  1. Split back formation - strong side to widest hash, Freddie set to strong side - fake outside zone to Freddie, and hit Boobie or Brown with a little weak side swing pass. Let the overly eager Browns think they're gonna get a chance to whallop Freddie first thing, and then show them we're ready for it. Lets keep them guessing, and on their heels. It's gonna be a physical game, but we have to dictate where and when we want to maul them.. float like a butterfly, Boo Boo..
  2. season 2, episode 1 - coach Marrone and Hackett review a plan to develop their first round quarterback with an ineffective offensive line.
  3. if they start Leonhard at FS, then we may never have to run the ball. my apologies, 26CB. i just saw this info from bleacher report - concerning Pettine's plans with Gipson out. Leonhard, who has played 150 snaps at safety this year to Poyer's three, figures to be the one to get the most playing time in Gipson's absence. The 10-year veteran has played for Pettine for six of those years, and his knowledge of the system and the trust Pettine has in him is what brought him to Cleveland in the first place. Pettine, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, said of Leonhard on Monday, "t's been big for us to have him throughout the year, just to give us that quality depth and a guy we know could step in and play on limited practice repetitions." He also added, on Poyer, "[T]his is also a time we're very happy to have Jordan Poyer on the roster as well. We're confident when his number is called. He did get in for a few plays. His role will increase as we move forward without Gip. And we're obviously confident he'll do a good job for us." man, this is a major match-up problem for Pettine and O'Neil that we have to take advantage of! are you listening, Boo Boo? i know there are ill feelings towards the man, but don't discount the player. Whitner has been an impact player on two very good Ds in the last few seasons. we have to get force him to back out to give help. but yeah, that would be something to see..
  4. i'm confident that Schwarz can mix things up enough in coverage to force Hoyer into a mistake or two. he's aware - as any opposing Bills QB is at this point - of how crtitical it is to make sound judgements at the line, and instant confirm/dismiss reads on the fly, in order to get the ball out quickly. i like him, but he's not capable of dictating to our D. he'll have a good game if he can make a few plays within what we'll give him. i'm more concerned with the other side of the ball. having the back-up FS Poyer starting for Gipson has to impact the play of Whitner at SS, but only if we're aggressive enough downfield to test him. like Hoyer, Orton will see a lot going on pre-snap, and will have to use good judgement on where he's getting single coverage. if Boo Boo can throw some route combinations in there to confuse Poyer, there may be plays to be made to the deep middle. make one of those, and Donte may not be as aggressive in the box. that will go a long way to getting our run game going. this is a chance for our O-line to come out mauling the point of attack, but i don't think we're going to get the run game going until we prove our receivers and QB can take chunks out of them.
  5. good point. Watkins has to beat single coverage there. remember who Pettine coached defense for. it's all about freeing men up to bring pressure, and shutdown corners are the key
  6. yes.. it was too much too soon. this passing game has to run horizontally without a running game - and the coaches expectations that he could make up for their inability to develop the O-line was why he had to be benched. at first i thought it was EJ not taking command of the opportunity, but it became obvious that the switch to Orton didn't change our approach. the QB is still being asked to stick the ball into tight spots underneath, throw little go routes to the back, or check down to the back. anything deeper will go outside the hash marks, unless its a TE seam. the safeties are just too damn deep because the opponent doesn't have to find ways to get 8 in the box. oops.. sorry 'bout the rant but yeah, with a solid running game, i think EJ's got a shot at this.
  7. yep.. maybe he'll get him in sooner during our next blow-out. i wonder if was ready for the series before last, but our lousy field position effected the decision to bring him in (i think we got the ball deep in our own end there - but i may be wrong)
  8. i get your point, but we have a veteran line coach who can coach any blocking schemes out there. Cable's an Alex Gibbs disciple and a ZBS zealot, so as HC, he'd insist on focusing the O on a zone blocking running game - complete with the proper personnel to execute it. now you're talking a commitment by the GM to bring in the 'right' linemen and RB. you see how this whole thing escalates with a Cable hire? and for what? to angle block? Marrone must have convinced Buddy and Whaley he could get production out of whoever they lined up for him - similar to Rex in NY, when they took Revis away. If Marrone recognizes that he has a lot more pigs ears than silk purses, we'll improve the talent level for coach Morris to work with
  9. OP's just having some fun after an easy win.. personally, i was hoping EJ was going in the series before last - with a chance to move the ball.
  10. I dunno.. he still looked 'soft'.. but maybe its the teddy pendergast beard he's rockin
  11. Was that Spero and Solomon that ran onto the field?
  12. yep.. and he'd still be running. it's good to point out little mistakes like that in a win, because they're also the little mistakes that have cost us games.
  13. 1st play of half.. come out again in double TE.. play action post to Watkins Oh well..
  14. some will win, some will lose.. some are born to sing the blues
  15. That team got up a couple scores on teams early, and forced them to abandon their run game. With Gronk healthy, this O is just as capable of making you play catchup - but now they can shutdown your #1 receiver with Revis, and give help where needed. This adds a dimension the old team didn't have.. and they were as you say - one of the best
  16. a business worth over a billion dollars should have a disaster recovery plan, and someone should be responsible for checking worst case scenarios as the storm was gathering strength. although it might be par for the course for the Bills to wait until its too late to implement their plan, getting coaches, players, and any necessary staff up and on the road before then isn't unreasonable. or, you can treat your business like a family picnic.. which is what they do.
  17. considering the team plays in the northeast, i'm surprised there weren't plans in place to bring the team to one of a few chosen alternate sites to insure the coaching staff could install their gameplan. my guess is, that if Kraft doesn't already have such plan - his guys are putting one together. when one of Terry's drills hit's a rock, i doubt he packs it up and goes home.. the first thing that's gotta be jumping out at the man is his new team's consistent lack of preparation - at all levels.
  18. i'm having a hard time believing that a communications major who married the boss is going to be an upgrade over Brandon - but hey, ya never know - she obviously knows how to stick to a gameplan
  19. if Kyle is spotted on the sideline during our first offensive series against the Jets, with the outline of a pint bottle visible where his right thigh pad should be.. will any of us blame him? or maybe we'll only wonder why he doesn't have one in both legs?
  20. yep.. it's why i'd prefer him working offline with his position coach while the veteran does what he can with this offense. i caught hell for my opinion that EJ was 'soft' - as in, 'not up to the challenge' - but if he's now determined to win or lose 'his way', i'm good with him getting on the field.. just concerned he'll get little help from Yogi and Boo-Boo. as a matter of fact, i'm starting to rethink that 'soft' opinion.. i'm starting to think Yogi wanted a playmaking QB, because he and Boo-Boo's gameplans only take us past our first few series. my apologies to Mr Manuel.
  21. maybe he's frustrated running into coverage, rather than away from it.. but yeah, the amateurish posturing should stop.. maybe his sulking coach can correct that
  22. it took him awhile to absorb Hackett's system - but soon he'll be firing on zero cylinders!
  23. sanest post i've seen in a while - including my own! cherish that kid as long as you can.. all the best.
  24. if he was refering to the use of analytics to help drive personnel decisions, it's failed him on the O-line - the most important ingredient in building an offense. if he was referring to their style of play, i don't think his offense is fooling anyone. you don't need to be innovative. you need to block and tackle. we've been bad at both.
