Whether it's Hardy in 08 or Maybin in 09, the Bills are using high picks on project players they stupidly assume can play significant minutes. Hardy didn't run anything close to a NFL route tree at Indiana and beat up on inferior DB's. Maybin was simply faster than OT's in college. It's almost as if the Bills are using the Al Davis draft strategy of taking the guy with great measurables. Hardy was the biggest WR in 08 and Maybin the fastest DE. They can't get on the field because they're not good enough despite how fast or tall they are.

Can we use the draft to take an owner in the first, perhaps a GM in the second, and then trade back into the second for a highly regarded HC? Then, in the fourth we'll go for depth in pro personnel, with some projects in amateur scouting for the late rounds.

Teams had almost zero film on the guy entering this season. I wouldn't draw any conclusions good or bad after 3 quarters of play.

It's all about continuity. I recall after the 2006 season the buzz word on TBD was "progress." We'll show a lot of progress if they can get 8-10 yards in the second quarter. Moving forward, that's the progress we can build on.

AVP went to the Steve Fairchild school of offense with special guest lecturer Dick Jauron. Those plays work, especially in wintry conditions on 4th down needing a TD.
