 replay if you can find it, the Purdue-Kansas State Alamo Bowl at the end of the 1999 season. Drew Brees was playing for Purdue. (30 minute replay) What was legal from a hitting standpoint was ridiculous back then. LOL
  16. Disagree about Aiyuk vs Diggs of 4 years ago. That being said, this offense is going to be excellent. I love the weapons we have. And I don’t want guys who are bitching about their contracts. It’s a team game. Josh Allen gets that more than anyone. These guys all think they should get big money. And then the team has no money left to pay other good players and your team is stuck winning 6-9 games every year. I want guys who want to win first and foremost. That should matter still.
  17. How the hell is Shavers better than anyone? He hasn’t played an NFL snap. Go with MVS Claypool Shakir Hollins Samuel Coleman, and put Shavers and Hamler on the practice squad and let’s get the party started. MVS is an NFL WR. He has made big catches. He has length and speed. Enough said.
  18. Agree It was a lot of nothingness. There were no holes to run through for the receiving team. It looked like a run play up the middle every time. Pretty boring. Back 20-30 years ago, kickoffs were from the 30 yard line and there were lots of returns. It was an exciting play. The league never knows what it wants. What it should want is competitive physical football. They want 18 game seasons. Make rosters at 60 players all active for every game. And a practice squad also for when you lose guys to injuries. College teams sometimes have 100 guys dressed for a game. And the product is amazing.
  19. It’s interesting how all the rule changes are always in favor of the offense. We can give Miami forward motion if they will bring back the Mel Blount forearm club to the head. Would love to see Tyreek writhing on the ground. it’s so interesting for us old time football fans how the game has changed. No one ever talks about how good of a hitter someone is. We signed Kareem Jackson, who will lay people out, and people are concerned that he is a “dirty player”. Some intimidation in the defensive backfield is a good thing. It’s football. A gladiators game. I guess Roger didn’t get the memo.
  20. If he is a key player. Lets hope he keeps getting better, and stays injury free.
  21. Most of the players are interchangeable to be quite honest. The league is about the teams and the organizations. And yes the players comprise the teams. But so do coaches, trainers, scouts, owners and GM's. Have you watched Hard Knocks NYG? I find the inner workings of a football organization far more fascinating that watching Aaron Rodgers throw passes in shorts and joking on the sidelines with his teammates. Like I said in my earlier post, certain players are awesome to watch. (Josh Allen, hopefully Keon Coleman, maybe Dalton Kincaid if we use him like Utah did.) But most are just players that are replaceable. Its the game of football and how its played and set up between all the teams is what I find exciting. When I was young I may have cared more about individual players. Now I love the games and the point spreads, and the competition between teams.
  22. Where are we up to in the top 100 this week? Anyinteresting players at certain places on the list in your opinion?
  23. Why do you even care what Deshaun Watson did or did not do? He was never charged with a crime. If what he did was a crime he would be in prison like Darren Sharper. You know what Sharper did right? Sure he seems to be a big time sketch guy. But the moral sanctimonious outrage that people have in this world towards stuff that doesn’t personally affect them is just way too over the top. Unless he is messing with my daughter, I am not losing sleep over Deshaun Watson at this point. I have way bigger fish to fry bro. Most people can’t take care of their own business, let alone worry about everyone else’s.
  24. Milano is as tough and competitive a player as there is. He will go as hard as he can for as long as he can with his career. I see him playing at a high level for at least another 3-4 seasons if he can stay reasonably healthy. it’s been 4 days of training camp. He needs to knock the rust off. And the guys he is covering are good too. No one on defense dominates every snap in today’s NFL. It just doesn’t happen. if Milano needs a little time to get up to speed, we have Spector Williams Morrow Jones and the rookie from UW. We are deep at LB and across the entire roster (Maybe could use another boundary CB depending on how solid Ingram looks)
  25. He isn’t horrible. But he doesn’t make many game changing plays either. After this many years, he understands the Bills defense and must be decent on special teams. But there must be some upside to keep a guy on an NFL roster. I have never liked McDermott’s philosophy of keeping guys primarily for special teams. They should have some value as backups on O and D too. I think of Siran Neal and Tyler Matekevich. What a waste. They could not really play D. And they were meh on ST’s and Neal was worse than that at the end. I hope the bottom of the roster is stronger going forward. I think it will be.
