I, admittedly, don’t follow college football closely. But I don’t get how Mahomes wasn’t viewed as a sure fire QB prospect. I’ve never seen a more accurate QB. He throws off platform, he throws on the run off platform, he beats the blitz with quick throws, he can run...he does everything and just about all his throws are with pin point accuracy. He’s the most natural thrower is the football I’ve ever seen. I get he played in the air raid offense but if they just looked at HOW he throws the football it seems like it should have been obvious.

Don’t have to score on them now. Get the offense going by season’s end is the goal. With 9 new starters it’s not surprising they’re not clicking immediately.

Fans and “experts” seem to only care how good a team’s offense is. Chiefs are a flawed team. All time great O but just horrible on defense. They can be beaten.

Why the hell are Nantz and Romo doing the Den/LAC game?

10/6/2019 Bills @Titans post game thread
MDH replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven’t been this happy about a win since week 17 two years ago. This was a huge win for the Bills. It was basically a 4 game swing in the race for the wild card vs the Titans. Because of the win they have a 2 game advantage and the tie breaker, a 3 game lead in effect. Had they lost they’d have the same record and have lost the tie breaker, they would have been a game back in effect. This game and the Clev and Balt games are the biggest on the schedule. Test one: passed. -
Totally agree Simon, they need a better ratio. That said, that last drive was the most impressive they’ve had all season. I f’n loved them running the ball right down their throats when they knew the run was coming. And doing it with starters at only 2 spots on the OL in the game. It was a thing of beauty.

Next Gen Stats says Bills' pass blocking is NFL's second-best
MDH replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I likely also has to do with how often Allen is blitzed. I believe the stat I saw yesterday was that the Bills were blitzed on 41% of their drop backs. It didn't say how often they were blitzed with 5, 6 or 7 but anything over 5 and it's on the QB to make sure he identifies the free man (men) and gets the ball out to the proper outlet. How many times have we seen the blitz come and Allen quickly dumps the ball off to the back or Cole for a big gain? I can't think of any. He usually takes off running. After games I've seen a lot of fans come to the board and say how horrid the OL was and I'm usually thinking, "they can only block 5, Allen needs to do a better job vs. the blitz." That said, Ford has been a train wreck at LT. I'd guess at least half of the legit QB pressures this line has allowed have come from him. -
Is Josh ‘too Favre’ like? (Athletic pay wall)
MDH replied to TroutDog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was coachable in Favre. It doesn’t mean you can change every player’s mentality who has that particular gene. The article mentions that there have been quite a few players who went by the wayside who couldn’t be coached out of repeatedly making those aggressive, I can do anything mistakes. Let’s hope Allen can tame that aggressiveness somewhat. -

I’m pretty sure he had high hopes for himself too. -
Josh Allen’s deep ball hasn’t been there so far
MDH replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My movie analogy for Allen is Nuke Laloosh from Bull Durham. “I want to bring the heat, announce my presence with authority!’ “This guys a first ball fastball hitter” “So what? He aint seen my heat.” -

Air distance and distance downfield past the line of scrimmage aren't the same thing (those are called “air yards”) Air distance measures the actual distance the ball was in the air, not the yards past the line of scrimmage the wr caught the ball. -

Yep, Sanders was the best I've ever seen. And, unlike Emmitt, he didn't get the benefit of doing it behind an all time great OL.

Josh Allen in concussion protocol: Update cleared 10/5
MDH replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This game is one of the most important the Bills will play this season. The Titans are a competitor for a WC spot. Giving them an L and having the tiebreaker over them would be huge. If Allen is cleared there's no reason he shouldn't play. -
Seems obvious we need to run more but should we?
MDH replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to run the ball a little more but mostly I'd like to see them get the RBs more involved in the passing game with screens. It acts as an extension of the run game and helps keep the D on their heels. Hopefully Singletary returns and both happen. -
I like Gore, always have, but him breaking records while with the Bills just doesn't excite me. If he had been with the team that majority or his career, or even 5 or so years I'd be excited. But a one year rental player doing it while with the Bills just doesn't get me revved up.

Josh Allen in concussion protocol: Update cleared 10/5
MDH replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously the punt block was a huge difference, but that happened in the 1st quarter. The team had ample opportunity to overcome that mistake and failed to do so. A offense putting up 10 points isn't going to win often in this league. An offense that turns the ball over 4 times isn't going to win often in this league. It's not impossible (See: Jets) but it's a statistical anomaly. Josh took sacks on 3 different third downs that either put the Bills out of FG range or made the FG attempt more difficult. To me, these are bigger plays than the INTs in terms of the Bills winning or losing. The first one I wasn't egregious, he got blitzed and they got to him fast. Yeah, a QB is supposed to read the blitz, know where his outlet is and get rid of it but he's young, THIS is a young QBs mistake. The other two were just horrendous. He sat back in the pocket for 5-6 seconds and still took a sack. These decisions led directly to 3-6 points being taken off the board. This is fundamental stuff, stuff a college QB knows not to do. There are simply no excuses for it. As for scoring from inside the 10, you have to ask yourself, would Allen have had the Bills inside the 10 to begin with? To get down there Barkley threw a deep pass to Brown to convert a 3rd down. That was the first deep pass that came within 5 yards of a Bills WR all game. Maybe Josh gets them down there, maybe he doesn't. Maybe Josh and his clutch gene get the ball into the end zone in the 4th quarter, maybe he doesn't. Elway didn't complete every 4th quarter comeback, just because a QB has that ability doesn't mean it happens every time. What I do know is that Allen was horrible on Sunday. Everything else is just speculation. I don't get why people can't just say Allen was horrible, he was a huge reason the Bills lost (there is never a single reason, it's a team game) and still think he can be the franchise guy for the Bills moving forward. These aren't mutually exclusive ideas but it seems fans or so sensitive to the QB position that they fear giving an inch when someone questions their QB. -
Make the trade for Stephon Diggs
MDH replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We’ll never know because none of those throws were remotely close to being catchable. Yet somehow, despite this, it’s Zay who gets ripped instead of the QB who has repeatedly missed him. I don’t think Jones is a good WR but the hate he gets on this board is disproportionate to the mistakes he’s made this season. -
The real test for this team is this weekend
MDH replied to warrior9's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's an important game. With games on the horizon with Miami and Washington (which are as close to automatic win as you get in the NFL) this and the Eagles game are the only tough games in the 2nd quarter. Win this one and the Bills likely get to the halfway point with a 6-2 record at worst, and maybe even 7-1. -
I think he knew he was going for it on 4th and had Gore gotten closer to the goal line they'd have likely run him again on the next play.
-
The frustrating part is that if the Bills had an average offense, one that puts up 23 points a game and doesn't turn the ball over an inordinate amount of times , this would be a team that could challenge for the division title and be a legit SB contender because of the D. I'm hoping to see a lot of progress throughout the year, both from Allen and from the rebuilt offense to finally gel. Get it together by year's end and they might have to do it on the road, but they'll be a team nobody will want to play in the playoffs.
-
Yeah, that pissed me off as well. The difference between the 1 and the 2 is huge. I trust Gore plowing into the end zone from the 1, from the 2 with a stacked front it's asking a lot.
