How did your actions yesterday help the Bills to win? Something you ate? Did you change your shirt at halftime? Went shopping instead of watching the game? I’ll start… I missed the entire first quarter. Started watching in the second quarter when it was 21-7, and immediately the Lions scored to make it 21-14. It was close, but I started doing my usual routine of playing games on my phone and only looking up at the game from time to time, and it worked. Bills win! You're welcome.

Ask them. But don't offer up the money for dinner to be split. Just ask if they still enjoy the dinner out, and if they want to continue it each year. Let the majority decide. Make the dinner optional if that's what they choose, and still give out bonuses, but the ones not at dinner will get theirs the next business day, instead of at dinner.

Keep doing the expensive route, your employees will appreciate it. Little story, from my younger years. Small local company I worked for, the owners treated us all great. Our Christmas party was them taking us all to a local chinese restaurant (not counter/buffet, sit down service, think PF Changs style) where the owners of that restaurant were making us some dishes that were not even on the menu, free drinks, etc. And bonuses were equal to about a weeks paycheck. Another year, the owners sold the company to people they knew. Our next Christmas party was the owners wife deciding that everyone could bring in a dish and we'd have our party during working hours. Our bonus that year was $50. Needless to say, we all quit at some point in the next year, and that company is no longer in business.

One company (a natioInal one, with branches all across the US) gave everyone $40 gift cards to some obscure shopping website. Luckily that site sold Amazon gift cards, so that is what I bought with it.

Where my sister and brother used to work, the different departments would decorate and have a contest. Some departments went all out, others would just slap up some lights and paper snowflakes and call it Winter Wonderland.

In between. I work for a small company, so the owners will take us to a restaurant and get a private room for an afternoon. Lots of food, free drinks, bonus checks get handed out, but it always ends up being work talk, and polite conversation.
