Don't you want the best players on the field no matter where they were drafted? I do, if Mularky says Reeds is better for this team than Evans I'm sure he knows more about it than your or me. You want Evans to start because you HOPE he'll be good, not that he's actually better than Reed right now. And since when does the #3 WR "sit on the bench"? He'll see plenty of playing time and once he is a better wideout than Reed he'll be starting, but not until then. Reed is a MUCH better WR than you give you credit for. He had no viable #1 opposite of him last year (with a gimpy Moulds running half speed), so how can you judge him on his merits of being a solid #2?

I get annoyed with both TH and WM and their mouths somewhat, but honestly, who wants to be a backup in the NFL? Show me a guy who's happy being a backup and I'll show you a loser.

I remember Terry Bradshaw do some halftime highlights once where Deon intercepted a pass for a TD and on about the 30 yard line he starts highstepping and showing off. Bradsahw says, "I'd love to see the guy pull a hamstring doing that." I had a newfound respect for Bradshaw after that.

True, but Monk was NEVER a dominate receiver, he just had longevity on his side...that does count for something, but I want to see dominating players in the Hall, not guys who were just productive for long periods of time.

It would take 4 seasons in a row (starting this year) of 1300-1400+ yards and 10+ TDs and 80+ catches. It sucks that the guy has had to work with the bottom of the barrel in terms of QBs during his career, but they won't take that into consideration when voting into the hall. He needs to start putting up huge numbers every year.

Not this year when the Dolphins pose no real threat to win the division...I want the Bills to win a division title and the Pats are the main obstacle to that goal. -
WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP.. ESPN POWER RANKINGS

My question is why do you think we're a better team, right now, than the Ravens, Vikings or Packers? What have we done to deserve being above those teams? We've made no major additions and those teams were all better than us last year. They're not going to give us props for a rookie head coach. Personally, this is what I want, to fly under the radar with no respect then surprise the hell out of people by seasons end. This team could end up being very very good (if it was indeed a coaching problem last year)...or it could be another 6-10 or 7-9 year...nobody knows right now, even Bills fans. I got all pumped up last season, I'll be a little more tempered this year and hope for the best. -

That's because the Pat's DBs mugged the hell out of the Colts WR. We'll see just how much the NFL wants to make of enforcing the contact rule this Thursday. Prime time game to open the season, national audience between two of the best teams in the league. If they want to make a statement about the rule, they'll do it. If it was all just lip service, we'll find that out too. I see Belichick tellings his DBs to test the officials early, see what they're going to allow and what they're not...and we'll see how that effects the game. I'm guessing the NFL enforces the hell out of the rule on Thursday, they like offense and high scoring games because it sells. The game Thursday will send a message to defenses everywhere to lay off WRs this year which will probably result in higher scoring games...which is what the NFL (unfortunately) wants. -
No clue what the rules of your league are, but if you are in a "flex" league, where you can start RBs or WRs at 2-3 "flex" positions, you're making a HUGE mistake going with 4 WRs. Sure, at the end of the year WRs will put up similar numbers to RBs, but week in week out they're nowhere near as consistant as RBs...and if you're playing head to head consistancy is the key. A Starting RB is going to see 15+ touches a game...your WR might see 1 catch some weeks. A 4 WR offense, no matter how good your WRs are is the recipe for an up and down season. One week you might put up more points than anybody else all season and the get smacked by the worst team in the league because your 4 WR combined for 7 catches, 120 yards and 1 TD. If given the option ALWAYS go heavy on RBs...well, at least that's the way I see it =)

I've heard this said a few times and I honestly just don't get it. Everyone rips on RJ pretty much saying he is the bottom of the barrel of QBs...yet they still think that if home run throw back didn't happen we could have gone to the Super Bowl...so which is it? Neither Flutie or RJ were capable of getting this team to the Super Bowl that year. Yeah, the D might have been the best i the league but averaging 13 points a game on offense wasn't going to get it done two times on the road in the playoffs.

So the question is...who scares you more "with more room to work with": Harrison and the Colts WRs or the bunch of average to above average WRs the Pats field? Give Harrison "a little room" and he has a shot to take it to the house every play. I'm not predicting a Colts victory...well, actually, yeah I am. Colts win by 14...though the Pats will recover nicely and still win the division. -
Nope, because half of his job is hiring the right coach to get that talent into the playoffs and getting players who not only have talent but have the mental wherewithall to perform each and every week of the season. I'm not saying I don't think TD has done a good job, but at some point the buck stops there, and if this team comes out and lays a 5-10 record how many more excuses are we going to give TD? If that happened it would be 4 seasons and not one season with a winning record to show for it...at some point the finger has to be pointed at the man pulling the trigger. Let's hope this team goes out and puts up a 10+ win season like they have the talent to do and it's all a moot point.
-
It depends. If we go 8-8 or 9-7 and appear to be on the cusp of winning then TD gets one more year to do something...if we are the doormats of the conference and finish 6-10 or worse, TD has to go and we need to try something else. This team is loaded with talent, barring injuries there is no way they should miss the playoffs unless we go 10-6 and don't go due to a tie-breaker. I said it last year and still believe it...without KG as our OC last year this team might have made the playoffs, he was that bad. If this D can cause a few more turnovers I see no reason a 10-6 season isn't within our grasp.
-
Because they placed him on IR ending his season because of a 4 week injury...of course he's pissed and he has every right to be. Maybe it's your dream to pick up a paycheck while sitting on the couch but I'd imagine Tavis probably wants to develop as a QB and get a crack as starting one day...perhaps its a pipe dream, but the guy has to shoot for something.
-
So basically if we keep the guys on the roster that TD drafted "his ego won't let him admit he made a mistake" and if we cut them it's "evidence he can't draft well in the later rounds" Do I have this straight?

Couldn't hold the #2 spot? Moulds was hurt from gave 5 on last year and defenses knew it, so Reed never really had chance to grow into the #2 spot as there was no viable #1 opposite of him...not to mention it generally takes WRs a few years to learn the ropes. Evans will take time to develop and until he proves otherwise Reed should and will be the #2 WR in 2WR sets. People's wanting Evans to step right into the starting lineup are more a product of their hopes than reality...the irony is that if Evans gets thrown to the wolves as a rookie and doesn't produce right off the bat people will call him a "bust" too when it most likely is simply a young WR not being ready to move into a starting spot.
-
This offense can not be as ineffective as last year's as long as Moulds, Henry, and Bledsoe all stay healthy. Moulds injury killed this team last year...more so than Price's departure. As for what I'm looking for, I don't have to see a TD (it would be nice) but I'd like to see the starting Oline open up some running lanes and consistantly provide Bledsoe (or whoever is QB once Bledsoe is removed) with some time to throw on a consistant basis. I'd like to see them be effective in blitz pickup (if they actually see blitzes). I'd also like to see WM improve a bit in terms of his tentativness. I'd like to see him explode into the hole...but I'll take just a slight improvement on how hesitant he was last week. I'd like to see the D create another turnover, just to give them some more confidence that they can continue doing so once the regular season roles around. Right now they almost look like a ball hawking D and I'd like to see that continue.

Do You Always Root for the US in Sports?
MDH replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's wrong with me? I'm not a blind sheep who follows the flock no matter what. So you can go root for any American even if he's an idiot scumbag and I'll pick the man/woman who I think represents what I think is important in life...and that's not what country you happened to be born in. Honestly guys like Alan Iverson and Gary Hall Jr. make me want to puke...it embarrasses me that they're from the same country as I am. And in case none of the above makes sense to you, I can speak your language as well.... :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: -
I'm glad it didn't because I just noticed the sticky for the first time today!

Either Rudy is dumb as dirt as has been hypothesized already or he is Hogboy having a good laugh with another one of his personas.

Rick Mirer would be a GREAT pickup...the day the NFL legalizes the bounce pass.

I saw this coming a mile away, before the preseason ever started. People got themselves all pumped up about Lee Evans and 3 preseason games in they're already wanting to question why he isn't "producing". I'll tell you why...he's a rookie who's only played 3 preseason games. I'll tell you something else, it's unlikely that he'll really produce this season at all on a consistant basis. That's just the way it is with WR unless a team gets lucky and a player just "clicks" like Boldin did last year. Look for Josh Reed to step it up this year and provide a consistant target while Evans will provide a few glimpses of his speed and playmaking ability. I said it after the draft and during camp. Evans will not be the primary WR opposite Moulds in the 2WR set this year.

Nobody thought Tom Brady was a legitimate starter before the injury either. One never can tell.
