Schefter says decision is made - Tyrod is gone
BillsVet replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can only imagine the HC interviews going on right now. If I'm Goodwin, McDermott, whomever, I want to know what their plan is at QB. Right now they have a complete project of a QB and nothing more if they're going this route. And I'm sure any prospective HC knows what they pulled on Marrone just 3 years ago when Fitzpatrick was cut and the new HC was left with what we knew after 2013 was a guy who couldn't play in EJM. TT is a limited passer with poor field vision and they can improve the position. But this is so Bills...get rid of your only option, having nothing waiting in the wings, and hope the next guy is good enough. What is it Doug Whaley does again? -
Follow the 2013 Draft Blueprint
BillsVet replied to HumbleAndHungry's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And the same guy is making the picks. But he did say we're close on Tuesday so we've got that going for us, which is nice. -
Tom Coughlin don't like Doug Whaley.

Tom Coughlin's presence would make Doug Whaley pee his pants. -
A simple question for the media who frequent this board
BillsVet replied to GRHater69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Define a higher standard of professionalism. Sounds to me like some fans want local and national NFL coverage of their favorite team to not interfere with their worldview that things aren't that bad at OBD. -
A simple question for the media who frequent this board
BillsVet replied to GRHater69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess the only solution is for local media to staff their outlets with complete homers who won't ever ask a tough question and fawn over the personalities responsible for the mess at OBD. Plenty of NFL franchises are restricting access by funneling content through their websites and media partners. They have a right to do so. At the same time, tightening their grip on all team news will only elicit more questions when everything goes wrong. As in, when leaks are coming from OBD and the GM denies he had any opinion on the HC the leaks focused on. I get that some fans don't want their team criticized and expect the media to give the team a pass even though they've gone a generation without making the playoffs. It's not reality. Just like demanding media just give in to the team because it's "the team." -
The GM and team president excel at planting themselves beside the new owners. Whaley bought himself a one year stay of execution by sucking up and convincing T/K Pegs it's RR's fault that they couldn't coach the superior roster constructed for them. If only the Pegullibles would have gotten out in front of this rather than let the franchise his a new rock bottom. They'll just learn the hard way.

Report: Eliot Wolf Interviewing for 49ers' GM Job
BillsVet replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure Wolf, Caserio, et al. will demand total control and anything short of that they walk away. They wouldn't interview if they fit within an org chart where they're overruled by some shadowy Brandon type character or a meddling owner. -
I Think the Bills Have Two Options
BillsVet replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Russ Brandon is in charge of a lot...so much that the GM doesn't even know how much. It's amazing how one man can handle it all at PSE. Then again, maybe Russ Brandon doesn't really exist and he's just a figment of our imaginations. -
PFF: Bills Should Build Around Tyrod
BillsVet replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this is the path, the question remains who'll be building the roster. It's anyone's guess after yesterday's season post-mortem. -
Russ Brandon finally getting flak in the national media
BillsVet replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pure conflation. Nice try Hondo. Does Doug Whaley know what it looks like? Because after yesterday's performance he seems confused with all the dotted lines and, you know, stuff. I'll bet he knows who signs his pay check. -
I Think the Bills Have Two Options
BillsVet replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is the franchise retaining people responsible for this contract necessitating a renegotiation? Who signs a player to a contract and then less than 5 months later it needs to be re-worked? What message does it send both internal and external to the organization that this team knows what it's doing? -
Russ Brandon finally getting flak in the national media
BillsVet replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pegulillibles paid $1.4 billion or so for this franchsie and we don't even have an org chart. Yeah, this will end up just fine. -
AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula
BillsVet replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buddy Nix had names in mind as well. Some of them turned him down for interviews, leaving the Bills to choose between Perry Fewell the interim (and no chance candidate) HC, Leslie Frazier, and Chan Gailey. The organization never admitted Brian Schottenheimer, Jim Harbaugh, et al. turned them down for interviews. This is what happens when the organization employs people who undermine their HC during the season to win the OBD's Survivor show. But continue shilling for the organization. -
Perhaps Buffalo needs to Draft a competent Sports Media
BillsVet replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
San Fran/Oakland media handled 49ers owner Jed York the same way when it was clear he and now former GM Trent Baalke lied through their teeth just before and after Jim Harbaugh was fired. The ran him down behind his back to get rid of him and could only replace him with their DL coach, Jim Tomsula. They've too have had 3 coaches in 3 years and naturally media has questioned everything they've done as a result. If the media isn't asking questions about these woeful organizations then they're like the fans who demand media wave pom-poms. Cheerleading repeated failure is, how do you say it...insanity. -
There is a difference between a reporter and a columnist. They have different functions at a newspaper. I would think any "hapless" fan would want to understand how their perspective came to that. When a team consistently doesn't make the post-season, some people (reporters, columnists, objective fans) typically ask why. How doesn't being a fan divorce oneself from analyzing that their team can't make the playoffs? Events in the past week illustrate that dysfunction exists at OBD and it's spilling into the news more than it should. The MSM has a lot of faults, but in this case, local media has questioned recent happenings because they reveal a toxic environment. That said, I can't wait for Monday.

2013: Russ Brandon bringing "Moneyball" to Bills
BillsVet replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Russ has nothing to do with football decisions. He just observes decisions that are made while participating in meetings where other people make decisions. -
Season observations, this team is good.
BillsVet replied to ThrowingFitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marketing never ends at OBD. Never. -
One of these decades Buffalo will make the playoffs and Jim Trotter will be sorry he ever called the Bills organization a dumpster fire.

12-28: Media Day - Anthony Lynn's Presser as HC
BillsVet replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Career minded NFL types don't work for franchises where the front office (read: Whaley and staff) actively undermines the previous HC and leaves the interim guy to handle questions about things he doesn't control. -
12-28: Media Day - Anthony Lynn's Presser as HC
BillsVet replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is for this reason no one with a decent reputation in NFL circles will seek this job regardless of what ownership will offer. Buffalo has become NFL Siberia again for coaches. It's where they go to essentially kill their career. Lynn should think about this when he interviews next week. You can give bad ones when you've won consistently in the league. Until then, whether right or not, you need to be good in front of the mic. -
Kryk: Firing Rex Ryan not enough, it's time to clean house
BillsVet replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most fans see that something more is wrong than just the 3 HC's who were hired and subsequently left since 2010. Most fans become impatient when the team wins 4, 6, 6, 6, 9, 8, and 7 games their last 7 seasons. Most fans are impatient when the same people remain behind the scenes pulling strings. Most fans see the big contracts handed out placing the team closer against the cap that 3/4 of the league and don't understand why the Bills ride the rails of mediocrity for so long without every getting into the playoffs. Not all fans...but most fans. -

Nice find Rico. That quote should live on until Brandon and Whaley are fired.
