  1. Update IX: Joey Smith reported tonight that a Democratic donor group in the Midwest and South will not have to close any of their Chrysler dealerships... and their competition was gutted. The company is called RLJ-McLarty-Landers, and it operates six Chrysler dealerships throughout the South. All six dealerships are safe from closing. The dealer locations are: Bentonville, AR (northwest Arkansas); Lee's Summit, MO (south of Kansas City, MO); Branson, MO; Olathe, KS (near Kansas City); Bossier City, LA (near Shreveport); Huntsville, AL... The interesting part is who the three main owners of the company are. The owners are Steve Landers (long-time car dealer, 4th-generation dealer), Thomas "Mack" McLarty (former Chief of Staff for President Clinton), and Robert Johnson (founder of Black Entertainment Television and co-owner of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats). Landers has given money to Republicans in the past, but McLarty campaigned for Obama in 2008, and Johnson has given countless amounts of money to Democrats over the years... ...So far, RLJ-McCarty-Landers will have 8 competing dealerships total[ly] eliminated from 3 of their markets: Lee's Summit, MO; Branson, MO; and Bossier City, LA. I'm willing to bet that the other 3 markets that they serve are similar in nature.
  2. Yeah, the Wall Street Journal just publishes things on it's website on whims. It's not a reputable website like the Huffington Post . . .
  3. Here's and interesting little read from the Wall Street Journal's Best of the Web Blog: WSJ Best of the Web today Essentially, the Chrysler dealers that have been forced out of business due to the government sponsored restructuring, are almost exclusively Republican donors. A tipster alerted me to an interesting assertion. A cursory review by that person showed that many of the Chrysler dealers on the closing list were heavy Republican donors. To quickly review the situation, I took all dealer owners whose names appeared more than once in the list. And, of those who contributed to political campaigns, every single one had donated almost exclusively to GOP candidates. While this isn't an exhaustive review, it does have some ominous implications if it can be verified. However, I also found additional research online at Scribd (author unknown), which also appears to point to a highly partisan decision-making process. . . . I have thus far found only a single Obama donor (and a minor one at that: $200 from Jeffrey Hunter of Waco, Texas) on the closing list. Wow. So much for draining the bile from Washington political workings.
  4. Prior to reading the list - My guess is 27. Well, after that, I'll take 21. At least it's better than the Bills' Backfield rating from yesterday.
  5. Gin Blossoms: New Miserable Experience - just about one the best rock n roll albums I've ever heard. Fountains of Wayne: Welcome Interstate Managers - Bought it for my kids so they would have the hit "Stacey's Mom." Turns out that most of the album is a power-pop masterpiece.
  6. Seems like it's just another opportunity for CNN/SI to ball-wash the Pat*s. I can't believe that they ranked the Bills lower than the Texans, Broncos & Jets. Does the rest of the football world really have that low of an opinion of is? Small reality check: the Bills did finish 7-9 the past 3 years; not 2-14 . . .
  7. I recall there being a whole series of "Drity Eddie" jokes all set in a classroom. Teacher is doing vocabulary review and going through the letters of the alphabet. She arrives at the letter "U" and asks someone to use a word begining with the letter "U" in a sentence. Little Mary raises her hand and says, "You are very pretty." Teacher says, "Well that's not quite correct. That word doesn't begin with the letter 'U.' Can any one else think of a word that begins with the letter "U?" All hands are down except for Dirty Eddie. He is waving his hand back and forth in the back of the room. Knowing she will regret it, the teacher calls on Eddie. "Yes, Edward do you have a word?" Dirty eddie says, "Yes, I do. 'Urinate.'" The teacher winces and says, "Yes, that word begins with "U." Can you use it in a sentence?" "Sure. Urinate, but if you had bigger breasts you'd be a ten."
  8. florio needs to take a step back from the glue-pot. He's clearly getting in on the fumes.
  9. There's a guy who shows up every Saturday at the World Gym in Hamburg wearing jeans. I'm pretty sure he wears sneakers, but you would think after 6 months the guy could buy a pair shorts or sweats. That said, I should be careful what I wish for. . . There was a guy working out on the machines today with some tree-mendous butt cleavage How do you not feel that?
  10. OK, I have 2 bad ones and one that's just a little cheesy . . . 1) The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. Just a fun film to watch. Trailer 2) Clue. God, I wanted Leslie Ann Warren to fall out of that green dress . . . 3) The Karate Kid. Ok, not a bad movie, but a definite cheese-fest. I also consider it to be one the most quotable movies of all time. - Ah, Buddha provide. - Miyagi understand, Miyagi once have mother too. - Hm, different, but same. And all of the other usuals . . . Wax on, wax off, etc . . .

  12. Beat me to it, Tom. I remember reading about that . . .
  13. I have this hope of a Biscuit-esque debut by Maybin. The Pat*s won't have a lot of film on him and how he'll play in our schemes. If Perry can move him around, and use his speed, he could be on Brady all night. Makes me feel all gooshy inside.

  15. He is annoying . . . that said, his ESPN 360 commercial is a good one. "The secret is in the internet connection."
  16. I agree . . . he was better than any other TE on the team at the time. Say that 3 times fast
  17. Terrible news . . . condolences to all of her family.
  18. Winner winner, chicken dinner . . that's what he yells.
  19. CNN - SI.com I hate the magazine, but the website rocks . . . . great NFL coverage. A bit too much Pat*s ballwashing by Peter King, but if you can get by that . . . .
  20. Schopp is douche and his act wore thin on me. I was a solid all day listener to WGR for 10-15 years, even going back to pre-sports yalk. I don't listen at all anymore. I might tune in one a weekend when I know that all of the usual suspects aren't on the air.
  21. You've got to be kidding, right? Granted, he's not Ed Reed, but outright release him? You're frickin' crazy . . .
  22. I had one a few years back. Turns out I had a Thyroid condition that was jsut wrecking me physically . . . I take a daily thyroid supplement and I will for the rest of my life . . .
  23. The more i hear about Freud, the more I'm convinced that he was a jack-a$$ . . .
