I agree. Our receivers outside of Shakir are brutal. Sad about Diggs. What has happened to the man? But still his offensive play calling is oh so predictable.
-
Lawson brings grit and toughness. He is a professional. But at this point is he going to be better then Kingsley Jonathan next season? I would draft two WR's that can come in and contribute next year with big upside going forward. We need a big young DT, and a safety. And just fill in the gaps with defensive players that can play fast and get after the QB. Not easy to find. But we sure need some guys that can flat out play on the D Line.

How do fans even think about the future at times like this?
Paup 1995MVP replied to ShakAttack's topic in The Stadium Wall
Its frustrating sad and upsetting. But we all want to figure out how we can keep this from happening next year. And be champions. We weren't good enough again. The defense looked like ***** most of the night. And Josh doesn't have nearly enough playmakers around him. Look what the Ravens have at the skill positions now. Heck look at the Lions. And the coaching just has not been good enough. Is it horrible? No. Is it dynamic enough on offense? Certainly not when we have a talent like Josh Allen. Brady needs to go. He brought nothing with his game plan tonite. McDermott has been pretty weak in the playoffs. But going from 6-6 to 12-6, its kind of difficult to fire the guy. And I don't love his coaching. But a change at OC and on ST coach should certainly happen. -
Why has Diggs become our underneath guy anyways? He used to blow by people or run 15-20 yard crossing patterns. Now he is running mostly 5-7 yard turn ins and comebacks to the QB. If Diggs is still an NFL receiver, (which is debatable) he has to be doing more then that. Our route scheme w Joe Brady has been terrible. Rarely is anyone even remotely open, let alone wide open. And we go two thirds of the game without throwing to Kincaid. And while I don't love Knox, we threw to him one time tonite. That's ridiculous.
-
He three 3 perfect deep passes. Sherfield let the first one hit his left bicep, and the second one he could not secure, but should have. And the one to Diggs went right through his hands. Other than Shakir, none of our WR's made a contested catch all season.
-
Murray and Phillips have nothing left. Edwards played well tonite and could start if someone gets injured. He is a mauler. Johnson can play. We need big time upgrades at WR S and D Line.

5 years, no super bowl appearances. 1 championship game. Obviously not good enough. But the offense is severely limited with the WR group we have. They just can not get any separation or make any sort of contested catch, or catch any deep ball for that matter. Keep Shakir, and the rest can go including Diggs. His play has fallen off a cliff in the second half of the season. Kincaid is a big talent when used properly. But the D looked awful for most of the game. Sure we have injuries, but the D Line did not show. That's a big problem. And McDermott or Brady really did not make any adjustments in our game plan to catch the Chiefs off guard. Tough painful loss.

Bringing in Pittman from the Colts AND a high draft pick would be an excellent makeover of the WR group. Can we make the dollars work on that is the question?

Kansas City at Buffalo in the Divisional Round!
Paup 1995MVP replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
And this seems to be a different Bills team as well. At least the last 6 games. Everyone playing with a lot more grit and toughness. We certainly did not dominate the Chargers Pats and Dolphins on the scoreboard. But we never panicked and made all the plays we needed in each game to win. Same with against the Steelers. Although I thought we dominated them as much as anyone in the streak other than the Cowgirls. -
The refs blew that call bigtime. It was obvious that Spector completely possessed the ball in bounds. You could see that in live time. Not sure why the refs couldn't see it in live time or on review. The rule is pretty straightforward that if a player with any part of his body out of bounds touches the ball, its dead there. But that didn't happen in the Bills-Steelers game. It was a fumble by the Pittsburgh TE, recovered by Spector in bounds.

Super elite is probably overstating his ability at this point in time. But he still can be a force for us going forward. He should have at least one more real good year in him in 2024. And after that its anybody's guess how much is left in the tank.

I agree with everything you said about Harbaugh, except letting Sharone Moore be our head coach. Don't want him running the show. Very conservative on offense. Not a good play caller. And he was crying after we beat Penn State. Emotion is good. But bawling on the field after beating a rival, is a little weird in my book. I would be happy with Jesse Minter taking over as head coach. (His defensive scheme is top notch.) And bringing in a new OC with a little more innovation.
-
Michigan alumni here. Harbaugh has created a great culture w the program. Players love playing for Harbaugh, for the program, for the school, for each other. Not many enter the portal like a lot of other programs. We play hard nosed physical football in both sides of the football. It’s like 1990 all over again. But it worked. I hope he is back. But if he leaves, our DC Jesse Minter should get the job. He is tremendous. We have a real tough schedule next year. And our QB is going pro. We play Texas Washington Oregon USC and Ohio State. That maybe tougher than the AFC West. Lol

What's your confidence level going into the game today?
Paup 1995MVP replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
We have one more win then the Steelers this year. They are a tough physical team. And so are we. Playoff games should never be easy. Look at the Bills-Colts game from 3 years ago. Came down to the end. If Josh plays well we should win. But we have only beaten the Chiefs, Chargers, Pats and Dolphins by 3, 2, 6 and 7 pts. And all 4 games were in doubt in the 4th quarter. Only the Cowboys' game was a blowout. But we are battle tested. So we should prevail. -
Their defense is not physical. It’s that simple. They did not want to tackle anyone on KC last night. Defense is a mindset. They don’t have it. We do.

Diggs is not dominant now. Whether he is next year remains to be seen. WR is a young man's position now. He can be a good possession receiver for us the rest of the year, and hopefully next year as well. We need to scheme the offense through Shakir and Kincaid and make good use of our RB's not named Latavious Murray. Hopefully Diggs makes some solid plays when his number is called. And the same for Davis. But this is not the same Diggs of his first 3 and a half years playing for us. The coaches need to know that. And scheme accordingly. I would also play Shorter this week, and sit Sherfield. Guy looks like he has no idea what route he is supposed to run. How we play this Sunday and hopefully in the playoffs on offense should be a big determining factor on whether Brady returns or not. Coaching is obviously important. But you can only do so much with the talent on the roster.

What's Wrong With The Passing O?
Paup 1995MVP replied to Donuts and Doritos's topic in The Stadium Wall
His accuracy has been off the past 2 games. He hasn't been terrible. But certainly not spot on with his ball placement-not even close. Our receivers do not get much separation if any at times. But he still has missed some throws that he should make. If we are going on a run at least to the AFCCG he needs to be better regardless of the pieces around him. He is the straw that stirs the drink-if you remember that saying from Reggie Jackson w the 1970's New York Yankees I believe. -
Bills open -1.5 over the despised Fish
Paup 1995MVP replied to Walking Tall's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well said. I like our chances if Josh plays well. Which he should-but needs to find his accuracy again. Our defense was flying around today. Bernard Douglas and Oliver were awesome. I think our D has played really hard this year. They will beat up Tua. Should be a great game. -
Murray should not play another snap for us. We got about 6 or 7 solid games out of him early on in the season. And that's it. He is done. Had a very good career. But there comes a time. Roll w Cook Johnson and Fournette, and we are very good at the RB position.
-
You said it perfectly. Shakir is the best we got right now. Its really shocking what has happened to Diggs' play. Lets hope our guys find a spark this week.
-
Our receivers as a group do not get any consistent separation. They also drop a lot of passes. Sherfield should not be on an NFL field. He is terrible. Kincaid and Shakir are our two best threats right now. Diggs and Davis did not do much today. And Knox was invisible. Josh wasn’t great by any stretch. But the entire receiving corps needs a major overhaul in the offseason.

Is it time to put out an Amber Alert on Dalton Kincaid?
Paup 1995MVP replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
That’s the best you got? The original poster makes a good point. Our 1st round pick isn’t getting the ball thrown to him and is not a big part of the offense. That’s a legitimate question and concern. Doesn’t mean he hates the team. -
What are you his mother or father? Its a figure of speech big boy. Von has had a good career. But I never loved his game. More of a Demarcus Ware and Chris Doleman fan to be honest as far as where Von's ranks historically with the best DE's. But that's one man's opinion. But what is fact is that Von Miller should not be out on the football field right now. Maybe next year he will be closer to what he used to be. But right now he needs to try and get well. Any other player on the team who was playing w that little effort and effect would not be playing for long.
-
Von stinks and Phillips can’t play more than 3 games w/o getting hurt. In the playoffs we will be better w AJ and Poona both playing. God I hate Von. I think Bruce Smith w a week of practice could still outplay him right now.
