If Jason Peters was a hardcore leader down in the dirt annimal of a lineman no doubt I would pay him top tackle money.
He is not. I too question his commttment to the game and to the Bills. Peters just may be the kind of player to take the bonus money and coast. I hate that he showed up out of shape last year.
He is not a guy that you are going to build a championship around. Off load him now while he has value. Use the picks and trade down strategies. A holdout would be the worst case. The OL needs time to gel get players who want to play and are hungry. Sacrafice a little talent for a lot of desire and motivation.
Terrific point OL is about the entire unit. When there is a huge disparity in compensaiton it's a problem ala Dockery and Peters.
New England and the Steelers have the formula down on this.
It should be a full roster OJ, Cookie, Thurman, Braxton deserve to make the team. Same goes for McDole, Sestak, Smith
Smerlas. Butler, Reed, Dubenion, Moulds, Evans. It goes on and on.
I saw every game that was a beautiful team. They would have given any team any time a run for their money. What a matchup Brown - Gilcrest would have been! Gogolak - Groza
Dubenion - Warfield. Kemp - Frank Ryan. The 20th century version of the Battle of Lake Erie.
The Bills were three deep everywhere! Lamonica was a much better passer than Kemp but lacked the conservative temperment favored by Saban. The great thing was when Lamonica had to come off the bench he completely changed the tempo of the game. He could run and he could throw it deep.
The game that Levy Coached and the game that Saban coached were very different. Just look at the number of assistant coaches now and the number in the Saban era.
Saban was a hands on coach. Levy was an administrator.
Both did a great job in Buffalo and both of them need to be on the wall.
Per this board Eric Wood C from Louisville will be there in the third. I would take him ahead of Coffman. There are other TE's in the 4th and 5 rounds that could meet our needs.
Unger can play any line position actually projects as a Tackle
Wood can start or act as depth at C or G.
I like drafting 3 linemen with our top three. picks.
This is probably true but my guess it was before TO signed with the Bills.
There is only one football and limited number of Offensive plays. look at the problem Dallas had with TO and the number of balls that were going to the TE. The bills will take a TE in this draft (somewhere) but I doubt Gonzo is coming here.
How about some OL and some Pass rush and another RB and some real LB' s. I am not worried about TE.
