Not a flattering assessment of Adolphus
Wagon Circler replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone further interested in being depressed should read the Buffalo Rumblings post-draft scouting report on Washington. It appears well-researched and is pretty negative. Sorry Doug, no day one starter here. Situational pass rusher which is ok, we needed that too. But everyone should temper their enthusiasm on this guy, -
RD 4, Pick 139: QB Cardale Jones, Ohio State
Wagon Circler replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. Really really disappointed when Prescott got picked ahead. Could have nabbed him but for the Ragland deal. Hopefully he'll be worth it. Jones is a wasted pick who will never start an NFL game. -
I like hm a lot, but as a third-rounder.

I like Lynch and would consider taking him at #19. NOT moving up to take him, since we can't rule out Tyrod being the guy .

Bills among teams with shrinking "middle class"

Sad news for Bills LB Tony Steward

Kind of puts the year-round football ranting into perspective. -
You can say a lot about EJ......

Great play. Go E.J.! Prederably out the door. -
Was calling for them to start Geno THIS week after the Bills game. Fitz is very limited as a quarterback. Geno was the starter and having a good preseason until IK got him.

Looks like rain for Thursday night

Based on last week, I expect Roman to call a running play on every first down in the first half, since Taylor cannot be trusted. This won't work. In the second half, when we are down 14-17 points, he will open it up and we will start scoring. -
Tyrod Taylor ruled Out for Jags

I would rather see Tyrod Taylor balanced on one leg than EJ Manuel. -
Eric Wood is 2nd ranked Center in NFL by PFF

A bit surprising as every time we try to run up the middle, the running back has to fight to get back to the line of scrimmage. -
Did Doug Waley support/want the Rex Ryan hire?
Wagon Circler replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My goals the rest of the season are pretty modest: Reestablish the pass rush/defense and see if Tyrod is the guy going forward. -
The Whaley / Ryan / Dareus disconnect
Wagon Circler replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saying the Bills were high on Manuel because the News said so is bullbleep. Those guys don't know. Enough with all the rogue-WQhaley crap. IMHO, if anything, Ryan has too much power. -

Good news indeed. Don't think I could watch EJ for another week. Tyrod may still be the future. EJ is the past. -
[Please Change Title]Doug Whaley
Wagon Circler replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the Manuel pick, I would like to point out that Buddy Nix was still the GM and I don't remember anything definitive about who ran that draft. So I don' think that pick can be laid at his feet. Am I wrong. Or is this the usual rush to judgment? This team has been trending upward since he took over. The fact that it no longer is is not his fault. You want him to do a better job scouting players not to commit personal fouls or wide receivers who don't commit holding? How about all the roster attention to special teams and our special teams are brutally bad? -
Bu by the end of the year, nobody was shredding us, including Brady. I know it didn't count, but we kept him out of the end zone. You think Tom liked that?
-
I'm really not getting the Doug Whaley hate by some people. I feel that he put together a talented roster during the off-season (everyone did!). He picked three very good players in the draft without a first rounder. Signing Incognito and Clay were solid moves. McCoy is a good football player when healthy. He's made mistakes, such as the failure to address right tackle. But no team is perfect. He kept the defense intact, which I thought was a great move. Still not ready to give up on Tyrod Taylor who has a lot of talent. The blueprint was supposed to be to run the ball, mix in the pass and play great defense. He had no reason to believe that our defense would uhhhh...stink! He did not pick the defensive guru coach who ruined a very good defense, The team is underacheiving. It doesn't mean everyone is responsible. It is clear to me at least that this coaching staff is brutal, especially rex and crossman. Do you think we would be 3-3 with the Bowles- Gailey combo. I don't. Leave Whaley alone. And lets give Tyrod some more chances too. If the defense had lived up to billing, our record would be better.

Did Doug Waley support/want the Rex Ryan hire?
Wagon Circler replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My impression is that the owner made the decision and Whaley went along. Rex snowed Pegula, just like the New York writers said. I hate it when they're right. -
Special Teams - The biggest issue?
Wagon Circler replied to RichVP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair, if our offense can get even two first downs, we could flip the field. It looks especially bad when you keep going three and out. RETURN GUYS: PLEASE stop fair-catching punts inside the five! You are doing the other teams work for them. -
Interesting conversation. Can we just say that he is a work in progress and leave it at that. Interestingly, this was I thought his worst game as a Bill for three quarters. I have to say, the kid's got a lot of heart and his legs aren't bad either! I really don't think that Roman is helping him, sticking with an ineffective running game and continually putting Tyrod in second and third and longs, where our o-line also can't protect him. Hurry back Sammy and Lesean!

Does our offense fit our personnel?
Wagon Circler replied to 2020 Our Year For Sure's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totaly agree with the OP. Put Tyrod in the shotgun. Spread the field. Throw 40 times a game. Mix in the run. In other words, Gailey's offense. This is 2015. It's a passing league. We don't have Iupati and Anthony Davis. Since third downs are such a problem, avoid them! Throw the ball past the sticks on first and second down. -
I know Bills fans are feeling nautious over that debacle yesterday and the comments certainly reflect that. But I would ask the fans to show some patience with Tyrod. There were a lot of throws short of the sticks, which is crazy (especially at the goal line). This might have been Tyrod's fault, but I don't think so. I believe that he is coached that way and Roman prefers him to throw short that way. When 20 yard routes are called, the offense opens up and we start to move the ball. Tyrod is the closest thing we have found to a legitimate starter since Bledsoe was great for 1/2 a season. He has a great arm, great legs and appears unflappable, a huge asset for a QB. With the understanding that he is operating with a crappy o-line and no o-line coach (Thanks Kromer), let's give Tyrod a chance to grow into the starter's role. It makes things so much easier personnel wise if your quarterback is in place. This kid is so exciting. His 2 best plays yesterday, great touchdown throw and run were wiped out by penalties or we would be singing his praises. Maybe Roman actually unleashes him for 60 minutes one day.

Then why wasn't the clock stopped to review it? It was certainly close. I thought on replay, it was joint possession when they hit the ground.

The thing that makes you the most mad...
Wagon Circler replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of feelings after this game. When Thigpen fair-caught the ball at the six, didn't Crossman go to him and tell him not to do that. If he did, when Thigpen did it again, he should be benched. I lost it when he did it again. This team plays stupid. The fourth down pass was a rediculous call. You are at the one and a half yard line. You through a one yard pass? Can't throw into the end zone from inside the two? How many third down completions yesterday short of the sticks, including the first two possessions? Second possession= one yard pass on third and three! Roman is coaching too conservative. When he opens it up, we start moving the ball. I knew going in that we would not run the ball well. The Giants were giving up 3.4 yards a carry. Stuck with it even though it was obviously not working. Biggest issue is crappy pass rush this year from front four. I don't know if it's scheme or what. Not there like it was last two years. When we hired Rex, my first thought was,"at least the defense will be good". No showed against New England and in first half yesterday. Penalties: Tell your team that the next guy who takes a personal foul is on the bench for the rest of the game and stick to it. Sometimes even a player's coach has to come down on his team. This is ridiculous.
