The Palin soap opera continues
Steely Dan replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's just amusing. What he said. (Obama = terrorist) = (Palin = drug dealer) Shhhhhh! You're just egging them on to say that Obama had a white grandmother. -

Caylee Anthony Case - Anyone Else Following This?
Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Here's a good run down of the case in a one page article. Some highlights. The mother's defense team had claimed since her October indictment that the child might still be alive, even claiming witnesses spotted Caylee since her disappearance. The finding of the body "has really cut the legs out of the defense," Stacey Honowitz, an assistant Florida state's attorney, said Friday night on CNN's "Larry King Live." __________________________________________ According to earlier reports, Caylee was the result of an unintended pregnancy, and Anthony made an attempt to give her up after birth. She referred to Caylee as "the little snot head" and continued to maintain an active social life. When Caylee went missing, Anthony did not tell her family for a month. It was the child's grandmother who called police. Anthony told conflicting stories at the beginning of the investigation, including a tale that Caylee was with a nanny. The name and address turned out to be bogus. As police searched for Caylee, they say Anthony's active social life continued -- including one memorable entry in a "Hot Body Contest" at an Orlando bar. -
It was just sayin. I wasn't using facts of his age just his ability to control Mike. Some people live to 101. Jack-ASS!

If a chef isn't fat I worry about his cooking skills. I agree. If Cus D'amato was still alive Tyson would be a much different person.

And this affects me how?

That works for so many people here! Wouldn't you?

JC people it's a joke. I like this part of the law. Lighten up. Another section states, “It shall be unlawful for any person in the city to insult, accost, molest or otherwise annoy, either by word of mouth, sign or motions any person in any public place.” I would go into every town meeting and walk up to the podium when a general call was made for comments and then flip them off and leave. If they do anything against me I'd sue. -
Caylee Anthony Case - Anyone Else Following This?

I agree with you. Casey's defense team doesn't. Well behind their eyes I'm sure they do but what they'll present to the jury is that cadaver dogs missed it back in August and it was just recently found. "Mr. and Ms. Jury doesn't that give you some reasonable doubt." Of course it wont if any of them have half a brain but it does give the defense another argument to make. The most interesting thing to me now is that there was an officer found to have lied about his involvement with Casey who was dismissed but he was still on the force when these calls happened. I wonder if he was one of the officers responding? The first call the meter reader had left already so the cop didn't do anything since he didn't know where the meter reader was talking about. I can understand that. The second call was handled by a detective saw that saw that cadaver dogs had swept the area already and discounted the call. Since they were getting thousands of calls about leads I can understand his reluctance to take it seriously. The third call had two officers respond one of which started into the woods but said he heard a rattlesnake and wouldn't go any farther. This is the officer I wonder about. Was he the Casey Anthony ing officer? Was he deliberately trying to cover up for her? Soon after that Tropical Storm Fay hit and flooded the area. -

I was responding to your 5% comment. Stick to the facts of what you posted rather than trying to change them now. Also you're changing the facts of your Air America comments. In that post you say "HIS" Air America "IS" bankrupt. Let's repeat the word "IS" for you and compare it to the word "Was" which you now claim you said. Ruminate on it and see if you can understand it. Second it wasn't "HIS" Air America. I don't know how you get that idea. He was on the air for a long time after the filing for bankruptcy was done but somehow you feel he was the owner of the radio shows. BTW, it was in bankruptcy because the founder was ripping them off. Not for poor ratings. -
California AG Thinks About Prop 8 And Realizes That
Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Gotcha! Misinterpreted that. The amendment freeing the slaves was increasing a person's rights. Proposition 8 is taking away a person's rights. Our Constitution is written to supply freedom as much as possible. -

No, but if you saw me speaking on TV and read in depth articles about me in several national magazines and heard talking heads on both sides of the aisle discuss me then I think you'd have a very good idea of who I was. Nice try only using the TV thing to make a point but adding the other stuff wouldn't fit your point so I guess it's a good idea to leave it out. -

You are aware averages are not exact right? I assure you that the percentage of skits written by the writers is not 5% per writer per season. Some writers come up with a lot of ideas for skits and others add lines and tweaks to the skit. Rethink your average idea. It's greatly flawed. What you and I find funny doesn't matter. I find Franken funny and you don't. 'Nuff said. Ok, first off Air America is not bankrupt. Do your research. If writing books is self promoting then anyone who's written a non fiction or fiction book is a self promoter to you I guess. -

So writing best selling political commentary books isn't doing anything? Having a radio show isn't doing anything? You're criticizing for the sake of criticizing. -
Franken about to take lead...
Steely Dan replied to billnutinphoenix's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Exactly, I'm just saying calling out Franken for being unfunny when he worked in an era that has already been called the best years of SNL is ridiculous. BTW, I love Conan O'Brien's show. His writers do well and his monologues are pretty good. Triumph is the best thing on there and that makes the show worth watching alone. Taro T. you seem to be under the impression that one writer does a sketch and that's it. A writer comes up with an idea and then many of them work on it together. Saying 5% is his is ridiculous. Not every writer gets his/her stuff in every week. The best ideas are what get in. So one writer may be getting 25% or more into the show one week and none the next. As Deano pointed out Franken worked there for 15 years and I'm sure that's not because he sucked. My point is that your political feelings about him are entering into every facet of his work. Just admit he probably made you laugh once in a while and leave it at that. What the hell does his comedy have to with his politics? I'll admit Rush Limbaugh has given me a chuckle or two. -

Linkage (CNN) -- Democrat Al Franken has pulled ahead of incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman in Minnesota's still unresolved U.S. Senate race, according to a running tally on the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Web site. Late Friday morning, the newspaper's tally put Franken ahead by 102 votes. Coleman's lead had fallen to single digits Thursday evening. But the race remains fluid: The results reported by the newspaper are ongoing, with hundreds of challenged ballots still to be reviewed. Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie has said that he and four other members on the Canvassing Board will not end their workday until all remaining challenges have been reviewed. One major wild card that remains are roughly 4,000 ballots that were originally challenged by the campaigns, who have since withdrawn those challenges. The secretary of state's office has yet to declare how or when those ballots will be awarded to the candidates. About 3 million votes were cast in the election, and the close result tripped an automatic recount. Franken, a former "Saturday Night Live" comedian and writer, gained several hundred votes Thursday night as the board ruled on ballot challenges from both sides, the newspaper reported. "When the recount is over and all the votes that were legally cast are counted, Al Franken will have won this election and will be declared the winner," Marc Elias, Franken's lead recount attorney, told the newspaper. -

It's not the constitution it's the initiative added to the constitution. If a majority of people in this country voted that Mexicans should have their own rooms in the back of restaurants and can't use the same water fountains it would be an unconstitutional amendment and therefore would need to be removed. I believe you must be kidding about that comment. -

Ok, the post was showing how you think. I'm sorry you can't understand that. So take the word "I" and replace it with "you" and you might get it then. Ruminate on it for a couple of hours and it will begin to make sense. What a maroon.
