  1. No more smurfs on defense. Kid is huge and athletic. Nothing not to like about that. Newsflash: All 3rd round picks are projects. That's why they last into the third round.
  2. The fact of the matter is true pass rushers in the NFL are very rare - most pressure comes from scheme.
  3. And I can't recall UVA ever sending an NT to the NFL (I could be wrong). Chris Long was a DE and plays in the 43 in St Louis. I think George Young said it best (paraphrased): If you find a guy who is athletic and over 300 pounds, you pick him.
  4. Then why bother being a fan? You're pretty much always going to be miserable and there's nothing you can do to change what's happening.
  5. Whose past history? Neither guy running this draft has ever picked anyone for the Buffalo Bills.
  6. They really don't. It's more of a hybrid that changes based on formation. Texas more regularly plays a traditional 34 than Alabama does. 2 schools that play it more often doesn't change the point that the guy we drafted HAS NEVER PLAYED the 34 or the point that it's difficult to project an NFL NT based on how colleges play defense.
  7. Of course he's a 43 DT - it's college. Welcome to why it's so hard to find a 34 DT. NO program plays a 34. Jesus Christ.
  8. Baltimore's situation is far different. They're proven and they can use their veterans to keep Cody in line. To say nothing of the fact that he's going to be a situational player who's not going to see 40% of the snaps on that team. Cody's chances of success are far higher in Baltimore than they would be in Buffalo.
  9. The BILLS finally pick a fat guy. A captain. A guy who was regularly doubled. Not good enough because the mocks say his value is lower. How's JC's value? Bulaga's? Williams'? McCoy's? 34 NTs are NOT a dime a dozen.
  10. If the BILLS pick JC, I'll root for him. There isn't anything else to do. NFL teams don't KNOW QB evaluation and they aren't getting any better at it as the years go on. The fact that all the teams passed on JC means they're either all smart or all dumb. Pretty much all of them passed on Dan Marino too.
  11. That's a load and ignores that Wood and Levitre have their best years in front of them. No one knows about Green and it's quite likely that someone like Saffold ends up at LT. This is the deepest draft in years at tackle - no reason to reach at 9, a fact Nix obviously knows. Bull. The draft didn't end with CJ Spiller. It started there.
  12. I think that would be valid if we were bringing back the same staff. Gailey is a far more accomplished tactician than anyone we've had in Buffalo since Marchibroda.
  13. If I had a dollar for every time that phrase was uttered on this board, I'd give Buffet a run. The team FINALLY picks the most talented football player on the board - a guy who has absolutely zero question marks. Doesn't fumble. Is a dynamic playmaker regardless of scenario. Has tremendous vision. Doesn't need "Hall of Fame" level blocking. Isn't a douche bag off the field. Pretty much the anti-Lynch. He compares favorably with both Marshall Faulk and Chris Johnson. The first game changer in Orchard Park since Thurman's heyday. This pick is a home run. Baluga, Claussen, or Williams were ALL reaches at 9.
  14. I really like McCoy but I don't know if he's got the arm to play in Buffalo in November/December.
  15. I already got an email from the BILLS about getting a Spiller jersey...
  16. Great insight. You know, given this is their first draft.
  17. That is a weird !@#$ing pick. Trade for Quinn, trade up to get Tebow. Just weird.
  18. They almost always seem to be sitting in a spot where it makes sense. !@#$ers.
  19. Yeah, Fred Jackson didn't rush for 1000 yards or average 4.5 YPC. Settle down, Beavis.
