  1. Deals will start to be reported after noon today. They'll become "official" on Wedesday.
  2. We could EASILY absorb his contract. Comes down to the compensation the Texans want IMO.
  3. Reader is really the only "big" name we've heard the Bills linked to (not that we can't be working in stealth mode), and I'd be happy to bring him in and upgrade the D-line. As for Hopkins, if the rumors are true, they've got to at least inquire. He'd be such a massive upgrade to this offense.
  4. I think Howard might be a slightly better fit, but I'd be fine with either as our vet backup RB.
  5. I'm fine with this. Would've been a nice add, but not necessary at that price, especially with term. There will be plenty of other options at LB. And plenty of other places to spend our abundance of cap space.
  6. Sounds like an excellent option at RB2. Can fill in admirably for Singletary and is effective in goal line situations.
  7. If I'm moving up, it's got to be for an elite talent. Either Lamb or Jeudy at WR, or if by some craziness Simmons or Okudah drops out of the top 10. I don't think I'd give up what it would cost to grab Ruggs. I don't dislike the player, but I see a clear seperation between the top 2 WR's and the rest of the bunch. Ruggs at 22 would be great though. Otherwise, I'm happy to trade back a few spots and pick up some more draft capital.
  8. It's a more intriguing question when put in that context. But you're also eating an additional $2M by cutting Murphy, so it's really more like a $4M premium on Shaq. I guess it depends, I think Murphy is the better pass rusher, Shaq is better against the run and more likely to make it through a season without missing games. For this year, we've got the cap, but Shaq's deal will likely require some term. Lots to consider.
  9. Agreed 100% Even watching the games last year, at least 2 of his 6.5 sacks were blown coverages where he walked in untouched on the QB. That's no fault of his own, but really, he's not a real pass rush threat and isn't worth that kind of $$$. They are better off spending the dough on someone who can get to the QB. No disrespect to Shaq. He's improved every year in the league and by all accounts is a solid teammate. I'd just rather allocate that kind of money elsewhere.
  10. I suspect if you bring in a guard at near $10M, Ford would remain at RT.
  11. Except Ron had him on the last year of a $75M deal...he obviously wasn't playing up to THAT contract
  12. Seems far more likely, if he's NFL ready, that the Cowboys will sign him. He's working out across the street from their facility, and Jerry has already come and said he's open to a Dez return.
  13. I like Sanders, but have a hard time seeing a match. Isn't he most effective in Beasley's role out of the slot? With our current cap situation, and roster construction, it's hard to think we can't/shouldn't make a splash with at least 1 or 2 impact players. Whether that's a Clowney, Hooper, or perhaps someone via trade, I just think this is the year to grab someone that can make an impact.
  14. And if he's horrible in pass pro, don't have him do it. Have him run a route, if they're in man someone will need to cover him. If it's a blitz, you've got one extra safety valve option for Josh to dump it off to. I know it's not quite that simple. But there are ways of ensuring he's useful to have on the field.
  15. As long as he's walking to Buffalo!
  16. Have to wonder if we're really in on this, or Beane is just doing his diligence? He strikes me as the type of guy who checks in on EVERYTHING, to understand value and acquisition cost.
  17. Unless they plan to add through FA, then getting any pick now may be advantageous.
  18. It's not a NEED, but if it's for a mid round pick, we have the cap space, why not? I love Gore, but it's not like he's the answer. A Singletary/Gordon backfield would be more than solid moving forward. I'd like to think we'd come to terms on a reasonable extension before pulling the trigger though.
  19. Agreed. At this point, if they are going to make an addition, it should be an impactful WR or DE.
  20. I'd be all over Leonard, but why would they be willing to move on from him? I suspect the acquisition cost would be too high for us.
  21. Folks shouldn't underestimate how cheaply the Bengals are run. They aren't winning anything this year. Getting a 3rd instead of a comp pick not only gets them a slightly earlier pick it saves them about $8M in salary this year. That money could very well play a factor. I really like both players, and any other season I'd be thrilled at the thought of acquiring them, but we're pretty much overloaded with TE's right now. And the young guys look pretty good, so I'm not sure I'd want to give up an asset and a roster spot for another one (even if they are a clear upgrade).
