Fine ready? By Chris Brown - Posted October 15th, 2008 Bills rookie TE Derek Fine began participating in passing drills on Monday and is doing so again today in practice. When I spoke briefly to Fine leading up to the Arizona game he said, “One more week.” There’s a decent chance that Fine may finally be ready to dress for a game this week, but we’ll wait on the official word from Dick Jauron and the release of the injury report this afternoon. Of course even if he is ready for action it doesn’t mean he’ll be active on Sunday. Schobel wearing a boot By Chris Brown - Posted October 15th, 2008 Aaron Schobel is not practicing and has an immobilizer boot on his left foot. It’s the first time he’s been seen with the boot on. We’ll have an update after practice. Terrence McGee is practicing on a very limited basis as it looks like he’s testing his knee more than anything else. Everyone else is practicing. Chargers almost landed RB Michael Bush By Chris Brown - Posted October 15th, 2008 With Darren Sproles currently nicked up and set to become a free agent after this season, the San Diego Chargers almost pulled off a trade that would have landed them Raiders RB Michael Bush. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune the deal was pretty much in place with the Chargers surrending a second-day pick for the Raiders 3rd RB, but Oakland pulled out just before the 4pm deadline. Bush certainly would have made the Chargers even more interesting and beefed up a running game that only now is starting to hit its stride. Bush only average 3.9 per carry against the Bills in Week 3, but he certainly has potential and the Raiders may eventually move him in the offseason with Justin Fargas back healthy. McCargo move a surprise Chris Brown Posted October 14th, 2008 There were rumblings early in the season that the Bills were shopping McCargo, but after the preseason came and went and nothing happened it was thought that McCargo was going to be here for the season at the least. Obviously being made inactive in Week 1 was done to send a message - step it up. McCargo flashed promising ability last season, but it hasn’t materialized this year. That’s not to say he can’t go on to have a productive career for the Colts, who will plug him into their lineup right away. But he apparently wasn’t deemed a long term fit by the Bills. That being said, the Colts had to make this deal very attractive in terms of a draft pick. The question now is who replaces him. My money is on Corey Mace. The former undrafted free agent is a member of Buffalo’s practice squad. He’s a hard working player with very good feet for a defensive tackle and offers some flexibility on run downs to kick outside to defensive end. We’ll likely know more tomorrow.

Ko Simpson returned to practice By Chris Brown - Posted October 13th, 2008 Bills FS Ko Simpson who suffered a hamstring injury in the Arizona game over a week ago, returned to practice Monday as well. Simpson did not practice during the bye week, but his hamstring injury was near the top of the muscle and not the middle of his hamstring, which typically takes more time to heal. So provided he feels fine when he wakes up Tuesday, Simpson should be good to go in practice on Wednesday, which will also make his status look pretty good for Sunday’s game against San Diego.
