That is simply not true. EJ doesn't have the fundamental foundation to build on. He lacks the ability to consistently repeat his delivery, even to this day. His feet look like Bambi trying to ice skate. He had zero chance of being a consistent, productive NFL QB in Buffalo but the probability wouldn't increase much anywhere in NFL.

EJ was a bad college QB surrounded by elite talent. He didn't improve much during his college career, so it was pure folly to believe he would overcome all of the things he was terrible at even if he was put it an ideal NFL situation. He probably should have been a UFA. I still can't believe the BILLS wasted pi k in the top half of the first round on the guy.

The return is interesting. Another first in 2019, a second in 2021, Tage Thompson (pick 26 in 2016), Sobotka, and Berglund. Berglund has always been frustrating because he flashes the power forward skills at times, then disappears. Sobotka is a pest...bottom six guy.

I consider the source reliable. If we trade O'Reilly to the Blues, Pareyko simply has to be part of the return. The rumor this morning is Pareyko, Sobotka, and a first. I would take that deal too. I don't think you can ever have enough draft swings, especially in the first round. Pareyko fills an enormous need, Sobotka is a serviceable bottom six, PK guy, and it would give us 4 first round picks over the next two seasons. I don't think Botts squanders the draft capital like GMTM did. I don't see how Allen is any part of the deal, even though that was the initial rumor. It really didn't make sense from the Blues perspective unless they were going to re-sign Carter Hutton. Moving Allen means they have pretty much no goalies that have NHL experience in their entire organization. On top of that, Allen has been wildly inconsistent and might be at the very bottom of his value. I wouldn't trade ROR for only picks unless it was at least 3 firsts. I was all about letting Vanek go to Edmonton for 4 firsts - there aren't any players in the NHL worth 4 firsts, so if anyone is willing to part with that kind of bounty, I would be all over it.

Agree with all of this. Combat sports aren't something you just "pick up" because you're an athletic guy. Most of the guys who are successful in the Octagon have been doing some level of this their entire sporting life. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

Given the BILLS are replacing pretty much the entire interior of the OLINE, it probably behooves the team to wait to put a green rookie under center. I think there are rare cases when starting a first round QB is the ok but the majority of the time there is significant risk.

Economics don't work.

The players make too much money now to really engage in anything during the regular season. You'll see it on occasion when someone takes liberties but mostly it's really contained inside an individual game, instead of playing out across the regular seasons series.
