  1. We just traded two first rounders, a fourth, and a sixth for EJ Gaines and a second. That looks brilliant on paper, right?
  2. If I were Mittlestadt, I wouldn't entertain signing a contract and playing even part of a season in the AHL. That's a pretty big gamble.
  3. The Pro/Con is to get through your ELC as quickly as possible so you can get to your second, less limited contract. ELCs for players like Mittlestadt will work like this: 1. Maximum Salary: $925K 2. Maximum Signing Bonus: $92.5k 3. Maximum "Schedule A" Performance Bonus (Top Six on the team in ice time, +/- rating, goals, etc): $850K 4. Maximum "Schedule B" Performance Bonus (NHL Awards, Finishing in the Top 10 in specific categories, etc.): $2,000,000.00 So theoretically a player on an ELC can make $3,775,000.00 It is a distinct possibility that Mittlestadt could join the Sabres towards the end of the season if they make the playoffs this year but I think it's more likely that it happens for a playoff run NEXT season. I think he has the lower body to compete in the NHL right now but he definitely needs to add 15-20 pounds of solid muscle mass up top. He'd get slaughtered on the walls in the NHL and wouldn't be able to regularly get to the dirty areas around the net. It's no secret that NHL owners like TP will pay for production. There's a reason we're trying to lock up Jack long term after only two seasons on his ELC - the price is likely only going to go up. It's all but guaranteed that CM never plays a shift in Rochester.
  4. The next time I see a pull up bar on an ice hockey rink will be the first time. Mittlestadt is the reverse "Mike Mamula". Kid is definitely a hockey player.
  5. Manuel is a crippled homeless man's Charlie Batch. Anyone who watches college football KNEW he wasn't ever going to be a productive NFL QB on a playoff team. I still can't believe we wasted a first on the guy.
  6. 1. Technology will always be outdated a couple years down the road. 2. The Linksys router you've linked will be fine for your requirements. 3. It's impossible to say whether you'll need a range extender without knowing your home layout and/or where in the house your router will be located. 4. Most of the "whiz bang" stuff in routers doesn't really make much difference. 5. More processors are pretty much always better, even if it's just minimal gain. It always comes down to price. 6. Computer hardware isn't much different than vehicles. You have to do preventative maintenance (software/firmware updates) regularly to get the best performance.
  7. Astro, as always thanks for the reporting. I have a couple of questions: 1. Is the pace of practice significantly different than year's past under different staffs? 2. Do the BILLS seem to be doing drills they've never done before or just pretty much the same old stuff? 3. Are there more situational football drills? It's probably a little early in camp for that but it's something to keep an eye on as the roster shrinks.
  8. Woodley fought that fight the way he had to. Maia has no real standup game to speak of and Woodley would have been stupid to fight Maia's fight. These single discipline BJJ fighters are terrible to watch. Royce Gracie was friggin' almost 25 years ago. The sport has evolved. The UFC really screwed up not making the Cerrone/Lawler fight at least a co-main event so it could be five rounds. The judges could have picked Cerrone as the winner and I wouldn't have disputed that either. That was close. Cyborg is a man.
  9. You left out: 1a. Coaching and system to maximize the current talent.
  10. I have a new understanding of the song "Muskrat Love."
  11. Or he could have been a grown ass man and read a couple of books or spent a day or two reading about basic personal finances. Dude could have put 10% of his earnings in an Index Fund and been set for life. Instead he took less than 15 years to burn through about 20x what the average person makes in their lifetime. Yeah, poor him.

  13. What would NYS' finances look like without Wall Street. Talk about a politician's wet dream. Congratulations on missing the point.
  14. Murray's worst deal was Bylsma, who refused to adapt to the players he had and literally got the worst out of just about everyone. This team isn't anywhere near as far away as people think. If they can stay healthy, they'll make it this season and be a tough out.
  15. Wow. That's a lot of jack for a guy who turns 38 in September.
  16. Hendricks was one of the smartest players in NFL history. A true difference maker in every facet of the game.
  17. Former Browns' GM and guy Bill Belichick said was "One of the smartest guys I've ever worked with." Interview: http://media.blubrry.com/hardline_stl/insidestl.mc.tritondigital.com/THE_LINE_CHANGE_P/media/062817-4HL.mp3 Story: https://theringer.com/los-angeles-rams-sean-mcvay-stan-kroenke-63646f1f2df2 So many tidbits about the Rams and loser franchises that apply to what we've been watching for the last 17 years.
  18. I love when people get up in arms about day 2 picks in the NHL. The hit rate is ridiculously low because you're picking teenagers and trying to make an educated guess on whether or not they're willing to put in the work to be one of the 600 or so best players in the world. Day 2 picks in the NHL rarely take less than 3 or 4 season to even break into the league. It's generally an even longer period before they make an impact.
  19. You're making a semantics argument but we agree on what his game currently lacks. The time you have to make a decision (especially for defensemen) in the NHL is exponentially shorter than it is at any other level of the game. The great ones (think Niklas Lidstrom) make very few mental mistakes and rarely ever throw a big hit.
  20. There's little chance he's going to be traded, so at this point the Sabres need to do their best to help him get better.
  21. While that statement has some truth to it, there is plenty of blame to go around. NHL defensemen generally take much longer to develop. Bogo was rushed to the league and despite how long he's played, he's still only 26 years old. A decade ago, he might be entering his second or third season. Next season will be his tenth. I don't think he's ever played in the right system and has regularly played with non-complimentary partners, but I have seen flashes of his potential, especially the first dozen or so games he played with the Sabres after the trade.
  22. We're going to do something else on defense but at this point it's anyone's guess how it shakes down. I'm actually looking forward to seeing if Bogo can find his game under Housely's system, which seems to match more with the things Bogo does well.
