I would love for you to be exactly right.
What your statement proves is that Football is a lot more than size and speed. Didn't we always know that though?
It would appear that there are many more players available in the draft and in FA that fit the 3-4 than those that fit the 4-3.
Buffalo is a tough sell for vets and free agents. The pool of players appears to be quite small that we ge to pick from.
So why do we play a 4-3 defense as our primary package?
Hardy will not be much help until at least 2010. Ralph Wilson Might not be here then. The Bills might not be here then. You and might not be here then.
I like Denny too. He is not a speed rusher but he is solid at DE or DT in some situaitons and His height makes him better against the pass that his 5 sacks would indicate.
I'll buy it except that you drefted Arron Maybin twice at 7 and again at 9. That makes one less choice to the Bills and my guess is that either Brown, Orakpo or Raj are gone. Brown and Orakpo are better fits in a 3-4 defense. My bet is that
Raj is the one who is drafted ahead of the Bills.
I think Maualauga will be there but the Bills will draft Cushing instead They will at least attempt a trade down.
Your analysis of the business side of the Bills is correct and there were many years with this franchise that I concurred completely.
But
We just may be in a new era. Assuming the Bills can hold thier own on Ticket and suite Sales and that is a big if.
Ralph Wilson's odds of surviving the next 5 years are less than 50-50. He is going to run out of time before he runs out of money even if we factor in a large estate for his heirs.
We will know a few day after the 28th of this month what Wilson's intentions are. I do not think it's about the money anymore.
Could be fun you build a waterfall in the stadium and every time the bills score the mascot gets in the Barrell and goes over the Falls - Fans go wild!.
You will know on February 28th I think it will be a quick strike kind of thing. It's not likely but possible
Ralph is in the Hall of fame and he never won the big one. That makes him a controversial selection. If he goes all out and wins one before he passes he puts an exclamation mark next to his name which is there for all time.
I have always been sort of a draftnik.
Niagara Bills is fine with me. No one in Boston seemed to have a problem with the New England Patriots.
whe used to be the Boston Patriots. They seemed to have done Ok. Not many of us live in Buffalo anyway.
Who was that Bald guy in Miami that palyed DE? I don' t think he carried a lot of weight. I saw him on Dancing with the stars. He was pretty good as pressuring the passer if I remember. No way he was over 260.
Well they may be better than the 05 team. The problem is relative strength in the division. Relative strength is the only test that counts.
They are not better relative to the other AFC East division teams. It is a very ugly situation to be in.
Right now if the Bills played every division team again I suspect a record of 0-3. Only dramatic off season moves will change that.
Our linemen do not seem to have any pop. I don't think they are big I don't think they are athletic enough or strong enough or conditioned enough maybe just too fat.
