Bill Fans crack me up They hate McGahee who suggested the Bills play in Toronto But love Wilson who actually moved Bills games to Toronto They thought London Fletcher was an overrated bum even though he averaged 140+, tackles, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 interception, and no games missed a season, for the five seasons he played for the Bills Paul Posluszny on the other hand is the third most popular sports figure in Buffalo after Kelly and Miller- even though he has yet to get a sack, force a fumble, make an interception, did he make a knock the snot out of you hit when I wasn’t looking? Run down a RB for a loss when I was getting a beer? in fact I don’t remember any type of big play from the guy before he was hurt- and oh yeah he gets glossed as a tough son of a gun for wanting to play with his broken forearm but Shawne Merriman gets glossed as stupid for wanting to play on a bad knee. I think there are two classes of Buffalo Bills players- one class gets paid a little over market value and has to really prove that they are not good enough to get cut. With the other class the Bills balk at paying market value and will cut them at the first sign of age or injury. class1 Howard Ballard, Ted Washington, Ruben Brown, Antoine Winfield, Pat Williams, Nate Clements, London Fletcher, Takeo Spikes, Jason Peters class2 John Fina, Trey Teague, Chris Villarrial, Tim Anderson, Drew Bledsoe, Chris Kelsay, Aaron Schobel, Kyle Williams, Brad Butler. Now I think it’s pretty obvious what distinguishes those two groups but in case you can’t tell the difference, one is Northern Yankees and the other is Southern Rebels and the 180 year old Wilson has been holding a grudge ever since his Civil War days. A joke loosen up. Now onto Peters -lets look at some precedents ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Pro Bowl defensive end Aaron Schobel signed a contract extension with the Buffalo Bills on Friday that is potentially worth about $50.5 million over the seven-year deal. The deal includes $20 million in guaranteed money and locks Schobel up through 2013, extending his current contract for four additional years. The new deal was reached after Schobel earned his first Pro Bowl selection last season, and now makes him the team's highest-paid player. "Obviously, I had three years left on my deal so they didn't have to do anything ... so it's good: It's good for both of us," Schobel said after the Bills 28-17 preseason loss to Tennessee. "I like it here. This is my kind of style. I'm a small-town guy. I like the organization, I like the fans." BUFFALO, N.Y. — Defensive tackle Kyle Williams signed a three-year contract extension with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday potentially worth $14.4 million. The two-year starter is now signed through 2012 and is guaranteed $5.2 million over the next two seasons. "We're very flattered," Williams' agent Albert Elias told The Associated Press. "When you're two years into a contract, these types of extensions aren't normally made.... We're really excited about it." Elias said the Bills contacted him last week to restructure Williams' contract. The Bills confirmed the new deal, but did not release the terms. Williams received a roster bonus of $1.75 million and will make a base salary of $700,000 this season, a significant raise over the $445,000 he was scheduled to make under his previous contract. Williams is also due a $1.5 million bonus in March. Williams had two years left on his contract. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Offensive lineman Brad Butler signed a contract extension with the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, following a season in which he took over the starting right guard spot. Terms of the extension were not immediately available, but Butler's new deal is expected to provide a significant raise over the $445,000 base salary he was scheduled to make this season. Buffalo's fifth-round pick in the 2006 draft out of Virginia had two years left on his contract and was scheduled to make a base salary of $530,000 in 2009. The bills were contacted in Feb about a renegotiation the Bills did not respond with a come to camp and we will talk about it - the response was no renegotiation for 2008. Now do you think it’s possible that Peters and Parker might just think (rightly or wrongly) that they are not being treated quite the same as other players- and maybe why this negotiation seems a little less business-like than normal.
-
Well you could be like Schobel and Kelsay get big money and then play like crap
-
I will say this, if Lee Evans isn't re-signed before the regular season starts- the odds of him being here in 2009 is less than 50%- once a player gets that far, chances are pretty good he will want to test the Free agent market.
-
The Bills made it clear there was gonna be no negotiations for 2008 in Feb- and I'm sure Butler has every reason to be Humble because he's not very good.
-
My point is that the Bills have already set precedent of renegotiating when performance outstrips pay- the difference is Peters has out-performed two contracts - and sure he already is making big money but just like Ralph complains when he's only pulling in 26mil because other owners are making 4x that, it's all relative.

I'm not saying Peters has an air tight case - but people who say he's like some type of mental deficient who has no case are just ignorant.

I love Lee Evans but I wonder if he's really what the Bills want in a #1 WR - or if they'd rather have a larger more possession type WR like Boldin, or Colston
-
"Or maybe because Schobel had I think 6 seasons under his belt at the time and was consistently productive in all of them." Peters has 4 seasons under his belt and has out performed expectations all four seasons year 1 Peters dominates on special teams including a blocking a punt and returning it for a touch down. year 2 Peters takes over from Mike Williams at RT gets rave reviews from opponents and coaches year 3 Peters takes over from Mike Gaundy at LT again Rave reviews year 4 Peters nominated for Pro-Bowl at LT, the only Bill nominated his arrow has gone nowhere but up not like Schobel who tanked after he got paid

He's pretty crappy against the run and is on the downside of his career.

less than 2 seasons

Are the Bills ever going to have another shot?

just like some coaches are better than others - some owners are better than others Ralphs not the worse but he's certainly not the best probably slightly below average. -

"I like it here. This is my kind of style. I'm a small-town guy. I like the organization, I like the fans." The 29-year-old Schobel has been a regular starter since his rookie season, after the Bills selected him in the second round of the 2001 draft out of Texas. He's coming off a career year in which he finished third in the league with 14 sacks. That tied him with Bruce Smith for the fourth-highest single-season total by a Bills player and was the third time Schobel had reached double digits. "We're trying to keep our good players, and one of the ways you do that is you go to them early and work out deals in order to keep your own," Bills vice president Jim Overdorf said. "Hopefully, Aaron finishes his career as a Buffalo Bill. That was one of his objectives in this, too." Schobel had three years left on his previous contract, a five-year deal worth about $23 million that included a $6.75 million signing bonus. He was to make $8 million in base salary over the final three seasons, including $2.5 million this year. With 60½ career sacks, Schobel is third in team history -- one behind Phil Hansen -- and is one of just 15 active NFL players (including Giants holdout Michael Strahan) with that many. Since 2003, only Miami's Jason Taylor, with 48 sacks, has had more than Schobel's 45½. Schobel said he approached the Bills in seeking a new deal. "That was my argument the whole time: 'Look what I've done. I think I should be paid for what I've done.' And obviously, they stepped up and did it," Schobel said. He said the size of the deal doesn't add any pressure on him. "That's the one thing, I don't want be overpaid and I don't want to be underpaid. That's my motivation," Schobel said. Poor Peters I know what he's thinking " they paid Schobel and I dominate that chump everyday in practice" but he doesn't understand, Schobel is an undersized blue collar high motor type player who deserved to get a new contract while Peters is one of those physically dominate players who gets by on his vast natural talent and is lucky to get anything.

Have you ever listen to Wilson talk- he never talks about Superbowls or even playoffs he just hopes the team can be competitive - which I read as just good enough to keep fannies in the seats- Buffalo caught lightning in a bottle with Bill Polian for a while but the overall history of the Bills 341-373 -8 is a little under .500 -
THE OFFENSIVE LINE NEEDS A NAME??

the Great Wall of Double Chin-a -
I am starting to believe we need to trade Peters
billybob replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL players and coaches thought for 2007 that Peters deserved to go to the Pro-bowl - I'm shocked to see so many Bills fan who think Buffalo never gets any national respect - think that somehow Peters made the Pro-bowl on some type of mass hysteria. As for trading for Peters I wouldn't be looking to but if the right deal was offered sure- Jason Witten and a #1 maybe -
Demetrius Bell looked pretty good

I'd say he answered 20 out of 36 questions -
Does Lee Evans get extended this year
billybob replied to billybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My guess to why it's not done is Evans thinks he's the 2006 Lee Evans and the 2007 down turn was the result of QB growing pains and a crap OC- the Bills think stats are stats and maybe Evans isn't gonna be anything special in a ball control offense. -
[closed]Peters --- More than Meets the Eye
billybob replied to Pass the Pipe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frankly, the whole situation smells- how can the Bills extend players like Schobel, Kelsay, Williams, and Butler but not Peters and as of yet Evans. my opinion is there is one group of players that the Bills are willing to overpay a little and will keep an extra year or two to make sure he can't play- and another group the Bills don't want to pay market value to and will get rid of at any hint of age or injury. Howard Ballard, Ted Washington, Ruben Brown, Antoine Winfield, Pat Williams, Nate Clements, London Fletcher, Takeo Spikes, Jason Peters John Fina, Trey Teague, Chris Villarrial, Tim Anderson, Drew Bledsoe, Chris Kelsay, Aaron Schobel, Kyle Williams, Brad Butler -
Simple question, does Lee Evans get extended this year or does he hit free agency - do you have a prediction
-
Here's a question for the group- what taking so long with Lee Evans getting extended- He's the guy everyone points to as how Peters should have handled his contract and yet still no contract- if he not signed before the regular season he will probably test free agency.

I like that

Leodis McKelvin vs. Reggie Corner
billybob replied to Billsfanfourlife's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agreed - and that doesn't happen very often -
Greer is 5,11 which is pretty normal height for a CB- he did start out as rather light at 165lb - but he got his weight up over the past few seasons and is now listed as 180 not a large corner but not freakishly small either.
