  1. I've rode pretty much my whole life and the best bike ever made for touring is the new Can-Am Spyder. That thing is everything motorcycles ever wanted to be without the downsides.
  2. Getting a third of the purse all but assures you're going to get plenty of attention.
  3. The nicest part about the BILLS having potential HC candidates on their staff is that there are potential HC candidates on the staff. That means the new ownership is doing something that Ralph was the worst at: spending money on coaching talent.
  4. That's the government for you. When I was in the military we had a civilian that had like 35 years in. Took sick leave every Friday for over 2 years. When he finally ran out, he retired.
  5. 1. New playbook. 2. New offensive coordinator. 3. New head coach. 4. 10 practices. 5. 3 of the QBs have very limited NFL experience and the fourth is the definition of journeyman. 6. Facing one of the NFL's elite defenses. 7. Most difficult position in sports to master. 8. JUNE.
  6. I'm not sure those things correlate very much. Hockey is an expensive sport and it's not likely going to grow much more in areas where it doesn't already exist. It makes sense in California because of the sheer number of very wealthy people concentrated in pockets throughout the state. I'm not sure that wave is going to go much further. I've always felt like the explosion of lacrosse has helped hockey more than anything because the skill sets and game play between the two are so similar.
  7. More popular=higher percentage of mouth breather fans. It's already frustrating enough to tell people who are there "because it's an event that people are talking about" to keep their dumb asses in their seats until a whistle (to give one very obvious example). Hockey already sells enough seats and every game is televised. There isn't a single reason to increase its popularity, other than to drive up the price to get into a game and make old rich guys even richer. The last thing the game needs is to totally price the average fan out of the building and we're already on our way to that in too many markets.
  8. There wouldn't be anything worse than for hockey to evolve beyond a niche sport. It's great just the way it is.
  9. I got invited to a seventh grade graduation. Really? Congrats on accomplishing something literally every person who has survived to that age has done.
  10. They have some similarities in their games (heavy shot, great hands) but Eichel is very far ahead of where Stamkos was at the same age. Much bigger, better overall athlete, more physical, better skater, better ice vision and passing. Stamkos has obviously developed very well and is now a much more complete player, especially physically.
  11. So if players don't win championships they can be great but a coach who doesn't win (but doesn't actually play or have any real control over the final outcome) can't? What if a coach draws up the perfect play in a Championship situation and the players blow the play by falling down before they score or miss the gimme dunk? In Greggy's world that means that coach isn't great. Yet my calling Bird a great NBA coach is "subjective?" You're so full of ****. Bird took a team with at best slightly above average talent and elevated them to heights they'd never gotten to in a very short time period.. I don't give a crap if your daddy says greatness is only measured by rings. It just means he's full of **** too.
  12. I look at greatness differently than the rest of the mouth breathers. If Larry Bird had been coaching the teams his teams had lost to in the playoffs, he would have rings. Would Phil Jackson have beaten Larry Bird if the two switched places? No !@#$ing way and the results are likely more skewed toward the more talented team. Shaq and Kobe in their primes against aging Mark Jackson, Reggie Miller, and Rick Smits? Please. I don't consider Marv Levy a great coach because I believe Joe Gibbs, Jimmie Johnson, and Bill Parcells all win Super Bowls with the BILLS against their respective teams with Levy at the helm. Donnie Walsh, who has forgotten more about basketball than all but a handful of people on this planet know, said Bird was the best manager of a team that he's ever seen. That holds more weight than you trying to displace shoving your leg down your gullet.
  13. So taking 3 straight teams to a level clearly beyond their talent is "middling" but if he'd won a title he'd have been great. Gotcha.
  14. You did a pretty ****ty job making it by calling a guy who was clearly a very good (or better) NBA coach "middling".
  15. You don't win a ring in the NBA without an elite player. The Pacers didn't have one. The fact that he got them as far as he did every year without a single player averaging even 20 points is a testimonial to his coaching ability. He had three years on his resume because that's what he signed up for. He told everyone he'd coach 3 seasons and that's what he did. He took a team that hadn't done anything since their ABA days and took them to the brink of their first NBA title with teams that clearly weren't at the top of the heap talent wise. You can use the championship thing to say he isn't great (which seems astoundingly stupid coming from a BILLS fan) but saying he was "middling at best" is !@#$ing retarded.
  16. Anyone who gets caught up in bench press numbers doesn't understand hockey. Patrick Kane couldn't bench press a bag of M&Ms 10 times and he's one of the best players in the world. Hockey isn't football.
  17. Uh...Wrong. Bird was a great NBA coach. His regular season winning percentage was nearly .690. His first season the Pacers had their best ever regular season record (at that time) and he was named Coach of the Year. He also took his last team to the NBA Finals without a true superstar but they lost to the Shaq/Kobe Lakers. 2 Division Titles, 3 Eastern Conference Finals appearances, and one NBA Final in 3 seasons. If that's middling, sign me up. The idea that Fred was somehow involved in Lynch playing poorly or Spiller being unable to hit the holes or block better than a pylon is !@#$ing hysterical.
  18. Until GWB was President, a good portion of the military junior enlisted population was in exactly the same boat - especially if they had kids. We're heading back down that road again. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/19/food-stamps-military_n_3462465.html http://money.cnn.com/2014/02/17/news/economy/military-food-stamps/
  19. It's known as the "Derek Roy Drill" named for the player who set the record during the combine.
  20. In the urban dictionary next to dickhead is this guy's mugshot.
  21. They have fatheads now, which kick the crap outta posters.
