  1. NBC is run by idiots. Australia and Spain are playing a pretty epic Bronze medal game in men's hoop but they're airing that garbage on the main network.
  2. The NHL doesn't work like the NFL. Vesey's contract is the same as Eichel's, just shorter because he's older.
  3. The athletes have put on quite a show. The Americans have been ridiculously dominant. The strategy of putting money into the home country's athletic clubs so we can train there appears to have really paid off.
  4. He signed the max entry level deal for a free agent. $925k with performance incentives up to $2.85m. Same deal every team offered him.
  5. The point was "if he sucks he'll regret his decision". How many companies are going to line up to get endorsements from a struggling hockey player? I doubt anyone in NYC is currently lining up to get endorsements from Jimmy Vesey.
  6. His takedown defense was decent in this fight, though Diaz isn't known for his ability to actually put anyone on the ground. Diaz is clearly not a very strong guy, which is the biggest reason he couldn't finish his takedowns. I don't know why you think the quick takedown wouldn't have lasted. McGregor is still terrible on the ground and Diaz very quickly transitioned past his guard and was feeding him. CM is in DEEP trouble against anyone with any kind of ground game, especially if the fight goes beyond the two rounds he can actually fight. He's lucky that takedown didn't happen a minute earlier because he'd have had to spend another 5 and a half months making excuses. He should be embarrassed that once again he was so tired by late in the second round he was turning his back and running to avoid getting hit.
  7. The Original Six thing is so overplayed. The Rangers are very clearly trending downward, especially when you consider Lundqvist is going to be 35 before the playoffs start next year. The Sabres are very clearly trending the opposite direction. The reason his decision to play in NYC will be a bad one is all based on money. Someone making $1M in Buffalo is wealthy and will have plenty of extra scratch to invest/set themselves up for life. Someone making $1M in NYC isn't wealthy and won't have as much disposable cash to setup their future. It's as simple as that.
  8. They have precisely one more Cup than Buffalo since the Sabres have been in the NHL. I'm not surprised he chose them but he better perform because if he doesn't it's going to end up being the worst decision of his life.
  9. Extortion is apparently a good thing when it involves charity.
  10. Dude is incredible. The US swim program is ridiculous. The women gymnasts are even better.
  11. Letting him retire? As if they had a choice? No team in the league would take on that horrible contract. His press conference was as disingenuous as everything else he's ever done. So long, AFraud. I hate all of them too. He's a !@#$ing dick.
  12. Signing a petition to get rid of Jerry Sullivan seems counter productive because it would imply that people read his drivel. I think just about the right number of people have spent the time on that website. Sullivan sucks and it's pathetic that he's still employed.
  13. For the life of me I don't understand why the Olympics can't adjust and give the games to an entire COUNTRY instead of a single city. There are dozens of countries with the required infrastructure to host the games and it wouldn't cost taxpayers gazillions of dollars for little long term gain. For example, the US could host the games and literally have events in a dozen different cities. LA could have track and field, Miami could have swimming, multiple cities could host soccer games, etc. The only thing that would really be up for grabs are the opening/closing ceremonies, which are mostly horsecrap anyway.
  14. Vice is great. I enjoy the documentaries. So far my favorite has been the rivalry between Red Star and Partizan. It's called the "Eternal Derby" and it's ridiculous. https://youtu.be/62qvynxpddc
  15. Lawler's run was longer than it probably should have been. He's a warrior but he takes too many shots. It was a matter of time before someone got him.
  16. If Holm is slow, imagine how Rousey is going to look...
  17. Great observation. He was the original Marty Schottenheimer and his teams always came up short in the post season. He had huge balls, trading away John Hadl for a king's ransome (the first "Herschel Walker" type trade) to start James Harris.
  18. There is literally nothing positive that comes out of releasing your board. The negative scrutiny that would come with it from the fans coupled with good teams losing their tactical advantage far outweigh any positives.
  19. He should get it too. I can't stand Lesnar, which probably skews my judgement.
