Carucci: Bills GM Nix likes Cam Newton "a great deal"
Trader replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am with Buddy Nix on this and if Newton checks out at the combine and after interviews he will be a top 5 pick. Newton could go overall number one. Does that mean that the Bills should draft him if he is available at 3? Not necessarily, what could they get for the pick? what if someone else wants him bad? Cam Newton's rise up the board is nothing but great news for the Bills. Newton is a supremely gifted football player. He will not have any problem with the physical aspect of the pro transition. Not worried at all about his drops, not worried at all about his throwing motion, Strength or accuracy. Not worried about his leadership either. Newton is such a good athlete that he will learn it all if his is motivated to do so. The only questions on Newton should be: 1. Motivation, will the big bucks spoil him? 2. can he read defenses and react to the speed of the pro game? This is an issue for every QB out of college including Andrew Luck. It is not something you can measure with the wonderlic or any other known test either. 3. Is his coachable? I think his work up through media day has at least partially answered this in the affirmative. If they want Newton they need to spend some time with him. If they are satisfied after that then go do it. -
I am a Newtonian! Maybe at QB Maybe a TE depending on how hard he hits the Books and film room.

How far are we from GB? do we need a QB?
Trader replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is amazing is that a few years ago the Bills and the Pack were in almost exactly the same position. I do believe that the Bills tried to hire Max but lost out to the better organization. -
I would have rather had Starks because this is Buffalo and you need a tough inside runner who can move the pile and Starks shows flashes of that. He will also get bigger and better.

Super Bowl XXV - Wide Right - It ain't hooking
Trader replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I enjoyed the entire Buffalo News story on the Bills first Super Bowl. The truth is the Bills were outplayed by a more determined, tougher, better coached team. Kelly as great as he is was below average to terrible in all of the Bills super bowl appearances. Their defense was just not good enough in any of them. The Super Bowl loss was so not about Norwood's miss. -
need some input about quinn and taylor
Trader replied to swnybillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nix has stated that he will avoid one year wonder type players. Quinn is certainly in that category and his wonderful year was not even this one. Unless Nix changes his philosophy or has it changed for him, we won't be drafting Quinn. -
I'll take Miller. Quinn has not played in a long time. He would have to light up the combine to be drafted at #3. I am thinking that a very good offensive tackle prospect might drop to us in the second round. The Ot's did not do well at the senior bowl. If not a right tackle in the second then another linebacker.

One thing you cannot really criticize Gailey for are his practices. I have watched them in the company of other highly respected local coaches and he gets high marks from them. Gailey coaches fundamentals very well. His practices are classic.

Yep I am shocked that the North Offensive line did not preform better than they did. That line was loaded with talent. I know that Carmini pulled out of the game at the last minute but they still had a lot of talent there.
-
As a Personnel man I certainly understand why he would want to compare Cam Jordan with Bowers or jj Watt. I do think it should be for seniors though.
-
I am a Moffit fan as well but he played with Carmini not Costanzo. Any on of the three could start for the Bills. This is the best commentary I have seen on the Senior Bowl!. Thank you! What would you think of the Bills taking Cam Jordan with their first pick?

the Bills gameplan for the franchise?
Trader replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps Buddy Nix can share his,"vision" with the fans? I heard Gil Brandt say once that there are only a half a dozen teams that have a plan when it comes to the draft. He went on to say that they are looking for a type of player who fits their system. That player might or might not be the most talented player on the board. Those teams wind up on top more often than not. -
He is making some adjustments to his throwing motion. Let's see how he does at the game and in the combine.
-
The Bills have a huge need at DE for the 3-4 or the 4-3. Jordan can go either way. I actually like him or JJ Watt, or Cam Heyward (Ohio State). Actually I will be satisfied if the Bills draft anyone with the first name of Cameron.

The Difference Between Ben Roethlisberger & Cam Newton
Trader replied to BiggieScooby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Newton played in college in the SEC. Rothlesberger in the MAC. I watched Rothlesberger in College. Rothlesberger was an outstanding runner in College. I would suggest to you that the year Newton had in the SEC and the BCS championship was far superior to what Ben accomplished in the MAC. I would love to have either CAM or BEN in Buffalo. -
You have it right. It starts at the Top. Who will be in the Superbowl? The Steelers and the Packers, two wonderful organizations. The playoff participants? the Patriots, Ravens, Bears, Falcons, Colts. Excellent classy organizations who make good decisions more often than not.

FA attempts to fix problems at OLB and RT
Trader replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They still need a RT and there should be one in the draft. There are plenty of RT candidates in this draft who should be available in early and late rounds. Shame on the Bills if they do not get one or two of them! -
Players we should have drafted
Trader replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The people who do the Bill's drafting seem to be hell bent on finding diamonds in the rough. Finding diamonds is great at pick 4-7 and free agency but for pick 1-3 it's pretty obvious as to who the best players are. -
Tom Gollisano buys them and moves the Raiders to Niagara Falls.

1. A defensive lineman who can line up as a 3 -4 DE , Set the Edge and rush the passer. 2. A Right Tackle who can make the running game go. 3. A thumper linebacker. One who would be in prison if he was not an athlete. 4. A really good TE who can Catch create a mis match and block well on the run. 5. Assume Whitner is gone a safety who can put fear into WR's 6. A QB to develop to back up Fitz. A Dalton or McElroy type. Perhaps even a Steve Young. This is assuming they do not draft Newton with their first 7. A big running back Like Starks or Clay from Wisconsin. I think next year you will see Starks at 220-225 and he will be a load. I do not necessarily think this is the order or who we should draft but somehow this is what the priorities should be. 8. A corner who can cover - do you ever have enough of those?

I like Draft B or C

AJ Green is available when the Bills Pick....
Trader replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Re: Revis vrs. Green. Rock breaks siccors that is why you don't draft Green to beat the Revis equipped Jets. Also let's check Green's weight at the combine, if he does weigh 212 he must have lead in his thigh pads. He looks like a twig. -
The guy who shot the congresswoman and holding up a 7-11 are two very different crimes. the murderer could have driven his SUV into the crowd at the supermarket even without a bomb in it and killed as many or more people. Perhaps we need to think about how we let criminally insane people walk the streets (Thank you ACLU) or the kinds of programming and video games our children and teens are bombarded with. I am constantly appalled at the way firearms are misused in such media. If you want to repeal the second ammendment over the violence I would suggest to you that the first amendment would have the greater impact.
