As far as them reading it, of course they read it and the players read it too. It's about them they can't help but read it.

It's totally different the better comparison would be to a police officer and the military. In the military you have no obligation to retreat in fact it is just the opposite. Similarly a Police officer in the line of duty had no obligation to retreat. As a civilian If you are carrying a gun in NYS and you shoot someone who steals your car you will be tried as a criminal. The only defense and note you would be face an inquiry panel even though you are not the criminal was if you acted in fear of your life and you would be obligated to testify to a panel (similar to a grand jury i believe) someone can correct me if i am wrong on the jury part. that you were afraid you were going to be killed by the criminal. Then and only then can you use deadly force. You are not justified in shooting the perpetrator unless you are in fear of your life. You cannot use deadly force in NYS in defense of Property only in defense of yours or someone else's life. I do believe there is also something about preventing a rape as well. It is very complex and not very clear either. For example if you were being assulted and fired a weapon at the attacker Then the attacker turned his back to you and you fired again and killed him with the second shot. You would be on the defensive as to why you kept firing when the attack was over. I would suggest to you that if you are holding a semiautomatic pistol in your hand during a life or death encounter the line is real fuzzy as to when you cease fire. A firearms insturctor will tell you don't stop until the attacker is on the ground and defenseless. In NYS the law may tell you something else.

I have quite a few and a NYS pistol permit. I have been a hunter and a shooter all of my life. It is a major responsibility. You need to comit to learning how to use it properly and safely AND most importantly learning the law in NYS regarding using it in self defense which is more complex and restrictive in NYS than in many other states. If you do buy one make sure you have a secure place for it. I have a gun Safe. If the primary purpose is self defense research the law first then make your decision along with a committment to use it safely , effectively and legally. The issue is much more complex than just going out and buying a gun. Hopefully you will never have to shoot a human being with your weapon. If you do you probably will have saved your life and perhaps some others. You will have to say goodbye to most of you cash though. Your attroney will have that.

The interesting tidbit here is Max Unger. In a trade down scenario with Peters not resolved Unger makes a lot of sense. He plays every line position and his eventual home may be LT.

Would you trade Peters for Lions #1 pick?
Trader replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No and most teams would not. A top 10 pick is simply too expensive. An unmotivated player like Mike Williams can simply take the money and run. -
Freeney must have put on a lot of weight since college than I recall he was around 250.

Draft Britton

PFW Bills "desperately" want to avoid trading Peters
Trader replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like your thinking on this. I prefer to use the word "Firm". Offering a player a multi million dollar raise cannot be termed hardball. Hardball is telling him he has to play under the current contract. Whatever the case what happened last year is not acceptable. -

Despartely? a litte too strong of a word methinks. I do think it's 50 - 50. I think if someone offered them a one and a 2 or a one and a three they would be inclined. Whatever the case it needs to be done by training camp. We cannot be going into the season without the entire OL in Camp. It is the most important area of the team to get into sync. -
From the 60's Tom Sestak and Geroge Saimes. I know there are generations of Bills fans who have never seen these guys play. Check out the clips of Sestak and Saimes on the Buffalobills.com. Website. It also will give you a glimpse of the dominating nature of the Bills D in those days. Oh for the good old days!

We could but would that make the Bills a better team? Would Peters become more motivated to perform? Would he then play for the love of the game or strictly for the cash? He is what he is from a personality perspective. I think he is going to be moved by the Bills, I am not going to post on him anymore until he is moved because I think that we fans could influence some attitudes. His or others.

worse yet what if it was a DB. I do understand the logic. It's all about relative strength if you continue to make skill compromises based on your needs you build a team with second rate talent. The dogma assumes that the talent evaluators get it right. I think what really happens is the evaluators get it right within limits. What those limits are is debatabe. Maybe in this draft there are 7 elite players. Choices 8-13 maybe pretty equal and then 14 to 30. You have to have a blend of the two ideas. The next thing you need to consider is depth at the position. Lastl and not least is the fact that some positions are off the board quickly. You usually don't find great DE's in the third round but you might find a great QB. It is like a lot of the more complex things in life a blending of art and science.

He gave up 12 sacks last year. If that is the number one Tackle in Football then I will take the 5 th best and give me the picks.

I like Sidbury as well but I think he will go third round.
-
I am changing my opinion on Peters. I now think he is the best Left Tackle in the League. Because he is such a great player The Bills need Two first round picks to give him up. At the least a frist and a second this year and another 3rd maybe a 4 next year. If fact at minimum it should be a Lawrence Welk deal . You know a 1 an a 2 an a 3. Congrats to the front office on this one you turned a free agent pile of lard into a number one pick that is what I call leveraging your assets!

The one that tested at the Combine and played in the East West game or the Senior Bowl. I think he is from AZ. I believe there are two at AZ. This guy is 6' 6" . Rob I beleive he is the only one coming out this year. They were talking about him on the NFL channel on Sirius. Vic Carrucci has some comments about him and so was the Safety from Oregon.

Lobby your state legislators who are now in the process of making New York State not competitive for any private company or wealthy individual. An Idea for a new Tax you know they will just love it! Tax a sports franchise that moves out of state at 50% of it's value. Then apply that same rule to any citizen who moves out of the state at 50% of his net worth. It's the perfect solution to both problems. Tax the heck out of them when they are here but tax them more to leave!

Raji tested postive for drugs at combine...

Agreed -
Now that is a strategy. Peters needs to prove to me that he is worth 10 + million. I am not paying that kind of cash to someone who would hold out and violate his contract.
-
I would not draft Smith I do like the strategy though.
