I thought we were playoff bound and applauded the Jauron signing. The Dolphins loss was disturbing, but I thought it was just a fluke and didn't become seriously concerned until the first Jets game.

This idea makes a lot of sense. I can't figure out why more people aren't in favor of it.

SuperBills12, while I agree with you, I'm not sure if this was the right forum to bring the issue up. To those who have responded so far, I understand that you think the initial poster is being overly sensitive and making a big deal about nothing, as most of your jokes are not supposed to be taken seriously. However, if you think about it this way, maybe you'll understand where he's coming from. Our culture, for whatever reason (I won't go into it), has created a point to point connection between homosexuality and something being dumb, stupid, or otherwise deficient. Anyone who uses the word gay in this way is propagating this stereotype whether they mean to or not. I don't expect most of you to agree with or seriously consider this assessment nor do I want to dictate how you should and should not act (it's your life). However, try substituting a word that defines your own identity (whether it's your race, class, religion, etc) in place of the word gay and ask yourself if you or someone else in your social group (parents, friends, etc) might be offended if people devalued your identity with such regularity. Unless I've got SuperBills12 wrong, he doesn't mean that you are all homophobic but that you're feeding into this normal vs. homosexual binary by using gay to mean that something is bad, stupid, dumb, etc.

On ESPN's First Take, Skip just said Buffalo is one of the few teams who might take a chance on Vick. He cited a need to raise attendance and keep the team in Buffalo (yes, really) as the reasons for why Buffalo grabbed TO and would be the team most likely to make a move for Vick. I completely disagree with his assessment (both in terms of his logic and conclusion) What are your thoughts?

Even though he isn't in a contract year, Trent's contract will need to change if he has a good season. If he plays well, they'll need to offer him a better contract to keep him happy and rightly so. The Bills will almost definitely wait until the end of the season to do this regardless of how well he plays.

I'm not sure if it's really that bad; we're not the Raiders or Lions. However, reverting to the "we're not the lowest common denominator" phrase probably isn't a good sign either.

If true, is this good or bad for us? I kind of like the Jets sacrificing picks for Sanchez. I think he is a bit overvalued and the Jets, an aging team still waiting for Goodell's ruling on walker use during games, probably need all the picks they can muster.

Pre-Randy Moss Tom Brady. I seem to recall him doing pretty well with sub-par talent around him. McNabb in Philadelphia has also performed well with mediocre talent. I'm aware that these people don't fit your definition of a "gun slinger" but they do stand as proof that quarterbacks can perform well with mediocre talent. Having a defense that isn't a sieve may help Cutler mature as well.

ExiledInIllinois, my post was not targeted at you but was more a critique of the initial post and the general discussion that followed. However, you responded to someone who was asking where the initial article stated that Stallworth was drunk by saying the following: "Kinda looks the same to me? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Buzzed vs. Drunk" Your response clearly insinuates that he was under the influence of something and that only the extent to which he was impaired is a matter of debate. You may, in fact, be right. However, as of yet, no one has posted any links that say as much. I simply said that it's a bit over the top to throw around such claims without any hard data at all.

Why is everyone saying that he was DUI? The article that the initial poster linked to never said the he was under the influence or that police suspected that he was, merely that they're conducting a routine test of his blood alchohol level at the time of the accident. Officers drew blood to test for drugs or alcohol, which is routine, but police said it was too early to tell if Stallworth was impaired or violating traffic laws. I added Owens in my version and the passing game is very solid. At least next year Bills fans will be at less of a disadvantage when choosing teams.

Normally, I hold back from adding my two cents into a discussion like this, but I thought Flbillsfan#1's post was obviously sarcastic, hence the all-cap words for ironic emphasis. However, maybe I just prefer to read it that way because it makes the later comment about sarcasm flying over people's heads incredibly funny.

Not to start another TO thread, but I think this topic is unique enough to warrant its own section. The following is a quote from a dolphins fan in response to Tim Graham's story on ESPN: "Great. I disagree with this assessment. Many of Trent's errors came when teams dropped into coverage and Edwards made bad reads. If you look at the Browns' game, I think you'll see that many (but not all) of those bad throws were unforced. Due to his quick release and effectiveness at short throws, I think he actually did okay when being blitzed.
