If there is TRULY an open QB competition
Trader replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Each QB including Levi Brown will get plenty of reps before this season is over. Playing QB for the Bills is to football what point man is to combat patrol. Additional QB's might be needed off of other teams practice squads. -
People predicting the Bills record this year
Trader replied to JPicc2114's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
5 wins tops. I hope I have to eat crow. Any more than 6 wins and Gailey is coach of the year. -
I think Gailey spelled it out in his press conference after yesterday's practice. "... They have to protect". If that happens the running game will open up as well as the long and short passing games. Edwards will be at least adequate at QB. Gailey is happy with his receivers, he thinks they will continue to develop. The OL and the pass protection in general which is mostly the OL continues to be the major problem. I think if the Bills had two adequate tackles they could look at .500 ball maybe compete for a playoff spot. Without that happening the Bills are headed for a Ralph Wilson nightmare- a top 5 pick. It would be nice if Maybin becomes a good pass rusher but other guys might get it done if he falls short. The offensive pass protection is not negotiable though. This team will rise or fail on their ability to protect. Edwards seem to be getting it together but a serious pass rush will derail or worse sideline him or any other QB.

why I am not so worried about LT situation
Trader replied to PJBrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You got it right without better tackles you tight ends have to stay in to block, your offensive is thus handicapped. You are also limited to short pass routes which the D will sit on. Guys like Shawn Nelson are kept inside or on the bench. Either the Bills get better options at OT or it's top five Pick next year for sure. -
The Bills will not draft a QB in the first 5 picks unless he is the second coming of Peyton Manning. There is not a chance in Hell that the Bills will negotiate a 60 million dollar contract on a QB that has any chance at all of failure. I do not think that there will be any such QB in next years draft so I do not see them taking a QB number one unless someone surprises during the season. I do think they will take a QB in rounds 2-7 in next years draft unless one of our current crop has an outstanding season.

That works for me.

Cornell Green on his way to the locker room
Trader replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It appears the posters are just like to players. As camp wears on they get a little testy! Let's T it up and kick it off! -
Based on what we know right now I concur with T and QB, I would expand T to left and Right as a Priority 1.

Not a place they can afford an injury. -
Should we hope the bills lose games, like Jerry Sullivan said?
Trader replied to Hossage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No member of the Buffalo Bills organization should agree with Sullivan. Their job is to win games not throw them. As an objective third party which Sullivan should be as a member of the press he may be right. I personally hope that the Bills make the playoffs. One of our QB's would need to step up and become a franchise QB. In that case there is not a need for a first round pick. I do not believe that it will happen though. As a fan of the Buffalo Bills if they can't finish 10 and 6 then I want them to finish with 4 wins or less. -
Why the NFL wouuld need to be careful if it left Buffalo
Trader replied to Hplarrm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You hit the nail on the head wingman. The problem with Buffalo is that it's citizens have left Buffalo not the Bills are leaving Buffalo. It appears likely that the Bills just may follow the citizens out of town. If they do the NFL is not returning. Some other minor league might though. In the meantime I suggest all of the Bills fans back up their bets and buy some nice Bulls season tickets in addition to their Bills tickets. The current going price 90 dollars for the season. No pre season games either. The Bulls have been far more entertaining to watch in the last three years than the Bills have been. -
Mixed Feelings Regarding Schoebel
Trader replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They renegotiate their contracts to a lower price and they get traded for fair compensation to teams that want them and situations that they want to be in. There is communication between the front office and the players agents. In this case if any of that was discussed it was hidden from the fans including season ticket holders who are stakeholders in this franchise. I don't believe the Bills made any effort to communicate with Schobel or his agent. I know they certainly didn't communicate with the fans. I also note that the Bills did want Schobel and were more than willing to pay him eight million dollars to be here. -
1. There is a strong possibility that Lynch still gets traded. 2. Salaries can be renegotiated to facilitate trades. 3. Spiller and the Bills are not negotiating through the media but if the contract is not done by the end of next week you will see comments from Nix like - "We would like to see him here but were moving on with the players that are here"

This post has anything to do with the Buffalo Bills?

Mixed Feelings Regarding Schoebel
Trader replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am more concerned about the precedent that the Bills have set than I am about Schobel! It's not like Wilson to roll over like this. So any overpaid senior Bill who wants out gets waived? I also smell collusion between Houston and Schobel. It appears that Wilson wes more worried about the 2 million dollars than setting a dangerous precedent. This whole thing smells like a bad piece of fish to me. -
What a nice man Buddy Nix is and Ralph too! to Help out Houston like that and save the Schobels happy home. The last time the Bills were so generous they sent Darryl Lamonica to Oakland for three losers so that Oakland could win a Superbowl and save the AFC. Choke me with a spoon please.

One word sums it up: inept
-
I was going to start a similar themed thread on this but you beat me to it. I do not think the Bills will draft a QB in the top five next year even if they have the opportunity. The reasons are: They will not pay huge dollars for an unproven rookie QB. Even if they do draft one the Bills track record is that they would not sign him until training camp is almost over making his rookie year a total waste. The Bills with a top five pick = complete nightmare.

If This Is A Learning Year For Bills (which is fine)
Trader replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Offensive Tackles not good enough. -
The Bills are going to hold firm it would be foolish to let a player hold out and benefit from it by becoming a free agent.
-
I absolutely hate the red helmets! They were Joe Ferguson's worst Idea. I do like Joe though!

Another tackle possibility bites the dust.
Trader replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really. -
Put me in the camp that thinks he is done as a Bill. This makes it easier to trade him.
-
Agreed. The Bills will be better but at this stage it appears that the have lost ground to their competitors in the AFC.

Good luck in your career John. You helped the Bills in a time of need. I hope you have great memories of your NFL career. You will have great stories to tell your players and your children. Best of luck to you!
