My Youboty prediction. He started tonight, sure, but...
billybob replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Youboty looked better than James- Greer looked good- Corner looked good- right now McGee Greer Corner Youboty McKelvin James I didn't see Cox if he played -
Leodis Mckelvin Looked Great at Returner.....
billybob replied to BBills14's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought he played like his draft profile said- physical tackler for his size, not great ball skills, great return skills -
Some Points 1. The Bills looked very much like last year- very good special teams, an OL that pass blocks fairly well and can't run block, a defense that looks scrappy but still can't stop 3rd down plays and wears down late in the game- two QBs that are each flawed in their own special way. 2. Hardy and Fine showed some nice qualities 3. Move Bell to LT now and Walker back to RT and Chambers to the bench 4. Peters might have to move to DT when he comes back
-
before the combine he ran in the 4.7s in the 320s at the combine he was 336 and ran 4.83, 4.87, 4.89 his first year with the Bills he got his weight down to 318 but supposedly stronger - you know how it is - no matter what a player does to his weight it's always suppose to be a benefit ( lighter and quicker and better conditioned - heavier and stronger and better able to take a blow) they always tell you their weight never the % body-fat , personally I think both Peters and Walker would be better off lighter.
-
Peters ran a 4.83 at 336 before the draft, compare to Joe Thomas 4.93 at 313 - not saying Peters is better but he's not some kind of fluke- before the draft most publications had him as a 3rd-4th round pick- but no one wanted to take a chance on him to make the transition from TE to OT possibly because of his very low wonderlic score- consider the progression - game 1-11 practice squad 12-16 special teams where he does some amazing things including blocking a punt and running it back for a touchdown - season two back up RT until he takes over from Mike Williams- season 3 starting RT until he takes over LT from Mike Gandy- season 4 starting LT nominated to Probowl. Peters has only been playing LT for less than 2 years he got nominated to a Probowl and being from Buffalo you know that it has to be on merit not some type of media hype- and he still has upside

What will you be looking for in tonight's game?
billybob replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The H-back/fullback position - Neufield added nothing as a pass catcher and his run blocking wasn't very good either- 25 catches and better run blocking might win us an extra game- James Hardy - Josh Reed is adequate until the Bills are in the red zone then he's a liability - if Hardy could get 30 catches and 5 TDs that would be huge Steve Johnson- like Josh Reed not a burner but 4 inches taller -does he have the stuff to hang on this year and push Reed out the door in a year or two? D Bell- DEs have gotten smaller so do you really have to be 330+ to play LT? but Bells 10 reps at 225 is kind of shocking since Hardy did 18. I hope he's a hard worker in the weight room. Mckelvin- The Bills had some pretty good Offensive linemen to chose from with their pick so I hope Mckelvin is pretty special. Stroud- Friends who have seen him at camp are very impressed - I'd love to see the Bills winning battles at the line of scrimmage for a change. -
Strength is the one thing you can add- of course you need a willing player and a smart strength coach it's not as easy as doing a few sets on the machines especially if nothing artificial is being used.

what people don't realize is now that the Bills play a home game in a foreign country that none of their contracts are valid.

will Favre on Jets help the Bills
billybob replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way this makes the Bills better is if it wakes Ralph out his coma and he demands that the Bills get Peters in and Ralph uses some of his mojo that allows him to cheat death to get another NFL caliber WR or TE in here. -
Maybe the Bills couldn't afford Favre?
billybob replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the Bills have to save cap room to not pay Peters, not pay Evans , and not pay Crowell- oh yeah and to overpay some mediocre player like Schouman. -
Brett Favre traded to the New York Jets per FoxSports
billybob replied to Nostradumbass's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey lets break it down position by position - QB, WR,TE,OL, RB, DE, DT, LB, CB, S coach - then get back to me on how we're so good we don't have to worry about Favre. -
I have a question about how good we will be this year
billybob replied to krazykat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense should be much better If Peters comes back ready to play the offense should be slightly better- Special teams is the big question mark and that is troubling - a lot of fans looked at last year team and think we had a 7-9 offense and a 7-9 defense not me a 3-13 offense and a 5-11 defense who were propped up by a 13-3 special teams 10-6 if Peters plays well right from the start and special teams remain elite -
Maybe he'll be great this year- but last year I saw him man handled by offensive linemen and dragged by running backs just the same as London Fletcher- but of course he has very good manners and a peppy attitude

Best Left Tackle in the league? Really?
billybob replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
maybe he really cares about winning and decided it's not gonna happen with this halfass outfit -
year one Peters dominates special teams when he gets a chance to play year two Peters replaces Mike Williams at RT year three Peter replaces Gandy at LT year four Peters nominated to probowl as a LT Peters has done nothing but excel - he's a physical freak who could dominate at DT, RT, OG, as well as LT

Maybe I should say what I mean by a pass " they didn't make the playoffs but hey they were in cap jail hell" " they didn't make the playoffs but hey they're a young team" " they didn't make the playoffs but hey the coach sucks" " they didn't make the playoffs but hey they had a lot of injuries" at the end of the season am I gonna hear "they didn't make the playoffs but hey Jason Peters wouldn't honor his contract"
-
Will you give the Bills a pass this year if they finish 7-9 ,8-8 because Jason Peters won't honor his contract.
-
Someone must have contacted Peters as I found a statement from Jauron on Feb 22 "Jason's rehab is going well and we expect him to be 100% for OTAs" so someone must have talked to Peters after his surgery which took place in early Jan. Unless Jauron was just blowing smoke.
-
I'd say two reasons 1) Injury made Peters realize that a career in the NFL could be cut short at any minute 2) being nominated to the Probowl is a traditional condition for reopening a contract If I were the Bills I'd contact Peters agent with the following offer- come to camp and show you're 100% physically- and we will give one of the Following 1) a 5 year contract worth the ave of top 10 OL contracts - 2) we will buy you an insurance policy for this year and if you make another Probowl we well offer you a 5year contract worth the ave of the top 3 OL contracts.
-
My sources says Peters in going to retire and start a career in pro wrestling as a tune up for MMA and then to Boxing where he's going to beat the crap out Mike Tyson for a couple million- this is just a time killer until Wilson passes and the Bills find themselves under new management.
-
The bottom line is does it make the team better or worse- If you hurt the team to punish a player " you're cutting off your nose to spite your face" but whatever! I can't get too worked up about a player already making millions or an owner making tens of millions- my bottom line is that I no longer have the time or money to waste it on a bad product and if the lack of Peters hinders this team from crawling out of the mud of mediocrity don't expect any leeway.

Peters may be willing to sit all season
billybob replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've changed my mind- let Peters sit- when Edwards get injured and season is in JPs hands the nuclear meltdown of this board will be more entertaining than winning football -
the numbers on Nate's contract 3/2/2007: Signed an eight-year, $80 million contract. The deal contains $22.6 million in guarantees, including an initial roster bonus of $11 million and annual $500,000 workout bonuses. With a voidable year in 2014, it is essentially for seven seasons and $64.02 million. 2008: $3,383,334 (+ $10 million roster bonus), 2009: $3,516,666, 2010: $6 million, 2011: $7.25 million, 2012: $9 million, 2013: $10.77 million, 2014: $15.48 million (Voided Year), 2015: Free Agent. Cap charges: $5.55 million (2008), $5.68 million (2009), $8.17 million (2010). Note the Cap charges - not cheap but not so high either.

From Lou Saban to Wade I was a fan ie Fanatic- now I'm middle aged and have a lot of constraints on my time and money - I could say I left being a fan but really football and sports in general left me- the owners and players have made it abundantly clear that it's just a business and the business is entertainment - So sure I cheer for the Bills to do well for old times sake and for what that does for the community - but if management does cheap or stupid things and the product is bad I'll find other options to spend my time and money.

people who think ability is only half the equation are usually people with very little ability.
