  1. Do you mean that Trent is the number one pecker in the pecking order? I think that we will see plenty of all of our QB's before this season is over. I don't think that will be a good thing either.
  2. Edwards will be number one in the Pecking order. Edwards will start the pre season and several regular season games. The Offensive Line will be shaky the first few regular season games then hopefully they will improve. By mid season or sooner Edwards will likely be on IR as is his history. Brohm will be the QB by mid season.
  3. This guy will not take the money and run. He is playing for history!
  4. Please do. It occurred to me after a conversation with a friend who served with Kalsu that he belongs on our (Buffalo area) wall as well as the National one. He served in a local guard unit when he was called up and he did reside here during the time he played with the Bills.
  5. If Bob Kalsu the only known NFL player to be KIA in Vietnam is on the Buffalo area Vietnam Memorial Wall at the Naval and Serviceman's park at the Marina? I do know he was called up from a local unit and obviously lived here during his time of service but I have never looked for him on the wall.
  6. Who cares Lynch is headed for number 3 on the depth chart anyway.
  7. Assuming they really want Gaither, which has been reported but not confirmed. I can think of two reasons. One is that Gaither may be injured to the severity that he cannot pass the Bills physical at this time. The second reason is that the Bills would want to have an agreed upon framework of a contract with Gaither's agent in place before they trade for him. Of course they would need the Raven's permission to do this and I am sure it would be granted if a deal was in place.
  8. It's a bit of a stretch to think that Levi will become a Jim Kelly or even a Joe Ferguson. I do not think it's a stretch that he could become the next Frank Reich. I would be Ok with that for a round 7 pick. He is a long shot to become a franchise QB but according to your stats it would not be the first time!
  9. Why give up anything for Gaither? The Bills are not contending for a playoff spot this year, that should be very obvious to the objective fan if there is such a thing. Gaither will be a free agent next year his true market value will be known. There is not a need to give up a player or a draft pick for him. They are planning to start Edwards this year that should last a few games until he goes on IR. He will be followed by Fitzpatrick and Brohm. Perhaps Levi Brown will see a game or two at the end of the season.
  10. You have a good point in terms of game planning. I think Flutie would have been a great number 2 QB if he would have accepted that role. He would also have been outstanding out of the wildcat formation. He was a really good all around athlete. It would have been great to see him ten years later than he played.
  11. I have a bad feeling about Hardy and I really hope I am wrong. That being said David Nelson is my free Agent pick this year to make the team. Last year it was Jon Bell. I hope I do better with Nelson than with Bell!
  12. I don't know if Levi Brown will ever be the starter anywhere but there is something about him that reminds me of Joe Ferguson. With Spiller in the backfield doing the one cut and gone thing. If they can duplicate the Ferguson - OJ firepower happy days will return to the Bills! Those teams were only a defensive player or two away from winning the whole thing.
  13. I nominate Tom Cousineau
  14. If we have two receivers on the field at the same time named Nelson, would that be the "Ozzie Offense" Or the Ozzie and Harriett Offense?
  15. It is pretty clear that Nix and company are about developing players that will mature at the same time. The Bills are rebuilding. It's not about winning this season it is about developing a solid core of players that can win in the playoffs in 2-4 years. That is core as in core not core as in corps.
  16. Your right it is much easier to make it as an UDFA today than it was 40 years ago. The draft had 2 1/2 times more players in it than what chance did a UDFA have?
  17. How about Robert James Cornerback out of Fisk College (71). I was going to write Tom Sestak but he was a 17th round draft choice out of McNese State. That's right the draft used to be 17 rounds. That means that there are plenty of UDFA's who can play at the Pro Bowl level.
  18. In the early 60's we signed a guy named Jack Kemp because of a mistake San Diego Made. Correct me if I am wrong but it was a wily old guy named Harvey Johnson who did it (I think) Perhaps Nix is the second coming, Keep your fingers crossed!
  19. He is supposed to be ready before or during training camp. We will see.
  20. Apparently Washington has kept out of trouble for 7 years. There is no reason for a team that needs a LT not to sign him. I hope it is the Bills he appears to be the best and least costly option. Vick is playing in the NFL, Rothlesberger is, We have players who have killed innocent people while DWI. There are gunmen drug abusers and rapists in the league. Why not him?
  21. Wow, New defense, new blocking scheme equal big learning curve.
  22. They are going to have a high pick. I don' think Hardy or Eason will be ready to help them next year perhaps Johnson will. They may still be looking for number 2 WR. If that is the case they should try the FA market for one. Hopefully a LT (Bell or Wang or Levitri will develop if not they will need one. QB should be the number one priority next year if Edwards -Brohm Fitz do not pan out Levi Brown is at least 2 years away. If would be great if one or two needs get filled by developing players. I don't think its' realistic to hope for more that that. The biggest problem with the Bills right now is that our best strategy is "hope" . It's never been a great way to go.
  23. Be careful what you ask for. New England just had a huge draft with 4 picks in the first two rounds and 5 in the first 90 players chosen. Next year NE will have 4 picks in the first two rounds of the 2011 draft. Champion teams are built through the draft and the Bills will need two great drafts to match the talent in our own division. The Bills will need to out draft the AFC east to make the playoffs. I think the only chance the Bills will have this decade is to finish in the bottom 5 for two consecutive years. Jerry Sullivan has it right, they have to bottom out to get better. The number of wins in the next couple of years is far less important than the elevation of the talent base of this team. Winning 7 or 8 games just might doom them to mediocrity for a decade.
