  1. yeah, I know that we have had some players who sought the spotlight(especially in the super bowl days), but I think that a real buffalo hero(for the bills as well as the sabres), is a hard working, quiet, blue collor guy who would rather win games than be hollywood.

willis is not a one of these guys.

I dont know if we will get a great trade for him(I think a first would be fair), but get him, and his attitude, off this team!

I really hope the Bills don't consider any of this horses**t when they draft, you are dreaming.

  2. Yeah, like I said I realize great players have been taken in other rounds, and that not every 1st rounder works out. I guess I have to make my own list .

To me Marshawn Lynch seeems like the only option, I don't know what his personality, work ethic, etc is like, but Iknow he can catch the ball well, and can run inside.

That "McGahee was a first round guy" and "sorta like Thurman" stuff was cute, any old 2nd rounder can be Thurman.

    Be back with a list.

I went to the Hall of Fame Site

I realize that to expect a HOF running back is alot, but I want a GREAT back and you have WAY better odds in the 1st RD. I don't even like the lower end of the 1st round. In the next couple of years Losman will be in his prime, Evans will be in his prime, this draft or next year is the time to get a 1st rate guy (and next year we hopefully won't be picking so high), NOW is the time.

I also looked at some recent drafts (2000-2007), saw alot of busts and average guys after the first 15 or so picks.

  3. maurice jones-drew picked 60th

frank gore picked in the 3rd

tatum bell picked in the 2nd

chris brown picked in the 3rd

clinton portis picked in the mid-2nd

brian westbrook picked in the 3rd

those all just in the past 5 drafts

and id argue that this draft is "deep enough" in RBs, (Peterson, Lynch, Hunt, Bush, Irons, Booker, Pittman) that we can grab a quality guy in the 2nd easily. sorta like Thurman...

btw, McGahee was a "1st round guy"...

Yeah, like I said I realize great players have been taken in other rounds, and that not every 1st rounder works out. I guess I have to make my own list .

  4. I'd like to see us pick up Brian Leonard from Rutgers if it's the second round. He may not fit the trad. mold of a RB - more of a FB body type. But dang, the kid can do it all. He's not gonna out run anybody - but if we need a yard or two there's no stopping him. He makes his own holes...He's also a high character guy.

Shucks, what a nice guy he is.

You're clueless. you can't put Leonard out there as your featured back. Enough with the Great White Hope. He'll probably be a good player, but not the focus of your ground game.

  5. I'll never understand this " yea, we'll just pick up our starting running back in the 2nd or 3rd round" talk.

There are 2 positions that are basically all or nothing, quarterback and running back. It's not like picking a defensive lineman and he just turns out to be average, he can still start. A bust of a back is almost useless. You want to play the odds when you pick these guys. I want 1st round guys.

I know that great backs have been picked in later rounds, but if Willis is gone the Bills need a guy from this draft or possibly next year (though a poor season this year could set the team adrift again).

I don't think this is a deep draft at RB. Big Problem

  6. Marv is a smart man and realizes that you can't "polish a turd", and should be commended for trying to get something for this buffoon. What direction would you take in the draft to find his replace. Assuming Peterson is off the board would you take Lynch at 12 OR would you rather wait until the second round and pick-up Irons, Pittman, or Walker OR wait until the 3rd and pick-up either Hunt or Bush?

I don't follow the college game closely enough to really know, but I think the most appealing would be to take Okoye in 1st and Kenny Irons in the 2nd. What would you prefer.

The other option would be Dominic "DWI" Rhodes in free agency, which I wouldn't be entirely opposed to either.

Just stop it with the Dominic Rhodes talk. Remember when the Raiders signed Zack Crockett, that's what the Bills would end up with, a back-up. He's nothing special, and would be way overpaid if he gets starter money.

  7. ok my ? is if a team matched it not knowing why they would want to, do we match or wait and get the 3rd round pick what do you think?

He's more pizza baker than football player, I forgot he was a 3rd round pick?! What was TD thinking?

  8. i dont know about you guys but with kelsay signing and free agency right around the corner im pumped i know were prolly going to lose clements but you have to be pumped for the 07 season already.

How bout that Tim Anderson deal, are you painting your face red & blue?

  9. i dont know about you guys but with kelsay signing and free agency right around the corner im pumped i know were prolly going to lose clements but you have to be pumped for the 07 season already.

Surely you jest. The kelsay signing has you pumped?

  10. Things haven't played out yet, ow can you say he has bungled this Willis thing?

Also, not that Willis is in the same situation at all, but remember when the Bills were trying to unload Travis Henry? Everyone was up in arms about not getting value for Henry. What no one knew at that time was that he had failed 2 drug tests. There are always things going on behind the scenes that fans can't/won't know about.

    Let it play out

  11. I agree 100%. And considering Edgarrin James and Shawn Alexander couldnt bring in a 2nd round pick last season, I doubt we could get one for Willis. Keep him, let him prove he deserves $$$$$. Tag him. Trade him for a 2nd rounder next year (if you can).

That really says it all, no one will give the Bills a first rounder straight up for Willis

  12. i dont know about you guys but i would be content with a third. heck id even be happy with a fourth. running backs in the draft are fickle. you can get a probowler/famer late in the draft. even if we settle for a free agent id rather have any one of these guys over his self loathing, underachieving tail..

dominic rhodes (dui? i dont care if he can run)

corey dillon (still a couple years in the tank at his high level)

thomas jones (you saw him carry the bears with the shaky at best grossssman)

ladell betts (do the redskins even have a dollar left to resign him?)

    Dominic Rhodes!?! Not a starter

    Corey Dillion !?! Old, not a starter, plus he's a D**k

    Thomas Jones, Over-rated

    Ladell Betts- Nah

Willis is better than 3 of them and as good as Jones

  13. You do realize that Drew Rosenhaus works with a team of people, right?. Its not just him.

And as far as his clients go, very few of them are Free Agents. He has his rookies to deal with, Donte Stallworth & Lance Briggs. Throw in McGahee shouldnt be that difficult.

    We shall see.

I realize he has a team, but when you're pawned off to the assistants, it's time to change agents. I am curious who else he is an agent for. I think the draft was the big payday from Willis to Drew, and Willis isn't a star player (as we well know).

  14. It's a ballsy move on our part. Willis pretty much has to be traded now. Drew Rosenhaus will be spouting off all over the place if it comes to training camp and Willis is still in Buffalo without a contract extension.

Plus, we really don't have a starter on the team right now if Willis is gone. Although, first two rounds of the draft look pretty good for RB's.

Drew Rosenhaus has many clients, I expect him to be busy with more important players (guys he can make more money off than Willis).

The guys getting drafted right now are gonna put alot more change in his pocket (Big bonus money) than Willis will renegoitiating. There may be some bluster by Rosenhaus, just to see if he can rattle the Bills, but he won't waste alot of time with a holdout and such.

In fact, if Willis indeed wants to leave (I think this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion, I actually think the Bills are more interested in getting a new back than Willis is in leaving), and things don't get resolved quickly, I could see Willis getting a new agent.

The Bills aren't getting a 1st rounder for Willis, that's dreaming.

  15. There is some team that would be willing to pay a 1st rounder or at the very least a 2nd rounder. If we don't get that then we are in a worse case scenario because we are going to need 2 RBs and no where to get them from with a 3rd or later pick.

But willis isn't worth a 1st rounder you say?

Not true. For many of us yes, but for some teams he's an attractive option.

Willis is cap friendly right now. No major hit for any team that wants an experienced RB. The team can see how he responds to his contract year on the field and then roll the dice on him. No commitment!

Indy RB Rhodes was mainly a setup guy for adai in the red zone; don't know what he would be like for the full load. Wouldn't want tpo pay that much money to find out.

Add to the fact willis had had national exposure, has the OL and QB as scapegoats, and can give a team like the giants instant credability to assess their team (QB & GM), he has alot of value for the right team.

Someone will pay a 1st rounder for him. But who?

Please, no more Dominic RHodes talk, he isn't as good as Willis, he isn't a number 1 back. Remember Zack Crockett, he's Zack Crockett II
