Sabres & NHL 2017-18 - Entry Draft on June 22
Alaska Darin replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I love how cocky you Laffs fans are now. I have no problem with either hit and I watch plenty of hockey. I wouldn't have called Hartnell for any penalty, in fact I blame Antipin for how non-nonchalant he was I seriously doubt Hartnell thought VA was going to go all floppy muppet. I might have given Risto 2 minutes for interference but Crosby put Guentzal on the trolly and the puck was tipped. It was what it was. If the puck wasn't tipped, Risto is on time and everyone is lauding him for a pretty good open ice hit. The only thing I know for certain about the NHL is there won't be any consistency to how any of it is handled. They'll probably give Hartnell a 5 game suspension because it makes no sense whatsoever. -

Robin Lehner is honestly the worst break away/shootout goalie in NHL history. It's unbelievable how awful he looks in those situations. I'm literally ALWAYS shocked if he makes a save. Dude looks like a middle aged beer league guy 1-on-1. -
That was something else.

Me neighbor used to have an Insight. I don't care how good that car was on gas, it was hideous. The one that gets me is the Prius. There has to be some engineering reason that car is so god-awful ugly.

Mcdermott OT vs Indy in snow. Poll!
Alaska Darin replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am very concerned about some of McDermott's game day decision making. We'll see how it goes in the future but he was no better than a "C" grade for last season, teetering closer to C- than C+. -
Both Honda and Toyota have dramatically stepped up their styling. They used to be the worst looking "big company" cars on the road and it wasn't even close.

I haven't. I can't do it. I sincerely hope we win the damn lottery this time. We need a break after all we've been through. I do have faith in Botterill but at this point the Housley hiring looks like there's a dumpster fire smoldering. -
We had a car that was bought with the first 75k of maintenance as part of the deal. My wife took it in for one of the appointments and then went and picked it back up. She got to work and the car was running very hot (temp light came on). They had flushed the radiator and not put the cap back on. When I called them, they said they didn't have one in stock. I called corporate and they ended up sending a technician to an auto parts store, purchasing one, and driving out to put it on the car. I hate most car dealerships.

1. I saw enough of Darby in college to know that he's not a zone guy. 2. I know enough about Darby's college history to know that he's had some skirmishes away from the field, including refusing to testify about Jamies Winston's sexual assault problem. 3. I know that his play regressed from his rookie season and that he has now suffered injuries 3 seasons in a row that forced him to miss games. You're surmising that he'd be worth more in a trade to the BILLS right now, which isn't based on a single fact. Given that he started fewer than half the season last year due to injury, he's not worth even the third we got for him. If you didn't see the drastic improvement the BILLS' secondary made last season despite the lack of a credible pass rush, that's your problem. They somehow managed to do that without Darby AND got a starting WR and 3rd round pick. Feel free to keep championing that winning theory.
-
You can't have it both ways. If Darby doesn't fit the scheme, his value doesn't increase. Additionally, he may have gotten injured which essentially decreases his trade value to about zero. We're also glossing over how much value the BILLS are currently putting on the culture. Darby isn't known for his character or being the most prepared guy. McDermott and Beane aren't going to keep guys like that around because it makes them look like hypocrites. This is the NFL. You strike when there's a deal to be had.

One of my favorite truck body styles. When those are customized, they are awesome.

I can see that. Hardwick the standup is a pretty cool guy so I can see that translating to the medium. I only watched a few minutes of the first couple of episodes of TD and he was good in those but as the show has "evolved" it's just terrible. I'm with you...I blame the decision makers, no the host. I've seen a couple of episodes of "Undeniable" with Joe Buck and the interviews have been fantastic - he's good at putting his guest at ease and giving them room to answer questions.

"Talking Dead" is there for the nutjobs who buy the merchandise, go to events to get a glimpse of their "heroes", and/or are willing to sit on the telephone to ask that idiot Kirkman a stupid question. It's a talk show and pretty much all of them are terrible, schlocky television that are made to appeal to low intellects. Hardwick is actually a pretty decent stand-up. I picture him away from the people paying him laughing about how much coin he makes pretending to give a flying **** about any of it.

63% of his passes. http://www.totalfootballstats.com/PlayerQB.asp?id=2187 The coke problem was tossed around as a reason for his lousy senior year. Marino's agent confirmed having heard them and Chuck Noll essentially said the Steelers passed on Marino because of them. There wasn't any question about his football ability or toughness. Everyone knew he had that release and would take shots to pass the ball. https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2519&dat=19920512&id=aKtdAAAAIBAJ&sjid=cV0NAAAAIBAJ&pg=5040,1699158&hl=en

There were rumors being tossed around that Marino was a coke head. There's no way he would have gotten past the second pick based on his talent. The only reason Kelly dropped was his shoulder injury. The headscratcher for me was always Blackledge. Teams fell in love with his measurables but he was never a great QB.

SUVs kind of depend. One of the reasons they've "skyrocketed" is the CAFE standards and how that's evolved. Companies are forced to put more technology and shorten model life spans to meet ridiculous government wish lists. I suspect supply and demand play a part as well. If you want an SUV, there is definitely a timing element to get the best deal. If you're buying out of necessity, you're probably not going to get a great deal on a popular model/trim.

It was spectacular because it was a no-haggle, fair deal and took almost no time. Cars today are remarkably cheap given how safe and reliable they are. They're much cheaper in absolute dollars than they were when I was growing up.

They control the climate and air pressure settings for the cargo hold.

I'm not reading the story but as a dog owner, there isn't a flight attendant on this planet that would be able to put my dog in an overhead bin. Every time I've airline traveled with a pet, I've talked directly to the pilot about it because my dogs are large and travel as cargo. I make sure the pilot knows my furry children are on board and that I hold them responsible for their safe passage. I have never had a single problem.

Very true. End of model year is generally the best time to buy, especially if they're changing the body style or have a model change. We bought my wife's loaded Pathfinder over the internet in the final model year of the last body style, right as the new models were starting to hit the lot. We got 25% off sticker, the next set of tires, full maintenance for 75k, and 0% interest. All done over the internet in a couple of hours. My truck came from a very large volume dealer who doesn't negotiate but marks pretty much everything down 20% as a rule. They had a 4th of July sale where they went down another 10%. Went online, found the exact truck I wanted, called and asked them to set it aside because I was on my way in with a check. I was in and out of there in 25 minutes, including the test drive. Spectacular.

It always depends. If the deal on the vehicle you're buying is terrific, your trade in deal will suck. If you trade in deal is great, you're going to pay closer to MSRP. Dealerships have a ton of overhead and it takes money to keep the lights on. If you're concerned over a couple of grand, sell it yourself. If the dealership tries to give you an obviously crappy deal, just leave and go somewhere else. NEVER give a dealer more than ONE hour of your time. Tell them up front that you're only going to be there for an hour. When there's 15 minutes left, remind them of your terms. I have NEVER had a problem getting a fair deal done because at the one hour mark, I bolt like I'm on fire.

Who can throw in the snow and bitter cold?

Snow and cold don't factor in. Wind is the issue. -
Golic and Wingo - How Do You Like the Show, So Far?
Alaska Darin replied to Gugny's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Neither show has ever really been any good. M&M got top notch guests and when they were on, they carried the show. It's typical schlock radio. They try to create controversy where pretty much nothing exists. If they aren't interviewing someone, it's a total waste of time. ESPN is terrible across every facet of content they provide. -
Not all service dogs are under the same rules. We have people at work who have service dogs to help them with PTSD. People are encouraged to interact with those dogs. Just one example.

TV shows that were cut way too soon
Alaska Darin replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I read about both of those but haven't seen them. I will check out "The Tunnel". Thanks for the recommendation.
