  1. NO! if the kid's got even the slightest chance of turning his game around, Yogi and Boo-Boo will give him little to work with. in the last two games Orton has been playing as EJ did before being benched, and i don't think it's a coincidence. let Kyle finish the year, and he and Manuel can return next season with an new coaching staff
  2. an intelligent man might consider using a time out at that point to review his options
  3. our running game went nowhere again our receivers were covered again our defense gave up big plays again our officiating crew made bad calls again our coaches had no answer again our fans will be back again
  4. these weren't remarks at a post game press conference - this is what he was expressing on the sideline, during a game still very much in question, for anyone - player or coach - to hear. maybe it needs to be seen to be appreciated - but he actually looked like he was feeling sorry for himself. i couldn't even make out what he said after the Loedis fumble, as he was mumbling by then.. AND HIS TEAM STILL HAD THE LEAD! i was just very suprised to see our coach acting like a bewildered passenger on a runaway train.. i really thought he had more salt that that. if someone else saw the segment and didn't get that vibe - GOOD! because than maybe it's just my perception, and it won't be the first time i'm wrong,
  5. i don't know, it's just that i've never seen this kind of glimpse into his demeanor on the sideline when things go bad, i thought he was a tougher commander.
  6. i get what your saying, but he reacts like he has no control over the situation - like a frustrated fan. a head coach should delegate, not abdicate.
  7. don't know how many of you saw last night's Inside the NFL, but when our KC segment was over, i couldn't help getting the feeling that our head coach responds more like a sulking fan on a message board than someone in a position to impact the game. fyi - it's hard to tell exactly when these were uttered - because the show's editor had a job to do - but here are a few of his more pessimistic remarks captured during the game - directed at no one in particular: after the Brown fumble - "that's a touchdown.. that's not like it's not a touchdown.. that's a touchdown" sometime after that - "we should be up by a helluva lot more than this" after the Charles TD - "4th and 1.. unbelievable" toward the end - "we had opportunities" i'd rather hear him screaming, "they're killin' me Whitey! they're killin' me!" - than this sad sack crap. jeez, coach.. if you're disappointed with how your team's playing - get engaged, when it counts - or buy a ticket!
  8. I watched on tv, and I don't think we came with a 3 man rush more than a couple times.. that 3rd and forever that resulted in a 4th and 1 may have been the other.. not 100% certain, but that's how I saw it
  9. Two thoughts on these.. 1. Pepper may have had to use Lawson in some packages that the injured Wynn would normally be in.. can't know for certain if that was the case, but it might account for Manny's inside track to protect against a bounce outside. Shoot, the whole team bought it.. a great call. 2. McKelvin had just helped his intense D unit shut down the Chiefs again, and was still in 'kick ass' mode - someone should have wound him down before the play - reminding him that his #1 job was ball security - not making a play
  10. too bad this post is drowning in the wake of everything that went wrong yesterday, but thanks for pointing out a true positive - although, and its only because i was constantly looking for Cujo at RG, there were still too many instances of Pears looking like a lost kid at Walmart
  11. because his defensive unit had just made another intense stop, and he was all amped up to continue making plays. he shouldn't be back there at all - not because of that fumble - because we can't afford to lose a starting CB. obviously, he's proven to the coaches that he's the most capable return man they have, but having your returner next to you on the sideline before sending him out to field the punt, would give a coach a chance to impress upon him what you want right there
  12. i'm not sure if the defensive players were 'demoralized' after McKelvin's turnover.. it may have been a matter of preparedness on edge responsibilities - especially if Lawson was taking an injured Wynn's place at DE
  13. perhaps the Pegulas might add this above the gates at the Ralph - "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."
  14. nothing else to do when a set play, that includes linemen heading downfield, must be aborted - unless the QB is mobile enough to tuck it in and make a play with his legs
  15. McKelvin seems to display good judgement on his returns, but ball security should have been job number one on that return. If your returner has just come off an intense series playing defense, you make sure he gets that message before he heads back
  16. same here.. did we rush only 3 there, also? that 4th down play was a great call - but when that 3rd down pass was completed, the ghosts of blown opportunities once again began circling the field
  17. well said.. fans of this team for the last 40-50 years have developed a 6th sense of imminent doom - as in, "i see bad losses". keep yer chin up..
  18. also wondered why we didn't continue to pressure KC on their last possesion before the half ended - call our TOs, and force them to claw for yards that would allow them to keep possession. we took our foot off their throats, and were satisfied to keep them from gaining scoring position. i know we were getting the ball to start the 2nd half, but you never know where a defensive turnover may come..
  19. we owned the 3rd quarter, and put up just 3 points..
  20. Smith must of thought he died and went to heaven
  21. frankly, Schwarz's decision to rush only 3 men on that 3rd and 8 conversion sealed the deal.. or maybe it was the 3rd down completion that led to the 4th and 1 TD.. i think we may have dropped 8 there, also.. whatever.. we're a very competitive team, that just isn't quite good enough to win when our players and coaches make mistakes.. and that includes some sketchy play from our QB
  22. just a heads up, if anyone's interested
  23. I'm not saying to ignore him, but Schwarz time is best spent game planning for the guy Fasano's blocking for.
