Just curious, how many "damn good teams" start out 0-3? Call people "whiners" all you want but I don't care how well a team knocks other guys off the ball, hit holes hard in the running game or has plenty of speed to beat the opposing team beat...none of this matters if they continually make costly mistakes at important parts of the game. GOOD teams don't do this, period. Also, you say you watched the 1st and 2nd quarters...I'm wondering how you could watch those quarters and come away with this D being "very very good"? Was it the 200+ yards passing that Brady put up against us in the first half? The constant blitzing we did with no results? What did you see that makes you say this?

And if it was just that game I don't think people would be in the state of panic they are right now...but you add to it the Oakland and Jax games and it's not looking good? The Bills were playing the SB champs last week...what was their excuse for the other two games in which they made numerous bone-headed mistakes? Bottom line, this week's game against the Jets is the season. We win this one and beat the fins at home and that puts us at 2-3 and 2-1 in the division. Lose this game and the season is pretty much over in terms of any chance of making the playoffs...0-4 in the AFC and 0-2 in the division means pretty much 0% chance of the playoffs.

Not only does he need 5K...he's charging $25 to ship a ring!

NS, had Texas been bright enough to keep Applewhite as the starter they might not have choked every year in big games...

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't think the playcall itself was that bad. Nobody in the entire state was expecting it, had they actually executed the play correctly (yeah yeah, I know) I'm guessing it probably would have worked. I recall seeing KC run a naked bootleg on 4th and 1 about 10 years ago with Dave Kreig (who wasn't exactly Vick either) and they burned the D for a 70 yard TD because nobody was looking for it. I don't think you can blame a play call unless the players actually run it semi-correctly and it fails. The only thing I would question about the call is who it was called against...the Pats...they'er not really for overpursuing and ususally play pretty disciplined.

I wonder what happens during practice when the ultra-movable object goes against the easily-stoppable force?
-
We're only averaging one penalty a game more than the Giants...they're averaging 7.25 and we're averaging 8.33...both those numbers suck, so let's not compliment the "disciplinarian" in NYC when his team is committing some idiotic penalties as well. If you want to compliment someone, try Norm Edwards...the Jets have been penalized 9 times all season...3 times a game.
-
I hope he also showed them Joe Burns, on the sideline after his penalty, laughing about it. This sent me off the deep end at home.

That wasn't a "pick play"...had McGee been ANYWHERE near his man he would have easily ran underneath the other CB and WR...unfortunately he was beaten so badly and was much too deep that he could only go around them. McGee was picked on quite a bit yesterday, apparently people missed this and only saw his kick return TD and his almost INT...

So why is your biggest fear replacing Bledsoe if you think we'd only end up with the same results with Mathews? If it makes no difference why fear it? Hell, if Mathews can put up the same results, we should just get rid of Bledsoe and his contract right now. I have absolutely no faith that Mathews is an NFL calibur QB...which is why I'm not screaming for Bledsoe to be benched...that being said I'm not sure that the Bills offense couldn't put up 10 points a game with him starting at QB.

The negativity of Bills fans isn't going to make the players play any better or worse this weekend in NYC than if everybody was holding hands singing Koombya. What they players need to do is not worry about what the fans are saying and concentrate on getting better...because that's the only way rational fans will get off their backs. You can sit in the corner thinking good thoughts and believe that you can will this team to victory with sweet dreams, but it ain't gunna happen that way. I root for the Bills as hard as anybody, no matter how many times they rip my heart out. So don't sit there and tell me I'm not as good of a fan as others who wish to delude themselves into thinking everything is AOK.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!! I didn't need to read the rest of your post, this right here had me laughing out loud for the first time today. Hell, I'm still laughing, HAHAHAHAHA. And the Jets undeated record next week will have been earned against four really poor teams...

(OFT) Movie Suggestion - New Releases

That's a french film (although with an English leading lady, Charlotte Rampling...the filmaker, Francois Ozon is French. And to be honest, with the exception of Ludivine Sagnier's breasts (just spectacular!) the film sucked...check out Ozon's infinately better Eight Women or Under the Sand. -
Hell, Jay Fielder had a 35-18 record with the Dolphins (the third highest winninger percentage of active QBs with more than 25 starts) after their week 1 loss this year and the Phins benched him because they felt they needed a spark. We can't sit a guy has won 9 games in his last 27 starts...mostly because we have no viable backup. Too bad we didn't sign Volek in the offseason...

All out blitz baby! Johan Santana Who the hell is Martina McBride? Umm, I'll guess the video where she's-half naked! Silence...let's forget intros and get to the game! Robert Gallery

Time for Mularkey to institute a fine...
MDH replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd rather see fines for the idiotice penalties we see every week. The showboating is annoying, but at least these players have emotion...what they need to do is learn to keep that emtion in check and stop breaking the f'in rules of the game like they didn't know they exist! -
Are the Bills making us emotionless?
MDH replied to CoachChuckDickerson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, idiotically enough I'm still crazy mad come breakdown time. It'd do my temper some good if I could move on to the numb stage of the Bills 12 step program. -
(OFT) Movie Suggestion - New Releases

Infernal Affairs - saw it Saturday, not the best Hong Kong cop film I've ever seen (I'll give that nod to John Woos "Hard Boiled") and it's not as action packed as some, but the style and grace which the story is told was almost breathtaking. Check it out if you have a chance. -
What!?! We may have blitzed but that doesn't mean McGee shouldn't be in the same zip code as the WR who caught the TD. He wasn't within 10 yards of him. Oh, I get it, whenever there's a "golden boy", a player people like, it's somehow always somebody else's fault when they don't produce. Whatever. Sure, the blitzing D that didn't get pressure hurts the D backs...but it doesn't excuse them from doing their jobs. McGee started backpeddling when the WR was cutting across the field on a slant...he recognized the route way too late and because he was so deep he ended up getting caught behind another D back and another Pat WR...but it most certainly was McGees fault he wasn't in the same time zone as the WR...uh huh
-
I'll admit all of those things helped contribute to the loss...but what do the defensive mistakes have to do with the fact that our O hasn't put more than 1TD on the board in 3 weeks? Let's stick to offensive production. How were our 3rd down conversions Sunday? Is that Wire's fault too? Sure, it's the entire offenses fault that they're not producing, but something needs to be done to fix the problems. I've never heard of replacing the center or a guard on offense really sparking a team to some victories...I can't say the same about switching the QB. Maybe Drew's getting a bum deal (I don't think so but...), but if the offense doesn't start producing then Drew will be benched at some point. Hell, even if Drew starts playing better, the week we get our 8th loss (thereby ending any playoff chances) I want to see JP (if, and only IF, he's healthy) starting the next week. The moment we're playing towards next season we should put our future on the field.

Just watched tape of game starting at 6:50 of 1st

But what this ignores EVERY QBs dropped passes! This is saying that if Drew had zero dropped balls this year and every other QB in the league still had all the drops his WRs have made this year, then Drew would be the highest rated QB in the league. Well, GD, I'd hope so! Hey look, obviously there are other facets of the Bills game that are extremely lacking. The WRs have dropped too many balls this year (most notably in the Oakland game) but they didn't do so yesterday. I counted 2 dropped balls, one by Moulds and one by Reed (and that Reed catch was not an easy catch). The Oline has looked bad at times this year, but they blocked well for most of the game yesterday (and did a good job in pass protection against Oak despite many who’d like to state otherwise)...was it their fault that Drew overthrew a wide open Reed for a TD on the opening drive? Anyway, these other deficiencies don't mean that Drew is playing well. He did play pretty well most of the day yesterday...that meaningless drive at the end told me all I need to know about our QB though. He crumbles when things start to go poorly. He lacks any mental fortitude. That is not what I want to see in our starting QB. He also can't make plays when he has little protection. And I've seen other QBs, even Billy Volek yesterday for example, who read the blitz quickly and throw the ball 30 yards downfield and let their WRs make a play even when a blitzer comes totally free...tell me the last time you saw Drew do that? But yeah yeah, it's always the WRs and the Olines fault. -
Fletcher has been penalized for 73 yards this season already...more than 3 times the amount of any other player. I wish he'd just go back to concentrating on racking up lots of tackles 5 yards downfield and leave the penalties to the O-line.
-
Is that the Palmer way too? How's he doing this year? What about Manning, he did pretty well his second year after starting his first? Not to mention, Vick still hasn't developed into a QB, if it weren't for his feet (which he didn't learn to use sitting on the sideline his first year) he's be an average QB right now. My point is, there are different ways of bringing QBs along. You can point to the successes and failures of both. I don't think starting JP the last 5 or so games of this season could do anything but help the kid get ready for next year. There would be no presure on him as our season will be shot by then anyway and our last 5 oppenents appear to be pretty weak. And I'd also disagree with the QB scrambling talent effecting sack outcomes. With the exception of Drew, the league leaders in sacks the last few years have almost all been scramblers...Vick, Culpepper and McNabb.
-
People need to get off this McGee bandwagon. He's a hell of a returner and he does have a knack for being around the ball on D...but he got burned more times yesterday than anybody not named Coy...and that TD he allowed was just awful. If Vincent is healthy McGee shouldn't get anywhere near the starting lineup.

True...but does anybody think that Travis could have actually blocked Bruschi had he went the right way? I've seen Travis' blocking and I have little doubt he would have whiffed on that block big time.
