Why would Williams get so much more than Montgomery? Granted he had a better 2022, but Montgomery has been the better back in prior years. If I were to guess, I think Williams gets a similar deal if not slightly less.

Bears can offer boatloads of money. Bengals offer a chance to win. Bills offer a chance to win and likely a bigger role than Bengals.

Hardman would be interesting. I guess Diggs would play more out of the slot than he has in the past, with Gabe and Mecole outside. As with anything, depends on the price. Wouldn’t want to spend a ton on him though. He’s kind of proven to be a speed guy but not much more.

I think it’s more like $18-22M. I think we were around $14 over, and have restructured about $40M total. That makes $26M cap space. No details yet on the structure of McGovern’s deal but I imagine there is a signing bonus to keep the year 1 cap hit down.

Usually they turn salary for the coming year into signing bonus that can be spread across the remaining years of the deal to lower the current season hit. As long as you’ve got owners willing to shell out large sums of cash and years remaining on the deals you can keep doing it.

Unfortunately she also tweeted what amounts to a goodbye today too. Hopeful his market didn’t materialize and we get him back on a reasonable deal, but I think it’s doubtful. She seems to have made it clear she wants him playing (aka them living) somewhere warm.
