What is going to be your form of protest?
Kelso_Helmet replied to Shanahan's Horseshoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Indeedy. So I reckon that's the move for those of us feeling like malcontents. Load up the message boards, vote on ESPN polls that put Jauron's approval rating at 12%, call sports radio shows, send e-mails to Bill Simmons, whatever. Put a paper bag over your head and boo during the game, hold up signs on national TV during games calling for Jauron to go. A full stadium full of angry, booing fans says more than an empty one. The power of the purse is limited in this case, since the purse can be filled shortly thereafter with Canadian Dollars. Ralph has us by the short curlies. Like the Stork so eloquently said in Animal House... "What the hell we s'pose to do, ya moron?" -
What is going to be your form of protest?
Kelso_Helmet replied to Shanahan's Horseshoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe "protest" is the word getting us wrapped around the axle ...not like we're taking to the streets for the liberation of Tibet or to save Darfur, so keeping Skeletor as head coach of the Bills is certainly not as big a deal in the grand scheme of things and having a winning football team is by no means a basic human right. But, in my opinion, it is by all means appropriate to voice some sort of displeasure here....sort of like booing during a game. I don't think it's irrational for Bills fans, who have more heart and loyalty than any NFL fanbase, to feel slighted by Jauron coming back. The start of the incremental move to Toronto was the first kick to the nuts this season and this is a pretty crappy follow-on. I wouldn't classify someone who wants to corner Ralph and scream "wtf?!?!" in his mug as a whiny B word. Yeah, I'll be honest, I threw around the "if they keep this guy at head coach, i'll go root for some other team" comments, knowing full well that since I've been here from Ferguson and Cribbs through Kay Stephenson and Speedy Neal through Levy, Kelly and Bruce and now back down to yet another helping of Dick Jauron...and I'll just keep on torturing myself in hopes of a miraculous payoff some day. But that doesn't mean that I can't be a bit dismayed by what feels like Mr. Wilson taking Bills fans for granted and my wanting to make sure he gets the message. All of us walking away from the team essentially expedites their relocation north or west. Following the Bills, regardless of their record, has brought me a lot of enjoyment over the years..even this season had its ups and downs. Do I want to just walk away from it? So I'm not sure what the best means of voicing displeasure is without cutting off my schnozola to spite my face.... Damn...this really blows -
How Many Games did Jauron Cost this Year
Kelso_Helmet replied to DFITZ1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Quoting Leo Roth from the Rochester D/C "...A good coach can win a team one or two extra games. But a bad coach unable to react can cost a team three or four wins. What happens Monday through Saturday isn't as important as what happens during those three highly emotional, intense hours on Sunday...." Jauron falls in the latter category -
how about james lofton as the next bills coach?

Baby steps. Yeah, the step backward that was the Jauron regime was painful But the prospect watching this team fall short of the playoff next year, yet show progress? This has been the MOST frustrating season ever as a Bills fan. It's one thing to watch players not make plays...but it's another to watch a coaching staff like Jauron's continue to sh*t the bed. I'll take being in recovery mode over watching this disaster continue to play out. -

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Kelso_Helmet replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i basically agree and perhaps did not put enough emphasis on your point. When I said "There'll still be players available who can contribute wherever we draft" I should have clarified that if we have an organization that knows how to evaluate talent, then yes...it minimizes the unpredictability of the draft. I dunno if every single one of the 1st rounders for those teams you mentioned has panned out, but i don't think being in a position to get a "can't miss" 1st rounder is a greater imperative for the Bills right now than finding ways for the players they have and will likely be here next year to beat the Patriots. I don't see it as morale boost exclusively- the muscle memory associated with winning is a key part of player development...even winning games post-mathematical elimination. But yes, knowing how to evaluate all the talent on the board on draft day is important as well. -
good old "Red Zone" Rolle....

Maybe he's not a Gonzalez, Gates, Whitten, or Cooley, but damn Boss is a clutch player. Even if Hardy never steps up next year, a WR corps of Evans, Stevie J, and Parrish with a TE to run short routes and be the hot read would make such a difference on the Bills. All the hype about how good Royal looked in camp....ugh...what I would give to have a Jay Riemersma or Pete Metzelaars on this team....

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Kelso_Helmet replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen, man. Draft picks are a crap shoot. You build a team by winning games - a solid game next week to beat the Pats would go further towards improving this team than sliding up a few draft spots. And even if they suck ass, there's no guarantee that it will result in skeletor getting the pink slip. There'll still be players available who can contribute wherever we draft. Next week is the Bills' Superbowl and will allow them to exit the season feeling as if they're the young team that the started 5-1 and showed promise, or the team that went 0 for the AFC East - essentially like the joke team that that everyone's alma mater wants to schedule for homecoming weekend.... hopefully the game is approached with real intensity and focus. -
