  1. Ted Lange was Isaac "The Love Boat". Robert Guilaume was Isaac on "Sports Night".
  2. Pretty much every decent television is going to look terrific in your home. I will never spend more than $1200 on a television because they're obsolete so quickly. I have both Sony and Samsung in my house. When they're calibrated, the Sony has the superior picture but I prefer the interface on the Samsung - much cleaner and more intuitive. I have no recommendation. I don't think you can go wrong with anything that's from a "name" manufacturer. Televisions are just amazing now.
  3. "The Bridge" - another FX show that ended too soon. Detectives from Mexico and the U.S. have to navigate political and cultural issues to find a serial killer. Rome. HBO killed it early because it was so expensive to make. Another excellent show from the most groundbreaking network in television history. Life. Atypical cop show staring Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers) as a wrongfully imprisoned detective recently released after 12 years in prison. Too smart for network television.
  4. Terriers. Another show that wasn't marketed correctly and had a terrible name. Great cast (Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James). FX makes some tremendous television.
  5. Sure, but in reality he hadn't been relevant in television for like 15 years. His role as Isaac was very small but he was clearly still a powerful presence on the screen. Cheers was so well written that they could say goodbye to just about anyone but Sam and Norm and still be terrific.
  6. "The Job". Another ABC show they couldn't sell. Leary ended up rewriting it later, changing the characters from cops to firefighters in post-911 NYC. "Rescue Me" became one of FX's biggest hits. "Anger" is probably the best episode. Ellen Pompeo has a small role - long before she became the richest actress on television as the lead in "Grey's Anatomy".
  7. I started watching it from the beginning. I don't remember why because there literally weren't any actors of note in it and Sorkin wasn't anyone. It was just so damn good.
  8. Excellent choice. That show was very well done with an incredible cast. ABC, as they've been known to do, couldn't figure out how to market it. It was very smart television. Sorkin's first foray into television. ABC couldn't figure out where to put it in the lineup and it died a sad, very premature death. Most of the cast was basically unknown and went on to do a bunch of great stuff. It was probably the most original big network show of its time.
  9. Asking for and getting are two different things. Kane needs a very strong showing down the stretch and also must be a key cog in a deep playoff run or he's going to have a tough time getting both big dollars and years. He's been a perennial loser in the NHL and it's VERY hard to get that stench off you when you have the reputation for being selfish.
  10. Hartman is an RFA - so under control. Kane is a UFA and is going to ask for the moon. At the end of the day, Kane's off ice issues and consistently selfish play has killed his value. His production has never translated to winning and that's an understood fact.
  11. Absolutely. They're just idiots. Germany versus the KHL in the Gold Medal game is the NHL's worst nightmare. USA Hockey and Hockey Canada are going to be all over the Lawn Gnome and the owners to get their **** together.
  12. Americans couldn't give a rat's ass what the rest of the world's subject "think."
  13. Nice selections, USA Hockey. Tell me they wouldn't have been better with nothing but college players.
  14. That issue shouldn't be limited to school shootings. It's a total guess at this point but I'd put decent money that the majority of violent crimes committed by men would fall into the same category.
  15. They greatest are at their best when it matters most. Shaun White is the best ever.
  16. That was tough to watch. Apparently she's ok but damn, that could have been very bad.
  17. Tax cut isn't in effect until 2018.
  18. She might be the best female hockey player in the world. Slopestyle is incredible. The course was amazing... quite a feat of engineering.
  19. I'll be consumed with it. Love the Olympics (both summer and winter).
  20. Every situation and person is different, so whatever your gut tells you is probably correct. Things to know going in: 1. Ask your vet to give the dog a sedative to make sure they're not awake when that "death cocktail" is administered. I learned this the hard way and I'll never forget the look of pain in my first dog's eyes when that **** hit. 2. It happens really fast and it sucks a lot. Our vet has a special room with an exit to outside, so you don't have to display your emotions to everyone in the place on your way out. 3. Go get yourself another dog. There's a great dog facing death row in a shelter right now that will be a great addition to your family. The family member you're losing will be grateful to have left such a legacy and the life you actually save is your own. I'm at the point now that I go straight from the vet to pick up the new dog. It may sound a little weird but I promise, it's seriously helped my family grieve in a better way.
