While I agree with everyone's assessment that respect has to be earned, I don't like the ESPNing of the NFL network, hiring controversial former players to say dumb controversial things. As Mark Jackson would say, "C'mon NFL network, you're better than that"!

Watching the first pre-season game with the redskins on the NFL network, I was stunned at how bad Theisman was and how many mistakes he made. The guy is enamored with the sound of his own voice. I hate when the local announcers give a "good call" on what is obviously a bad call just because it went in favor of their team. Theisman did that at least twice.

After watching Chad Simpson and Arthur Anderson (who?) I thinhk you were right originally. Never take a running back in the first round. AS exciting as Spiller is, he has to learn to cut into the middle of the field where the spaces are wide open. Watch the 20 yard screen. If he cuts it into the middle, it's a TD. Also hasn't shown cutback ability that the great ones have. If he doesn't Defenses will just run to the sideline to get him. Not ready to print his Pro Bowl ticket yet. Room for improvement.

Finally got to watch the game last night. I know it's hard to tell but did anybody notice whether Wilson was playing fee safety or strong side? He seemed to be blitzing a lot and very involved in the run D.

Ellis Lankster, who has been horrible.Marshawn Lynch, who is not needed. I like #36.

I also noticed that he was totally ineffective. Spencer Johnson and the kid Carrington are waiting in the wings. Come to think of it, McCargo looked better!

Like him or hate him, he's the closest thing to a pass rusher we have. Chris Ellis is gonna get sacks? Marcus Stroud? For our defense to be anything, Aaron Maybin better have some rush. And it's not all about sacks. Hurries are good too. Just make the QB uncomfortable in the pocket.
