a re-examination leads to the right call
VirginiaMike replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was a Fumble, not an INT, but who cares. Maybe the Tebow lovers. It is still a turnover and a Bills TD!!! -
So Brees was a 2nd round pick.
VirginiaMike replied to Toshiero's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great Point here! Hindsight is almost always 20-20. Dalton has looked good, but lets see as time goes on. There is never a guarentee on any player you select and the QB position seems to have a bigger risk factor than most. i think that's because there is more "reaching" for the QB position in the draft. Montana was a 3rd rounder, Brady a 6th rounder, Romo and Unitas were free agents to mention a few late picks who suceeded. -
The center position is the key position on th eO-Line as far as I'm concerned. Woods injuries were very serious, but he came back to play well after the broken leg and he'll come back well after this one as well.

Tom Brady Potential Record
VirginiaMike replied to miserable_fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The hope is that, unless a miracle occurs, the Pats get up early and brady takes a seat. If the Hoodie and Brady try to run it up and get yards passing, I hope that someone knocks Brady silly and he has to miss the playoffs. Not looking for a career ender, but a nice broken finger or thumb on the throwing had would work fine. Maybe a dislocated shoulder. -
I'll be rooting for a Bills victory as I have every game this year, but the odds are against us. Three O-Linemen down and only Stevie Johnson resembles a NFL wide receiver on this team. The secondary is also pretty banged up a CB. I'll be rooting, but I don't think it's going to happen. The other key is to root against the Jets. I can take some solice if the Jets also finish out of the playoffs.

No QB available will be worth taking between picks 8-12 so the Bills need to shore up the defense. The Bills need someone to rush the passer and I'd also like to see another inside linebacker as well. The Bills need cornerbacks as well as speed receivers, but I think that you can find receivers in lower rounds. Unless there is a Larry Fitzgerald, Julio Jones, Calvin Johnson type available in round 1, I'd go linebacker.

I don't see Jackson going anywhere. You need two good running backs and Choice is not the choise. Jackson and spiller together gives the Bills the backfield they need. As a 3o year old RB (that's old for a RB), Jackson's trade value is not very high and certainly not as high as his worth is to the Bills. I don't see the Bills getting any more for him then they got for Lynch when he was traded.

chris Kelsay...facebook thumbs up!
VirginiaMike replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice Job by Kelsay ttoday. I stil say he can't play OLB, but he's a good D=Emd, which is more or less what he played today. -
Mike Greenberg selected the Bronco's to beat the Bills this week. H'e just terrible so the way I see it, the Bills will win. I'd love to the the Bills squash Tebow Mania.

The only positions that the Bills don't need help in are: - Center - Guard - RB - Safety - TE (if you believe in Chandler - I'm not sure yet) Other than those spots the Bills could use help everywhere. I don't see 1st round QB talent being available when the Bills pick in the 1st round so I agree, put the QB position aside in round 1 and draft a project. In the 1st round I'd like to see the Bills select the player who has their highest rating and plays one of the following positions: OLB, WR, MLB. I would not draft a OT, CB or TE in round 1. Just my opinion

The freakin JETS are #1 on the list and they have a big lead over anyone else. After the Jets it's the Patriots, Cowboys, Redskins, Titans, & Dolphins. I still hold a grudge about the Music City Miracle.

I don't see Orton as much of any upgrade over Fitzy. If we can get one of the "big three" in the draft then go for it, but don't take anything below those three in round 1. The Bills are not a QB only away from being a really good team, they need alot more and don't mortgage the future for 1 player. The Bills need more than 1 player. Of course, that implies that the Bills could make a decent draft selection, something they have yet to prove.
-
He's not on my list for the Bills as a 1st rounder. If the Bills can get one of the top 3 (Luck, RGIII, or the USC guy)I'm for taking a QB in round 1. None of the others seem to be worth a pick that high.

Current Roster better for a 4-3 or 3-4?
VirginiaMike replied to Booger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wholeheartedly agree. I think we have tow very good D-Tackles (Willaims & dareus), butr neither is a prototypical NT. the guys we have plating LB in our 3-4 are really average D-Ends ina 4-3 and poor OLB's in a 3-4. We need help at LB no matter which system we play. This 'Hybrid" we play now is awful. We only play it because we don't have the right personnel for a real 3-4. I think we need less pieces if we go 4-3 than 3-4. -
I basically agree. Chan's decision making has to be questioned. You hit some good ones with putting levitre at center while he was having a very good year at guard and wasn't ready for center. Another is his continued move of shutting down the run, now that Jackson is gone. Another is letting the D_Coordinator continue to suck it up on the field. Same with Special teams. He needs to get in and push those coordinators to fix their problems. I don't see that. I also question his leadership. I saw some quit out on the field by some players this past week. I hadn't seen alot of that before last week, but I think it's made it into the team.

Does Gronk make Troup the worst Bills 2nd rounder
VirginiaMike replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have made soooo many bad 1st round reaches, it's tough to work you way down to our round 2 screw ups. -
Who's the better RB? Fred or CJ?
VirginiaMike replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously, someone is actually asking this question. What a joke. -

When the run game is working (TEN/MIA)
VirginiaMike replied to Kaenon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed -- I don't get it Chan. And then to top it off, Chan uses Choice when Spiller is running good????? His explanation really baffles me: "We had a plan of certain packages that we were using C.J. and we were using Tashard in," Bills coach Chan Gailey said. "We knew we were going to use C.J. a lot in the passing game. We knew that was going to be part of it so we're trying not to wear the guy completely out. He's not the biggest back in the world. I don't think he can go out there and carry it 25 or 30 times." Was Chan watching the game at all? Is Spiller that much different than Reggie Bush? Bush run all over us for over 200 yards. It would have been very helpful ifMiami didn't want to run Bush too uch because "he's not the biggest back in the world". -
1. Who have we drafted that we want to keep) that would not fit into a 4-3 rather than a 3-4? I thinkDareus as a 4-3 DT would be much more effective that he is today. Same with Williams, who would be better as a 4-3 DT than as a NT in a 3-4. Out LB's would be the same in either -- they aren't good in a 3-4, can't be any worse in a 4-3. 2. The offense is not the problem with our defense -- DOH! If our defense cold stop someone and get off the field, they would be on the sidelines more.

Oh No -- we've lost an Assistant Coach
VirginiaMike replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a little cold -- I'm sure the Bills can beat most of the Division 1 teams out there! -
Bills asst. takes top job at Missouri Southern One of the Bills assistant coaches (Daryl Daye) is leaving for a college head coaching job at Missouri Southern. He assisted Chan with day to day work as well as helped with LBs and special teams. What are we going to do? The team will fall apart. Linebackers and special teams will perform poorly! Chan will look lost! Oh wait, all that has already happened. For a minute I was worried.

This goes back to my earlier post of performance against expectations. The Bills, record wise, are about where I expected. They did not get to this record the way I expected (never dreamed of a 5-2 record). It was the old bait and switch and unless you paid attention to the way we got to 5-2 you could easily have over rated this team and dreamed of playoffs and championships.
