  1. "He floats too much, .... He does not make plays away from his area of responsibliity.... He takes plays off. Let me suggest this. He is diciplined and he stays where he belongs fitting in the gaps he is supposed to be in - your right he is where he is supposed to be. Also if you notice in the BCS game Upshaw make most of his tackles in the first half. They ran away from him the rest of the game. He stayed home there was no need to roam around. the rest of the Bama D was doing just fine. I am not sure what floating too much means, perhaps you could be more specific as to what you saw? I did notice in the second half when the play was away from him he was standing at the end several time but I am not sure what his assignment was. When the overall D is playing that well it's hard to tell.
  2. ... Against the pass. 28th against the run. 30th in scoring. It's about more than the pass rush folks they need multiple players on D. Not just a situational player or a pass rusher. 467 rushes for 4.8 yards per rush. 321 passes for 7.7 yards per pass. That means a lot of 2nd and 5's and thirds and shorts. Not many sacks are generated on third and three or less.
  3. I don't think Upshaw will slide out of the top ten-twelve picks.
  4. Kirkpatrick will not be drafted by the Bills unless he drops to the third round.
  5. 6' 1" 221 is pretty big unless you ment 212. He is not exceptionally tall but He would be pretty close to an H back. If he can carry another 10 lbs he could be a Hernandez style H back.
  6. Lofton is the guy I wold want for receivers coach. I would like Reich as QB coach. I like Lofton as WR receiver coach as well, I do see how a QB could help WR's though. Reich was a huge help to Kelly when they played together. I do think he is a very good coach.
  7. Upshaw can go 3-4 or 4-3. He plays run and pass. What's not to like. This reminds me of last year, remember J.J. Watt was not rated in the top 5 but he turned out to be every bit as good as Darius in the long run. The group at the 10-18th pick this year is too close to diffentiate at this stage, who is the BPA? it depends on what the team is trying to do.
  8. I want our QB to get the 4-5 seconds these guys are getting instead of 1.5. the answer is yes. I would also like to see Spiller and Jackson with some gaping holes to run through. I am still leaning twoard Upshaw though. He is a complete player who can play run pass every defensive down. He also gives an Alabama personality to the D with Darius being here. Depends on who is there for us. I don't want to reach and I do not think Upshaw is reaching at all.
  9. I think every good team needs 2-3 very good receivers if one or 2 of them were TE's (New England) so be it. If you have a couple of very good big wide receivers you might get away with not having a great TE. It does appear that in the playoffs this year we have seen teams with very good TE's. I would place equal value on guys like Gronk, Vernon Davis, Finley, and Graham with any Wide receiver.
  10. New Orleans pass protection!!! put a stopwatch on Brees he has 3-4 seconds to throw every time.
  11. Right now Upshaw is my pick. I think his leadership ability and his overall defensive ability are outstanding. He is not a pure pass rusher but he is a good pass rusher and he is also very good against the run. The reason that the Bills do not have sacks is that they are constantly in 3rd and short situations because they cannot stop the run.
  12. I agree with you by the way I just checked the Bleecher report and Dre Kirkpatrick is on their overated 2012 draft pick list. "Too stiff in the hips, product of the system at Alabama". Kiper also does not have him in the top 10. On the other hand McShay does.
  13. I like him a lot. He was dominant in the first half against LSU. Not so much in the second half, mostly because LSU ran away from him or doubled him. I also think that Upshaw will rise on the draft board. I do think he is stout enough to pley either LB or DE. The rap on him is that he is not super fast and is a little short at 6'2" for a DE but there are plenty of NFL guys playing at a high level at that height. He looks a little chubby at 265. I beleive he could lean out a little and play at about 260 and be a terror. He is a low risk pick, A top player on the best team, in the top conference in the country.
  14. You will get no arguement here that the Bills need help at corner. I do think Kirkpatrick has a solid future in the NFL. I just do not see him as being ready to help this team next year. I would not mind him in round 2 either although I doubt he will be there. I do think they need to draft OT, a front 7 defensive player or a WR number at number 10 or trade out of the position. If all else fails and Kirkpatrick is the BPA they should take him but I would hate the pick.
  15. Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama. He does not look NFL ready to me. Kind of a thin lanky body. He did not tackle well against LSU. He had a great play on Special teams during the championship game but he looks like a guy who would spend his first two seasons on IR to me. I do think he will be a very goood nfl player .. Someday.
  16. there is racisim in the world. sports are in the world there is racisim in sports That being said if you are looking for places to break down barriers, your a little late with this one.
  17. He puts his hand on the ground most a lot. I don't think he can get much bigger and I don't think he has to to play DE.
  18. Buffalo has always been a hard sell but when the Bills were winning and had stability at the top guys like Kelley, Bennet and Lofton did come here and they will again. Great coaches and GM's believe that there will be an ownership change here during the next few years. A new group would likely bring in a new coaching staff. There is a preceived Lack of stability. Would you change jobs and move accross the country if you thought your company was going to have a new management team in the next year or so?
  19. Upshaw improved his stock last night. One of the best players in the best conference on the best team in the country. Those are strong credentials. I watched him as closely as I could last night. He was on almost every tackle in the first quarter. They were double teaming him and running away from his side most of the rest of the game. He really sets the edge against the run. One of the reasons the Bills pass rush is so bad is that they seldom force third and long. A better run defense will help their pass rush.
  20. You need two TE's Chandler is fine for one of them.
  21. There are going tyo be multiple options at # 10. The best player who fits the system may be Kirkpatrick (CB), or an OT, or a WR or a DE. I would hope that they go with a DE or a OT but if Kirkpatrick is a pro bowl lock down corner who is head and shoulders above the other options then go for it.
  22. Comments on Bell were most enlightening. My understanding was that they are not going to back up the truck for him. His injury history is a problem and will factor into negotiations. I think they will try harder for Stevie than for Bell. I suspect that Bell may leave because once free agency starts the Bills are in no better position with a player like Bell than any other team. Signing or no signing they will add a Tackle.
  23. Don't worry Tannehill is gone before our pick.
  24. If the Bills actually drafted those players it would be the best draft in the Bills history. I do not think most of those players will be there.
  25. If he signs with New England I will need a rope and a chair. Watching Gronk and Stevie beat us like a drum year in and year out will be more than I can bear.
