  1. Yeah, but he's barely played G. I can't wait for the Ford at T experiment to end.
  2. Yep, Sanders was the best I've ever seen. And, unlike Emmitt, he didn't get the benefit of doing it behind an all time great OL.
  3. This game is one of the most important the Bills will play this season. The Titans are a competitor for a WC spot. Giving them an L and having the tiebreaker over them would be huge. If Allen is cleared there's no reason he shouldn't play.
  4. I'd like to run the ball a little more but mostly I'd like to see them get the RBs more involved in the passing game with screens. It acts as an extension of the run game and helps keep the D on their heels. Hopefully Singletary returns and both happen.
  5. I like Gore, always have, but him breaking records while with the Bills just doesn't excite me. If he had been with the team that majority or his career, or even 5 or so years I'd be excited. But a one year rental player doing it while with the Bills just doesn't get me revved up.
  6. Obviously the punt block was a huge difference, but that happened in the 1st quarter. The team had ample opportunity to overcome that mistake and failed to do so. A offense putting up 10 points isn't going to win often in this league. An offense that turns the ball over 4 times isn't going to win often in this league. It's not impossible (See: Jets) but it's a statistical anomaly. Josh took sacks on 3 different third downs that either put the Bills out of FG range or made the FG attempt more difficult. To me, these are bigger plays than the INTs in terms of the Bills winning or losing. The first one I wasn't egregious, he got blitzed and they got to him fast. Yeah, a QB is supposed to read the blitz, know where his outlet is and get rid of it but he's young, THIS is a young QBs mistake. The other two were just horrendous. He sat back in the pocket for 5-6 seconds and still took a sack. These decisions led directly to 3-6 points being taken off the board. This is fundamental stuff, stuff a college QB knows not to do. There are simply no excuses for it. As for scoring from inside the 10, you have to ask yourself, would Allen have had the Bills inside the 10 to begin with? To get down there Barkley threw a deep pass to Brown to convert a 3rd down. That was the first deep pass that came within 5 yards of a Bills WR all game. Maybe Josh gets them down there, maybe he doesn't. Maybe Josh and his clutch gene get the ball into the end zone in the 4th quarter, maybe he doesn't. Elway didn't complete every 4th quarter comeback, just because a QB has that ability doesn't mean it happens every time. What I do know is that Allen was horrible on Sunday. Everything else is just speculation. I don't get why people can't just say Allen was horrible, he was a huge reason the Bills lost (there is never a single reason, it's a team game) and still think he can be the franchise guy for the Bills moving forward. These aren't mutually exclusive ideas but it seems fans or so sensitive to the QB position that they fear giving an inch when someone questions their QB.
  7. We’ll never know because none of those throws were remotely close to being catchable. Yet somehow, despite this, it’s Zay who gets ripped instead of the QB who has repeatedly missed him. I don’t think Jones is a good WR but the hate he gets on this board is disproportionate to the mistakes he’s made this season.
  8. It's an important game. With games on the horizon with Miami and Washington (which are as close to automatic win as you get in the NFL) this and the Eagles game are the only tough games in the 2nd quarter. Win this one and the Bills likely get to the halfway point with a 6-2 record at worst, and maybe even 7-1.
  9. I think he knew he was going for it on 4th and had Gore gotten closer to the goal line they'd have likely run him again on the next play.
  10. The frustrating part is that if the Bills had an average offense, one that puts up 23 points a game and doesn't turn the ball over an inordinate amount of times , this would be a team that could challenge for the division title and be a legit SB contender because of the D. I'm hoping to see a lot of progress throughout the year, both from Allen and from the rebuilt offense to finally gel. Get it together by year's end and they might have to do it on the road, but they'll be a team nobody will want to play in the playoffs.
  11. I would have liked to have seen a couple of RB screen passes too. Not sure why that wasn't part of the plan to beat the blitz. If fans ran a team there would be no players left. Except Allen. He alone is allowed to have poor plays and poor days.
  12. Yeah, that pissed me off as well. The difference between the 1 and the 2 is huge. I trust Gore plowing into the end zone from the 1, from the 2 with a stacked front it's asking a lot.
  13. I don’t even know why coaches watch game film to evaluate players. It’s obviously much, much easier than they realize.
  14. I turn off any sports talk show that starts to take callers. I feel like it's a time filler for the host so they don't have to come prepared and the callers are rarely worth listening to.
  15. I'm going to have to go back and watch the game but I didn't think the OL was horrible yesterday. I could be wrong. From what I saw Allen had time to sit back and have a cup of coffee on many occasions. He was pressured when the D sent more than the OL could block but that's on Allen to read it and get rid of the ball. I just don't remember many times where the D rushed 4 and Allen didn't have enough time.
  16. Without one of the best defenses in the league Allen doesn't have the chance to win some of these games at the end. The Jets is a loss and probably the Bengals too. So if the Bills had an average D and the Bills were sitting at 1-3 would people blame Allen for poor ball security that costs the team wins? Allen does seem to have the "clutch gene" but he has got to have better ball security (both running and throwing) or he's not for long in this league. The defense won't always be able to bail him out and give him a shot at the end.
  17. How many fumbles, both lost and recovered, does Allen have? If we’re going to give him credit for his stats with his legs (and we should) then fumbles also become relevant. My biggest complaint about Allen is ball security. Both has a passer and a runner. He’s just careless, and you don't last long in the NFL, at any position, if you’re careless with the ball.
  18. What I’m looking forward to is Kroft and Knox on the field at the same time. It’s not an either/or thing. The less Smith is in the field the better.
  19. The problem is that with the exception of the final INT the Pats didn’t really “cause” those turnovers. Allen inexplicably kept throwing the ball up for grabs into double and triple coverage. If the Bills’ D got those turnovers I’d be happy about it but I’d be questioning the decision making of the QB more than congratulating my D for them. Allen also cost the Bills 6 by holding the ball for 5-6 seconds and taking sacks that either put them out of FG range or made the FG attempt longer. Bills make one of those FGs and they’re not going for it on 4th down inside the 5, they’re tying the game up at 16 with a chip shot FG. Make both of those FG and they’re kicking the go ahead FG. The Bills D was the best on the field today, easily. What’s more impressive, holding Brady and Co. to a TD and a FG or doing it to Josh Allen and 9 brand new starters on offense?
  20. That first holding call on Dawkins is inexcusable. It’s a free play, you don’t hold to protect your QB there as the refs are supposed to blow it dead if a player is coming in unabated to the QB. That penalty made me mad. The following one on Morse was kinda on Allen and kinda a bad call. Allen held the ball for 5-6 seconds on that play, you can’t expect the OL to hold off the D that long...except that was a totally ticky-tack call that had no impact on the play. Those are the types of calls the refs have been instructed not to call. But yeah, it might have been a different game had they picked up the first there. It’s tough to know what would have happened. The Bills crosses mid-field time and time again this game yet had little success putting points in the board.
  21. Oftentimes he doesn’t put enough air under it which allows his WR to run under the ball or adjust their route to accommodate a less than perfect throw. He just fires it down field like a bazooka. He doesn’t have to be Jeff Blake but damn Josh, put some air on those throws.
  22. I noticed the flag flying through the background while they were showing the replay of the hit. Immediately I knew it was going to be offsetting f’n penalties and the Bills were screwed in more ways than one. And yeah, he should have been ejected.
  23. It was also a PI, which you’ll sometimes get if the throw is catchable. And yeah, Barkley doesn’t have an average arm but he also understands his limitations. He’s not a good QB (or even a good backup IMO) but I think he’ll be fine for a single game.
  24. I don’t know if it’s asinine. Allen definitely needs to be in the field the moment he’s ready but with this D just not giving the other team the ball will generally be enough to win. Barkley can do that better than Allen at this point.
  25. It wasn’t lost on me that the first deep shot down the field was completed when Barkley lobbed one up and actually allowed a WR to make a play as opposed to overthrowing his target by 5 yards.
