Great point! You've got to figure all the teams who've drafted QB's early this year will be out of the running. Who does that leave to compete for QB's next year? Obviously teams like Pitt or LAC with vet QB's could jump in, but it leaves only a few obvious teams. NYJ, Arizona, SF, maybe Jax or Den?

It'll be nice to see how good this O-line can be without a gaping hole at RT. Like the pick, don't love giving up 2 extra picks to move up. If he turns out to be another Cordy Glenn (or anything close), I'll quickly forget about the 2 5th rounders we gave up.

Probably White and the pics, but Lattimore has a shot at being elite. If he goes on to be a 10 time pro-bowler, and White is a solid starter, perhaps we get another solid starter next year, and a contributor in round 3, it's tough to say. Time will tell, but it's certainly easy to understand their strategy, which isn't always the case.

If it costs us a 5th, I'd be all over it. If it's going to cost us a 3rd, I'd rather wait and see what's there at 44.

Wonder why they make this move now? It's not like they're up against the cap. Perhaps they didn't like what he brought to the locker room? 2 yrs ago the guy was very productive. Seems odd to draft a kid, than put the added pressure of releasing the previous starter, especially when they really didn't need to.

I agree that it looked like a lot to pay to move up one spot, especially when the 49ers presumably had no interest in picking a QB. However, I believe what the Bears paid for was the right to block another team jumping up and taking the 2nd spot and drafting Trubisky. SF was likely taking offers on that pick, and the Bears knew if they didn't pay up, the spot would go to someone else looking for the QB.

You're absolutely right! But those guys make mistakes all the time, us Bills fans are painfully aware of that. Time will tell.

Although I agree completely, I'm far less high on Mahomes than I was before hearing that irish draft expert WGR the other day. The guy came across very knowledgeable, and completely obliterated Mahomes suggesting there are just too many issues with his footwork and throwing mechanics to pan out. Again, you're right, none of us know for sure. I'm just glad the Bills aren't the team that heavily invested in him.

I'd be good with most on this list (minus Kizer). Isn't Williams a hand in the dirt end in our system though? Can't see him actually play LB unless it's in a 3-4, and even then it's questionable.

Obviously it depends on what we do in the 2nd. If we go JuJu, Zay, or even Kupp in the second I think you need to look WR and maybe RT or S in the third. I don't think there's great value at LB in the 3rd, so I'd be in favor of grabbing Cunningham (provided hes' available) in the 2nd, and hoping one of the aforementioned WR's are available (or even Samuels, Westbrook or Godwin). The nice thing about this draft is, we should be able to get 3 contributors at LB, WR, RT, S, or LB in rounds 2 & 3.

Been a very long time since I've posted on here, but have read the forum for years. I don't love the pick, but I understand it and think White can be a day 1 starter and solid contributor for years. Like many, I was in favor of a trade down coming into the draft, and I think they got solid value. What made it difficult for me was trading out of a spot where we could have got a true impact player, several of which I didn't expect to be there (Hooker, Lattimore, Howard). The real tough part of this pick was seeing Foster still sitting there at 27 and passing on him. I hope they were right in avoiding him (presumably due to the medical info they had?), because he looks like he's going to be a real difference maker at the NFL level. Pairing him with the extra picks would have made it an overwhelmingly great night, but again, I don't have the luxury of the medicals. Sorry for the long post. Overall I guess I'm happy that we acquired additional picks/assets and still got a solid contributor at a position of need. Anyone terribly upset by the pick and move just isn't looking at things objectively (hard to fault them after all the years of suffering though).

I can't remember where I read it recently (probably here), but I recall Schobel saying he thinks he'd fit better as a 3-4 OLB than in the current 4-3 scheme. That said, he was still non-commital about coming back.

I find it hard to believe that a college football star could hold out that long. Imagine the options he would have... If true, that's really impressive.
